It's probably not feasible to have legit speedruns because of the nature of the game (I mean just look how many problems Fish had to play this and still his run doesn't really count). Unless a solid category without so many issues can be created, tf2 speedrunning will remain a meme. Having said that, maybe there are interesting meme run ideas out there, like teleporter kill % or something like that lmao

Id say post round kills are perfectly legit since it encourages you to actually want to win matches for easy kills instead of what basically amounts to trolling the shit out of your team by kill binding after every other kill you get

Exactly, it provides an incentive for actually playing the match if you need a "Get out of Jail Free" card if you're doing really badly with a given weapon. Even then, it's not really a "Get out of Jail FREE" card because you are by no means guaranteed to get a post-match kill if you can't find anyone in the few seconds before the round resets.

Great vid! I actually ran the casual% run a while back, and got a pretty decent time. Definitely agree with separating the runs and moreso focusing on community server speedruns in the future (casual servers are painful to deal with due to the hackers / empty servers). Also, I feel the pain with the pyro class... the thermal thruster in particular (the successful landings that didn't kill hurt my soul)

12:28 the gas passer contract taught me that it's indeed not too difficult to get a kill with the gas passer. The main problem the weapon has is it's very long charge time, just to get a below average effect.

I think it’d be more consistent for timing to start on the first match that *starts* with the runner in a team; it’d prevent time loss from joining too late into an ongoing game and would allow for a better start by swapping to a more active/non-bot server during the pre-round.

As a pyro main who uses thermal thruster religiously i agree that was kinda on you. Even though stomp is more like a boost to your damage output rather than your finishing tool it's not that hard once you get the gist of it.

Casual% is practically impossible, it’s far too luck dependent on dodging hackers and being in a location that has decent player counts at fright times It would be one of the most brutal RNG hellscapes in speed running… uncle% would be the main ran record
