Most people who don’t bring stuff just drive within a few miles from camp at OHV areas and usually can walk back, or find other people to lend a hand. Down here in the west coast where it’s all desert, almost everyone who goes out to secluded areas and drives far carries a spare drive belt with the tools to change it and fix a flat tire, or has a spare tire mounted, and has a rotopax gas can mounted on the rear of the cage. I always carry a spare belt, spare tire and some gas with a small ice chest with drinks and snacks, and of course a gun in my backpack for personal protection from crazy people you may come across all alone.

SxS are definitely THE way to go for off-road fun. If you're mainly looking to do trail exploring, things like Goldmine Hill or Cliffhanger, you don't need to spend 30k for a SxS I got a Kawasaki Teryx 4 LE 10 days ago for 13k by snagging an outgoing 2018 model. I've also been an owner of a Raptor for the past year and since buying the Teryx 4, I anticipate my off-road adventures in the Raptor will be limited to towing the Teryx 4 to the trail head. The thing is just so much more fun to take off road and insanely capable. Moral of the story... If you want to have the most fun off-road, buy a SxS and a vehicle capable of towing it.

If no one was buying these, companies wouldn’t be constantly putting out new products and the same or even higher price points. If you’re only going to ride a couple times a year then yeah, 13k is probably much. I’ve owned my Teryx 4 for less than 3 weeks and I’ve taken it out on the trails 3 times. I'd be willing to bet that SXSs had more to do with the decline in ATV sales -- same tech required, but the SXS offers more comfort and security with modest material cost increase. Of course those increases can be a lot more than modest if you opt for extra capabilities, but base 2 seat SXS models are basically the same price as a top end ATV. I would say that today's question is going to be who can better capture potential offroad sales in the 20-30k range, SUVs or SXSs? Will people feel more comfortable beating a SXS like that and putting it on a trailer to go home, or do they need one vehicle to do both parts, getting there and offroading? Can they tolerate the driving/comfort qualities of an offroader as an every day driver too, or do they split those duties between two purpose oriented vehicles? The auto manufacturer's honestly don't seem to be trying very hard to capture that sub-30k market with capable utilitarian models, leaving it wide open for the SXSs.
@firebirdjone6 жыл бұрын
For us it was a pretty easy decision. Over the last 15 years we've done jeeps, blazers, and even an old school sand rail. In the end the razor was really a no brainer. They ride better and get more places than I could ever care to go in a jeep or blazer, and do it in half the time. A trip in one of our jeeps that typically took 2 hours I can do in 45 minutes with the Razor. Saves us a ton of time to do more things while we're out off roading. Quite frankly our jeeps and blazers were way more expensive and I felt too nice to abuse heavily off road anyway. The other decision maker for us is that these Razors are street legal here in AZ so it's really a dual purpose vehicle. We use it to run to the store, my wife drives it to work nearly daily, it gets 22-23 mpg no matter how you drive it, and yet we also enjoy it all over the mountain ranges AZ has to offer. Worth every penny.

I have my SUV for dirt road driving especially in the winter vs my UTV but it would take a trophy truck to cover 80 miles in the desert and mountains of Idaho. The Jeep probably will fit on the trails but it will be going slow while the UTV will be hitting them like a Ralley car. Of course the Jeep is still street legal but it sacrifices it on road qualities with every mod you do to make it better off road. You can’t have it all. The UTV is king for 80-100 mile off road days in mean terrain. Even on dirt roads they will be able to go 55mph while a Jeep will be doing 35 safely. I still love my built SUV for cold days but it can’t cover the same amount of ground in one day and my UTV is ancient.

Has Polaris fixed the fire issues? If not, what’s the best alternative? Do any other sxs’s ride as nice as the rzr? www.fool.com/investing/2017/12/28/450000-recalls-later-polaris-atvs-fire-hazard.aspx

Review a mahindra roxor, bearing in mind its history is legit.
@GorillaCookies5 жыл бұрын
Well its history is legit for a Roxor but it cant claim the Jeeps history as its history considering the difference between the 2 is night and day other then it copying appearance . My cousin has a Roxor and I have a CJ 2a , CJ 3a , CJ 5 and a CJ 7 and the Roxor is garbage compared to any of them . And it breaks all the time just being driven on minor trails. The spring perches on the rear axle literally collapsed and are made with basically stamped sheet metal rather then formed steel . And thats just one of many things that have broke or failed and he hasnt had it 3 months

NICE ..my family and I have one but it's in the shop.. gave it a little too much hell.. yeah ours is red and says Georgia boy on the side with rebel flags with bumber sticker saying' mud slut hitting every hole' .. yeah also with red and blue lights on top too.. last year round this time police had came to my door and said I could not use those lights even on our back dirt roads.. actually they're public roads.. he was very nice to to me though and even called me sweetheart.. maybe that's because I told him I appreciate everything they do. :) Edit - ours is only a two seater. We call ours RZR
