the acting is over the top? that's some real televangelist screaming i'm hearing there
@nash62377 күн бұрын
Less general propaganda and more playing into the old televangelists. Fire and brimstone, fearmongering, and snake oil theatrics and products. But overall, I can totally agree with the games message. I’m a devout Christian, and i absolutely agree some people take it too far. Most people forget that we’re taught to accept people and welcome them as friends and family, regardless what they believe or who they are. We may feel sad or pity them for being misguided, but it isn’t our place to tell them how to live. The core of true Christianity is peace, mercy, and acceptance.

Genuine Question, Why exactly do you pity people, I mean to say, If they are happy shouldn’t you be happy for them?
@nash62376 күн бұрын
@ well yeah! I pity because of our differences and that sometimes people seem like they hate everything or never want to be friendly. Sure there was a lot of bad stuff in the past, but we’ve all forgotten how friendly people were a couple decades ago round the early half of the 1900’s. People would leave their doors unlocked, and hold what we all know as block parties, neighborhood or street gatherings with food and all the families kids would play together and what not.
@dekuloveshair56676 күн бұрын
@ yeah unfortunately I think the way our modern society is has a major negative impact on people and their mindsets, I fall in a couple minorities and I can definitely say, it can be incredibly hard to be happy when there are so many factors fighting against you
@nash62376 күн бұрын
@ yeah, same for a lot of self proclaimed Christians too. Regardless of what combo of person you are, I like you all the same, as I’m supposed to.

I love the concept of this game. One of my favourite tropes in media is a character being manipulated by either a demon or another supernatural force and it turns out to just be in their delusions due to them being either mentally unstable or something else. This game is so good

I'm surprise just how good this is. Usually when a lot Christian or religous projects are released, they're just painfully bad as it's cheesy, cheap, and shoves it infront of your face. But this feels very well made and just does it over the top in a good way

2:55 I really like the added detail of the cross having an image of Jesus on it, it actually caught me off guard--most of the time, in media that discusses religion (both negatively, positively, and neutrally), they'll just use a plain cross. That's what you most commonly see, anyways. So this feels very out of place disturbing; but the thing is, there are a lot of christians that ACTUALLY do this. They will hang an actual sculpture or other art piece of a cross up, with Jesus actually on it and pinned to it. It's really fucking disturbing. And it'd be one thing if it was just up in some person's own home, like kinda uncomfortable, but it's your house so do what you want--but no, no no no. They hang this kind of shit up in SCHOOLS. For KIDS to see. I know this for a fact, because the music camp I'd gone to in the past was held in a Christian private school, and the main chorus room we were in when all together had one hanging on the wall next to the door. It was INCREDIBLY unsettling and depressing every time I saw it and I went there everyday for two weeks. Like, even if it's what you believe in, why would you show your young children the gruesome, gory details of it as a DECORATIVE DISPLAY??? WTH???? So yeah--because of that, I really appreciate that detail, since this game is such an over-the-top mockery of those kinds of christians. It fits really well here and I just generally appreciate the subtle acknowledgement of how fucked up that practice feels. Like, seriously? Hanging a detailed imitation of a person who was nailed to a cross, forced to wear thorns on his head, and left to bleed out.... on your wall? On the wall of a school???? I don't care that he's your saviour and you want to honor him and his message, you don't do that by hanging a sculpture of his TRAUMATIC DEATH on the WALL. Sorry if that was a lot, it just... it's something I've thought about for a long time, but never really seen anyone else bring up, and I rarely bring it up with others as I don't want to unintentionally offend someone or start anything. It just has always creeped me out, personally. Back to the game though, I also like that it's still kept very low resolution, looks kind of like it's just a png texture slapped onto the model of the cross; it's a good design to keep it's appearance much less graphic than actually is, and fitting the style of the game, while still being very disturbing and off-putting. Anyways I'll shut up and actually finish the video now lol, I got really hung up on this for some reason- (quick note that I do not dislike christians!! I just have some issues with the types of christians who do things that are kinda fucked up to people around them because of their religious beliefs; there are so many christians I know who do NOT do stuff like this and are so ridiculously chill, that it genuinely baffles me when I encounter the ones who believe in treating people horribly for dumb reasons and telling their kids they'll be eternally tortured if they lie. It's honestly kinda wild)
@Mae4Ever6 күн бұрын
“Why would you show a man being tortured”. Wow, almost as if it was the most important and significant moment in Bible’s history. I’m suppose to be disturbed and depressed? I thought it was a nice and well made sculpture as a kid. I have the exact opposite reaction. Heck, when he was at the bed while my grandma and my aunt were cleaning the room I thought I want to comfort Jesus by laying next to him. Had fond memories with him. Every time I see Jesus I just see it as a moment in the bible and nothing else. Meanwhile, I remember seeing a scene where slavery happened in the bible, and people were whip in pictures and give context of the story. To you, that’s disturbing and weird, but to me, and most Christians, it’s another history lessons. :p But I see where you’re getting at.
@johancito163456 күн бұрын
The exact oposite thing is supossed to happen, i think like each time you see one of those you should feel like he died for us or something and be happy with it, it may be kinda gruesome for some people that didnt grow with that simbolysim but idk i cant say.
@deckofcookiez6 күн бұрын
No, that’s fair, I get it. I guess it’s one of those things I don’t fully get, as someone who grew up without those beliefs. Personally it’s just always made me very uncomfortable and sad-but I do get how it’d be the opposite for others. Sorry if my comment was kind of rude, it wasn’t my intention, it’s something I haven’t really talked about before so I kind of yapped a lot without thinking.
@myst1que_mach1ne5 күн бұрын
No, I wholeheartedly agree. I live with my grandparents and they have the same thing on one of their walls. These people believe Jesus was a real person, so naturally it's fucking weird to have a literal sculpture of his gruesome death in your home. My dad passed two years ago. I loved him dearly, but I don't have a portrait of him on his death bed casually hanging in my room lmfao.

I haven’t read that many creepypastas, but one of my favorites that this reminds me of is Faith Buddies (especially because they both have Kermit the Frog-esque characters spouting propaganda.) It doesn’t really have a mental illness angle I can see, but it follows this guy who channel surfs until he finds something interesting, so he ends up invested in watching the Faith Buddies show as rhetoric gets more hateful and dogmatic with every episode.

Loved this game since I found it a while ago. Good video but, does this really count as mascot horror? I don't think Seth plays the same role in the horror of the game like Freddy or Bendy do in their games, so I'm hesitant to label Salvation Project in the same way. Honestly though, I think I'm just biased against the term "Mascot Horror" since I deeply dislike many of the games under that moniker.
