hot take: as long as the feed lip geometry lines up, or even split the difference between the two mag types since the platform is chassis based. they could offer grip modules that would facilitate either mag type and present rounds to the feed ramp accordingly.
@atomicsmith Жыл бұрын
If only it were that simple… you also have to work out slide catch geometry, over-insertion stops, feed angle, feed height, etc and then test each one of those variables to reliability for at least 5000 rounds. It’s way easier to pick a magazine and design around it. Since the sig mag is the most tested, and has the most options, it probably makes the most sense. Designing a high end gun around a third party mag that’s already had reliability issues, sounds like painting yourself into a corner…

As simple Glock 43X competitor I understand it. But if they change the magazine, potentially to a better design like the P365 pattern, then I would want to see a comparison of the feature of this pistol compared to P365 variants. Because then it's not just a higher-end Glock clone, it's a hybrid with reliability a question mark because it uses different mags, and I'd have to ask why it's better to have a Glock that takes P365 mags than a P365. Glock's selling point is that the design is so proven reliable in part because it hasn't functionally changed in decades. If it starts taking P365 mags, well, then the P365 pistols have the established reputation of reliability on their favor. There would have to be an argument that this is the best pistol to use P365 mags. But instead of buying an upgraded Glock that takes P365 mags you could just make a few upgrades to any P365 variant and maybe have something better and more proven reliable. Thanks for the video. I particularly enjoyed the small glimpse of the behind-the-scenes decision making. That was interesting information to get out of him, James. It's interesting for us enthusiasts to learn why manufacturers choose to make guns the way they do. To consumer I think the P365 is a clearly more appealing mag than an aftermarket Shield S15 or reduced-capacity Glock mag, but the manufacturer has other needs to balance, like engineering and manufacturing difficulty and uncertainty.
