The price of new trucks today tells me it'll be more economical to just keep my 2011 well maintained and running for as long as possible and when something does eventually give on it, it'll probably be cheaper to just replace whatever goes out at that time, be it engine or transmission or whatever.

@seansweeney3088 no V8 option is still gonna hurt ram. Watch. The V8 was a big reason they sold trucks. Most people don't want a 4 banger turbo in a truck lol natural aspirated is always the best way to go and keep that option open always.

Dang. Just finished the vid. $83.4k for a half ton is so painful. Stop this ride I want to get off. Given these prices, I feel like I have to keep my 2020 1500 Lonestar Hemi 4x4. I paid less than half that price, got the hemi without auto start stop or e-torque, and it came with a locking rear diff. And the tradesman presented was nearly 15k more than I paid. I can't do it. Looks like the next time I'm going to need a truck, I'll be buying a 10+ year old pickup just to keep it affordable for me. The silver lining is my next truck will have less doodabs and digicals.

There's no doubt this channel has made the trucks we buy better. I owe you guys gratitude for making me aware of American Expedition Vehicles. I had never heard of them until you covered them on your channel. Loving your new rear AEV bumper on the trail hound. Truck look awesome. I own a 2015 AEV Prospector power wagon. 34,000 miles now. I commend you on all your success. I am not in the market for a new truck but suggest anyone who is to watch this channel. No one does it better than T.F.L. Thanks again.

You shouldn't own a truck if you have to have a cute button to help you backup. Too much money for this retired person to buy a new one. I hate to hear the fuel mileage on pulling a trailer. My guess would be the same as an aluminum truck, ten to twelve mpg at best.
@npsit17 ай бұрын
I really hate how everything is being put into the digital controls.. We need physical buttons. It's bad enough people driving with cells phones in their hands. Now the manufacturers are literally forcing people to take their eyes off the road to change things that could easily just be a button or a knob.

Ill just say that this piece hike from ram is going to bleed into Jeep, Chrysler, and Dodge! Truth is that they are not selling many vehicles they killed a some what reliable engine with out having a new one to replace it! ( Very big mistake) i personally do not see a reason to spend 50k for a base model truck, let alone 60k for an slt!! The prices for these vehicles are have become astronomical! And of they thought they were having trouble selling trucks before , they are in for a rude Awakening! Overall it's a good looking truck but for the price you are going to pay there are other trucks that offer more at the same price!

Along with longevity concerns of these new complex and expensive vehicles is the fact you can't work on them if they break.
@ryanb87367 ай бұрын
A Hemi is actually way more complex. A ton more moving parts. Another head on it for cooling. Valvetrain is more complicated. Too much stress on it too. NA engines are like that if you want 400hp. A straight 6 is easier to build and work on. It’s as simple as it gets. It’s also a lot more balanced with all cylinders inline and the secret is longer block. It makes it even more balanced. Now just add string rods, pistons, best head gasket, and simple flowing head. Add long runners with two small turbos to keep high HP and torque at low rpm. Add secondary cooling too turbos for extreme longevity. Use the latest ball bearing technology for turbos. Turbo is easiest technology today. Nothing to them. Simple recipe for longevity and power. A lot more room in engine bay for cooling too. Easy to work on too. Only one head instead of two. V8 is way more complicated.
@gold5th6 ай бұрын
@@ryanb8736 'cept they've added soo much tech to these, like there's 2 cooling systems, one for normal rad cooling and a lower temp system for cooling the turbo and intercooler apparently that has an electric water pump. No dip stick it has an oil level sensor and used the computer monitoring driving style to tell you when to change the oil(ya ya my '12 Ram has that bit too).. Sure some of the mechanicals are easier, the tech makes it stupid to fix.

I am waiting to try one of these Hurricane engines to compare the "feel" in everyday driving to the Ford EcoBoost 2.7 and 3.5? We all know that the Ford engines are either ECO or Boost; never both and when driving these V-6's without your foot in it, they feel like a pooch. Hoping the Hurricane isn't like that.

They're out of touch, thinking $40k+ for an entry level full sized truck is ok. There's so many small business owners that want no-frills trucks to get to jobsites, and that market is largely ignored. Paying an extra $10-15k/truck is cost prohibitive to many growing small businesses.
