So, as marijuana becomes more widely accepted and used, male testosterone levels will continue to decrease and along with that many "male" characteristics in our society will fall into disfavor. I really don't think the electronic items are as prone to failure as people think they will be. I've driven decade+ old American and Japanese cars in desert summer heat for years at a time and everything worked, even if it was electro-mechanical. If a car is even decently taken care of and not just completely beat on, the baubles will continue working. Anything that didn't work was down to it getting bashed or moisture getting into the wrong places. The only exception in my ownership history was - of course - European electronics in a Volkswagen which had a bad airbag sensor ($3-400), a trigger-happy check engine light that you never were sure if it was a false or true positive ($whatever the cost could be), and one other issue I'm forgetting. What I'm more concerned with is my 2017 F350 Lariat having the exact same creaky-squeaky loud door retainers and hinges as the 2007 Ford Explorer EB I had previously. I suspect that both these F150s, regardless of price, will have unbelievably squeaky doors by year 2. Same goes for random exterior trim pieces like Ford's black plastic rain rails that break at fastener points and flop around.

I know the Tundra has it in their higher end packages, but comparing the work truck and fully loaded F150 is night and day in terms of quiet and comfort. First thing you get is HALF the working payload, if not worse (subtract passenger weight and camper top, etc,). That tow rating of 12,000 pounds is WORTHLESS as it can't handle the tongue weight. Figure 13% of trailer weight for tongue, so a 10,000 pound trailer gives you 1,300 pound tongue weight. Oops, out of payload! Better. not have anything in the bed, or a passenger, or a pet. Since it is a FIVE passenger truck, it just doesn't work. Bonus points on the XL. for the cloth seats.

If you plan on towing anything with significant tongue weight like a camper or plan on getting a heavy topper, winch bumper, etc., the base/lower trims make a lot more sense. Having an extra 400 lbs. of payload, even if this particular XL's towing capacity is slightly lower than the King Ranch, gives you a lot more usable trailer tongue weight headroom. This is very illustrative of how manufacturers make a killing off of higher end pickups... there’s no way that that King Raunch costs Ford twenty plus thousand dollars more to manufacture than the XL version, which is very similar except for the goodies. Fat options are where the dollars are at. If you can put up with “plebeian” cloth seats and less creature comforts, you get all of the capability for far less.

That insulation under the hood is the first thing that comes off it just collects dust. I wish you could but the options individually not in all the stupid packages because truck dont need carpet

man, now I'm kind of regretting putting the order in for the Mustang Mach E... my old work truck isn't nearly this fancy or have this kind of towing capacity as well as gas mileage.

I like the stx or xlt package the best. If I could have any half ton truck (money no object) I’d still pick the xlt, maybe lariat at the most. I currently have an stx

The more i look at these trucks, the more i feel like the best thing to do, is get a base model, as barebone as you can, while having the powertrain you want, and juat add the rest later by yourself. I've seen videos of poeple swapping dashes and what not from wrecked trucks into theirs. Lots of stuff you can find at junkyards. Some things wont work, because a lot is controlled by computers and stuff, but many things are just relays and servos that just require power.

That’ll end up costing a lot more money in the long run. Used, people will not value the Frankenstein truck as much as they would say a higher trim level truck that came from the factory with those features.

My grandpa had an 2015 or 2016 F-250 (I don’t remember what it was between the two), King Ranch, I absolutely loved that truck. It wasn’t a diesel though, it was a 7.3L gas
@jakethesnake49712 жыл бұрын
The 7.3 didn't get here until 2020. It was probably the 6.2 has which is a great motor

Crazy that people spend that kind of money on a truck. Ford making those fully loaded trucks does not surprise me because it is all profit for them but what does surprise me is that people actually buy them.
@D3thM3tal2 жыл бұрын
They build them because people buy them... plain and simple. The high price of luxury trucks is the consumer's fault.

Absolutely mind boggling how expensive trucks are today 🤦🏻♂️ hell a Tacoma is only 5k cheaper than a trail boss and 77k for a truck just again mind boggling

I found a good middle ground with an XLT with the 302.A tech package. Almost a lariat, minus the leather. But I’ll be adding Katskinz leather seats this winter. I love the platinums and king ranches, but can’t afford an $800 monthly payment right now.

Even the base model has way more than I need or even want.

Great review! What about a Vale Gauntlet with that 10k load and an mpg comparison. Really interested to see if that max tow package makes that big of a difference.

Does make me wonder why you don't find heated cloth seats. I feel like the only reason heated and cooled seats are included in a leather trim of any vehicle is because you burn your junk in the summer and freeze it during the winter.

So we bought our decked out truck, we use it for what it was intended, and now we want to protect our fancy seats. Can you guys recommend seat covers?
@Argedis2 жыл бұрын
That's the problem with expensive new fancy trucks, people still don't want to get it dirty, scratched, or dinged. You may be using it 'as intended' but not using it like a truck. Also if you spent thousands on fancy seats what's the point in covering them if you're not going to use them... are you preserving them for the next owner? It's like putting on a 'glove'... takes away all the feeling
@Scout8192 жыл бұрын
@@Argedis TF? Wanting to keep it clean doesn't mean they aren't using it as a truck? Trucks have multiple uses besides just getting it dirty and bashed. If he's using it "for what it was intended", then obviously he's using it as "a truck".

@valor_x I didn't ask for your opinion on how to use my truck, buddy, I was asking about seat covers. I have the rubber floor mats because they are easy to clean after the mud and wet stuff gets into the cab. Now I would like to add some seat covers so the clean up is easier. Trust me this PU sees some proper truck use, I just like too keep a clean Machine. 👌
