The difference between Toyota and basically every other manufacturer is that if there are first year issues, the WILL resolve them. The others(GM) will wait until they have a class action lawsuit or the NTSB forces them to fix it. Otherwise they screw the consumer over and tell them to "Buy American" again. This coming from a GMC Sierra (POS) owner.

@Bassett1997
@Bassett1997 Жыл бұрын
Agreed, I bought an Outback over a Rav4 and part of it was an 18.5 vs 14.5 gallon tank size. I always want at least 5 gallons in reserve so to me it's a question of 13 vs 9 so that means I would have to fill up about 50% more often with a Rav4. That's 2 days less per month after a long day at work that I don't have to stop for gas.

The sway bar disconnect is a type of KDSS which Toyota is famous for. They use it on many if not all Lexus GX and it's an option on the 4Runner. It's a very proven system so I'm sure the Tacoma version will not be a weak point, nor will the boxed frame. This is a move in the right direction.

Next time you talk to Sheldon ask him why they didn't implement a drivetrain similar to Mitsubishi Pajero's SuperSelect that has both transfer case and central differential, which allows you to drive in 4L and 4H on dry pavement and to switch to 2L and 2H when you do not need the front wheels. Tacoma offers either transfer case with a fixed 50/50 torque distribution between the front and the rear axles and part-time 4x4, or a central differential and full-time AWD (available only on Limited trim)

Agreed. Folks keep talking about the improved MPG but Toyota just released the new 24's MPG rating depending on model and it's not impressive. When you have a 4x4, the old V6 actually gets only 1 MPG worse than the new 4x4 turbo. We can count on the V6 with it's 'ancient' tech and 'outdated' 6 speed transmission to run and run and run. It's going to most likely take Toyota a few years to iron out the quirks on the new gen. I don't want to be a guinea pig. Also, user maintenance is a lot friendlier on a NA engine over a turboed engine. Just picked up a new 2023 4x4 V6 this week, couldn't be happier.

Just curious why pricing is stated without destination/handling charges. I get why manufacturers like to reference a lower number, but automotive publications, I think, should always include destination as that is always part of the purchase price. $31,500 starting msrp is really $33,000.

Destination charge is completely standard. It doesn’t matter if you buy the truck from a dealer 3,000 miles from the factory or from the dealer in the same town as the factory, literally 5 miles from the assembly plant. The destination charge is the exact same in both cases. TFL discussed this. It’s a complete money grab.

Glad I found a 23 when I did. Smaller turbo motors have to work harder than larger naturally aspirated motors. Once moisture and dirt get into that boxed frame it will rust. The 300,000 mile days are gone. Hopefully people who choose to get one will change their oil every 3000 miles.

I went out and ordered a 23 offroad with manual trans as soon as all the rumors of 4cyl turbo & no manual trans started. Well they kept the manual, but no more NA engine. I appreciate all the work the engineers put into the new changes, but I personally could care less about most of them. Simplicity, reliability, longevity is why this was my first ever Toyota. Like other posters have stated, more complexity, more bells & whistles = more chance of failure and unreliability. Hopefully the new model will prove reliable, but I'll stick with proven platform until then.

I use my truck to haul stuff and as a daily driver. The towing capacity stayed the same and the gas mileage went up a little bit but reliability went down potentially. Unless you’re an off roader the new Tacoma really sees no benefits which makes me mad because it’s truly a great truck just as a truck and not an off roader but it seems everyone only cares about off roading

This was very helpful seeing the naked chassis to compare the differences. Any chance that Toyota has the "changes under the skin" with the Sequoya and/or the Tundra (I think they are the same chassis?). I am considering buying a Sequoya, and would love to see it for that vehicle.

I must be in the minority but I think the exterior of the old truck looks better. Interior is a big upgrade. That said, I was really hoping this truck got a little longer (given it won't be redesigned for another 15-20 years). Just like all the full-size trucks have ballooned in size, I was personally hoping this truck gained some extra cab/bed space. I wish someone made a truck closer in size to the 1st gen tundra that could fit actual humans in the rear seats. I love how the engineer for this truck referenced building code from 64'. I get the need for maneuverability but come on its almost 2024.

Well, "3 inches of length clearance" ain't much. Not with this wheelbase but I am glad that lip-service was paid to opening the doors inside a garage. I really don't like having my 3-car garage gobbled up by two cars just to have doors open on both. sigh... where's that newer, wider garage? Or do I hope for gull-wings or sliding van doors?

Sheldon seems like a great guy! Thanks for this video! I wasn't aware that there are Mexican built Toyota's. Anyone here own one / any concerns with build quality? I've only owned 2 Japanese built Toyota vehicles. It's a little, trivial thing, but it would feel "wrong" to not have a J-VIN number on a Toyota. 😱 I hope that the long awaited 6th gen 4runner will still be made in Japan (my planned next vehicle purchase).

Well I would have to say the new one does look better I like The Styling better but it just looks a little too cheap hard to explain it just looks too good but looks cheap at the same time if that makes any sense the old one just looks much beefier stronger and I like the frame on the old one better it just looked better quality and we definitely know the motor on the older Tacoma is way better 3.5 V6 not sure why Toyota kills such a good motor maybe they're getting out of the reliability trend and they're going to follow Chevy Dodge and Ford in the junk Department if they're going to do that they're going to have to put their prices down I really believe they shot themselves in the foot when they put a 4-cylinder turbo motor inside the new Tacoma what a big mistake I would never buy that even if it was the last truck on the market!!!!

When you look at the interior dimensions on the double cab between the 5 ft and 6 ft beds it says that the 6 ft bed version has more legroom than the 5 ft bed. Shouldn't the double cab be the same dimensions on the inside?

Buying a Tacoma is like buying a $14 grande coffee from Starbucks at the airport to find out its not hot enough and tastes like crap. Garbage transmission & other issues. Only thing good is suspension & looks. 2024 engine & trans long term performance tbd but way overpriced but the fan boys with deep pockets and daddy's hedge fund still pay msrp for the name. Ill take a frontier extended/king cab 4x4 with long bed 2"/1.5" lift/leveling kit over any tacoma any day. Looks better not a big leage "me too" car. 24 pro4x is a fairly priced sexy beast. Tacomas are all over socal and no one is hauling sh it in bed. And don't even know what a hitch it. It's a status symbol for idiots like those kids who pay hundreds of dollars for sneakers and worry about creasing them
