I love people bitching about fuel economy in a PERFORMANCE vehicle. Let me put this in perspective for you. In 1971, I bought a Ford Bronco. It had a 205 hp, 302 V8, and the best mileage it ever got was 15.5 mpg at 55 miles per hour. Now, let's all get nostalgic about "the good old days"...
@jldude844 жыл бұрын
Mpg is more dependent on vehicle weight than the engine's power all else equal. Obviously with ~50 years difference things are gonna be more efficient but curb weight still remains the biggest factor in a vehicle's fuel economy. Which is why a 2002 Corvette Z06 gets the same 28mpg EPA rated hwy fuel economy as a 2002 Mitsubishi Galant 2.4 4-cyl with well over twice the horsepower.
@JAMESWUERTELE3 жыл бұрын

I have never enjoyed a truck as much as my ‘17 Raptor. This is the longest I have kept any truck. That being said, I ordered my TRX two months ago. I like the design of the interior, but I do wish it was less “plasticky”. But at the same time I love it that way, because I can abuse it sometimes when I actually need to do some work with it.

Here's the thing with the engine: if they can get that out of a 3.5, what could they have done with 6 or 7 naturally aspirated liters? I hate this "turbocharge all the things!" attitude we see now amongst most auto manufacturers and I love that Dodge isn't going along with it.
@2011blueman3 жыл бұрын
What you actually hate is fuel economy requirements. Manufacturers are required to turbocharge smaller engines to get better fleet gas mileage.
@LanguagesWithAndrew3 жыл бұрын
@@2011blueman Yeah I know what it is, I just wish the manufacturers would do what Dodge has done and say, "Nah, not worth the savings" and simply refuse to do it. I mean, they're not really *required* to do it, they just pay more tax if they don't (which gets passed on to the customer, which I would prefer over having a small-displacement, turbo-charged engine).

all you have to do is look at the power distribution page in the dash display in 4A. It should show you that all 4 wheels are still receiving power in 4A, but it's rear biased normally.

For one, you don’t buy a Ford F150 Raptor for the fuel economy. He says he doesn’t like the fuel economy at a little over 15 mpg, wait until you start driving the ram TRX and you’re looking at 7 to 8 MPG, that 15 MPG is going to look a lot better.

The only thing i think your off base on is that Trucks arent made to be Showing off money. But if you look at the average price of a pickup is much higher than a car and Suv. If you can afford a new pickup you prolly can afford the a really nice luxury car. If i see someone in a New Pickup thats not a base WT model i know they paid over 30k for it and prolly more like 40 to 50 for it. TRucks have gotten so overpriced its insane.

About the Raptor size. While it is over 80”, which is why it has the DOT mandatory lights, the parking in Boulder is related to city policy. Cities control the regulations for parking space width. Some cities, like Bolder, mandate narrow parking spaces. There are a many reasons given for this, more parking in the same space, less hard cover, etc but the often unstated reason is social engineering. The reasoning is that smaller spaces will influence people to buy smaller vehicles. Austin, TX had a similar policy a few decades ago, I’m not sure it’s still effect.

I like the Raptor, always did. I don't know why most people didn't liked the color, I think its awsome. The sticker can be removed, to make it more subtle. It does need a big V8 and super/turbo-charged if they want to stay competitive with the TRX. It would drive me crazy if I would have to listen to the artificial sound below my music and can't be turned off. Can't stand the popup tent you guys put on the bed. There are nice tonneau covers even hard ones (steal protection) that roll out of the way for bikes, etc.

Thank for the video gentlemen. I've had a different experience with the BFG KO2's. They do well in light and dry packed (crunchy) snow, but hard packet wet snow and ice....hold on, your going for a spin. I run dedicated studded snow tires on my F150 in the winter and nothing beats them...period. In my opinion and experience, if one doesn't want to buy actual snow tires, the Goodyear Duratracs are impressive in snow and ice, much better than BFG's, especially if you stud them.

I have a 1st Gen Raptor and that wide track comes with a benefit - stability. I find it to be much more stable in turns and with pulling my 28ft travel trailer than other trucks I've driven. Another benefit is the lower rate of depreciation compared with a "regular" F150.

Augmented exhaust noise should be standard on ALL trucks. That way when they come blaring by my home at 5am or on a quiet afternoon at least they are getting a good dose of what they are giving.

I like the RAPTOR overall. On the biggest dislike, it's the exhaust note, real and the fake in the cabin. As far as the Navigation issue, I have Uconnect in my Hellcat, I use Waze through Apple Car Play. Works great and never have the issues you mentioned. It does give warnings, but they go away after you pass whatever the issue is.

sometimes manufacturers try too hard to part customers from their wages. The synthetic interior sound seems like a unwelcome toy, like speech and motion recognition and Tesla video game tech. And the purchase price... it renders the whole effort pointless.
