Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) is usually used to study the thermal properties of nanomaterials. However, understanding the TGA curve and extracting information from it is not an easy task. In this video, I have shown full details about how to analyze a TGA curve using OriginLab software. You must watch the entire video until the end.
If you have any questions, ask them in the comment section below. For more videos, please subscribe to NanoWorld. Thank you.

Dear Nanoworld I hope that you are fine and doing great. I have watched many of your tutorials in your youtube channel and I am so grateful for the great and rich help they have accorded me in my data analysis, helping me add another dimension and confidence in my research work and publications in general. Thanks a lot, NanoWorld. My research entails the synthesis of porous materials and their application in adsorption of different target compounds via the column breakthrough approach and fitting the experimental data into the adsorption isotherms like Thomas Model and Yan Model. I have read widely about the approach and application, but learning from tutorials is much more beneficial than just reading all day. I have searched all over the internet and I have never come across detailed tutorials on how to analyze the experimental column breakthrough curve data for calculation of the quantity adsorbed in the column and also fitting the data in isotherms I have mentioned before. All these processes can be done using OriginLab but it requires a high level of skill to input the isotherm equations in Origin and perform non-linear fitting using NL fit function. I really like your tutorials in the way they are very detailed while very easy to understand and the step by step explanation. Thus, I humbly and kindly request that if it was possible, that you make tutorials on how to analyze column breakthrough experimental data for calculation of quantity adsorbed and fitting the experimental data into isotherms using OriginLab NL fit function. Thanks a lot for the time and consideration.

@NanoWorld I was waiting for this.. Informative and engaging tutorial. However, I have some questions. 1. Can we plot the derivative curve on top of the TGA curve with a second y axis?.. If so, how to do that...? ( I am asking this because the TGA graphs I saw for my type of samples were taken from TA instruments and they were in the same graph and I want to emulate that.) 2. How to calculate the following values from TGA data.. A. Initial Degradation Temperature B. D-half value. C. MRDT - Maximum Rate Decomposition Temperature. 3. I understand that you performed 4 XRD studies for determining the phase changes. Can you please share your corelation and interpretation of that data along with TGA..? It will be helpful to see them both side by side. 4. How to find and mark the onset and offset temperature in the TGA graph?. I am eagerly waiting for your answers.. - Prabhu Palanichamy ( Researcher )

Dear Prabhu Palanichamy, All of your questions are valid and answerable. But, it is extremely difficult for me to answer your questions through a comment or email. All of your 4 questions require an answer through a video tutorial. I make a video tutorial on a topic when I get a sufficient number of requests through email, message or comment on that specific topic.
