I was holding it together pretty well during the Chi Chi/Krillen confrontation, but at that first creaky 'HEH!' from Roshi, I lost it. Was in the middle of pouring myself a cup of coffee (stealing sips from the mug then topping it off, you know how you do ) when I started to spit take. Rather than overfill the mug, I instinctively lunged for the coffee pot... No one is very pleased with me right now. 😑

Was anyone else always a bit bothered by the fact that Krillin's non-canon girlfriend was not only just a piss-poor copy of a younger Bulma, but also that she was given the name Marron? Spoiler for those who haven't seen DBZ which is the name of Krillin's daughter he has later on, basically implying in continuity that he named his child after his sexy, shallow ex-GF, which is kinda weird.

+Wurzelknecht To be fair, the other Marron didn't appear in the manga for another few years and Toriyama probably would've named her Marron anyways even if this one hadn't been in the anime (since Marron is french for chestnut, like how Krillin's Japanese name Kuririn is derived from the Japanese word for chestnut). I do look forward to the inevitable gag TFS is going to do about how the two share the same name though.

Nick Erhart Nah, Chi-Chi was doing decently against Goku at the 23rd WMAT - also according to Weekly Jump, had a power level of 130. Weekly Jump is an okay source, not as good as the Daizenshuu, but better than V-Jump or Movie Pamphlets. Anyway, Hercule’s power level is very low, considering that he’s not bulletproof, and Kid Goku with a PL of 10 was, or at the very least, had resistance to bullets. Power levels at extremely low levels seem to be non-linear, though at a certain mark scouters pick them up linearly (we see this demonstrated best with the Kaioken). Maybe that 130 power level for Chi Chi is innacurate, but as a kid she was able to kill a large dinosaur easily, with her helmet, but eh. She also beat Red Ribbon Army soldiers and King Furry’s soldiers (under the rule of King Piccolo) in filler scenes, at least I think the former is filler, I can’t remember. The latter is definitely filler though.

Funny thing is, most of what Krillin did wasn't illegal. The only part that was illegal was the fact he pretended to be his twin brother. If you die, then have your life insurance taken out, then are resurrected, they do have to pay you.

I honestly don't get, why so many people hate Garlic Jr. Saga? It wasn't that bad, plus, it put my favorite cast of characters into spotlight again (Gohan, Krillin and Piccolo)

+metalcoola It was unnecessary, non-canon filler with a lame bad guy that just looked like a shrunken, pale Namekian. Also: Gohan, Krillin and Piccolo are always in the spotlight, because they are always the characters doing the most during a story arc since Goku spends most of DBZ's story arcs either dead, injured, training or otherwise incapacitated and only shows up for the finale.

+metalcoola The only filler I did not like at all was the fake namek bits. The space ship they find can be considered non-filler as it introduces the name of Frieza and kind of adds a short term mystery as to who he is.

My main problem with it is that gohan and piccolo suddenly get way weaker, at that point after his recovery gohan was about 50% of freezas strength and piccolo was at about 1.5 million. To say that, even with a body that can't die, either one of them would not be able to knock out someone who was less than 1/4 of radits strength last time we saw them is utterly ridiculous and because of that the saga felt forced as a way to stall the series, it made it very difficult to enjoy.

+Nick Erhart never watched DBZ, only read the DB manga so I've never even *seen* Garlick before, but isn't it implied that he spent quite a few years in the Dead Zone? I thought he was sent there when Gohan was like, 4, or maybe even less? So maybe he just trained? I mean, one advantage of being immortal is that you can literally train 24 hours a day without stopping for food, resting or worrying about the impact it has on your body.

Actually wait, looking back there's a few problems with Marron's plan. Firstly, they are on a beach, so was she planning to go swimming with the recording device? Secondly, there are no witnesses on the beach, so what's stopping Krillin from just taking the recording device?
