I’m sure the original Toyota hilux surf from Japan had a removable top like this. Quite a lot of hilux surf’s got imported into the uk but the late 90’s ones were essentially like 4 runners.

Roman and Andre, In the lead up to the new 4Runner Toyota promised us a return to 4Runner roots. The original 4Runner made its debut with 2 doors, a removable top, a 4 cylinder engine and manual transmission. This prototype has 3 of those 4 core features. At 7:04 Andre demonstrates the biggest flaw with the new production 4Runner. Somehow Toyota provided less headroom for the North American 4Runner than the global Land Cruiser. They also dropped the extremely handy 40/20/40 second row.

Even if it doesn’t get made, Toyota will incorporate the main concepts people like about it to production, like “4Runner” and “Blue” (forget about the minor details nobody was looking at/reporting on like “2-door” and “removable top”)

That Everest Green is a nice color on the 4Runner, hopefully it makes it onto other 4Runner trims or even the Tacoma lineup. It’s so much better than the dirt themed colors. Dirt is a dirt-themed color. We can make any vehicle look like it’s covered in dirt. Give us the colors we can’t replicate ourselves on the road and trails unless we strap a Christmas tree onto the roof.

Well, it is ... a concept. Not one I am nearly as enthusiastic about as I was about what Andre just bought. The open top, cool. The rest... not giving me the .. take my money vibe. I like there is a front camera. Would def. need that to see in front of you. I like the hood scoop. I like the idea of a 2 door.(for me personally, not a family) Not digging the paint scheme. Not digging the tire size. Not digging the interior color. The huge in your face exhaust pipe is pathetic since it is not a V8. The wheel choice is ... meh. Better than the stock 5th Gen. The push bar, I agree with Roman, does not work well with them angles. I don't care for it being called a "TRD" Surf. Should just call it a 4RS. lol
