Where did you get that that was a misconception? Even the nobles were illiterate more often than not in the high and central middle ages, and peasants or lowborns who could read were extremely rare (and I mean an absolutely hair-thin percentage). Mainly because books were extremely rare, and often reserved for the clergy, most of whom could indeed read. Why would any noble or peasant need to learn to read if they didn't had anything to read? News were delivered by criers, messages were memorized and recited by emissaries (letters were there, but not every noble knew how to write or read) and most shops had a sign with a shape or drawing that would allow you to identify the purpose of the store without any letter on it (like a ham, a drumstick and a chain of sausages making up the sign of a butchery)

Ever think that the 'no one knew how to read' nonsense has more to do with modern jokers being conditioned to think government controlled schooling is the only option to keep a person from being a drooling half-wit? ... Also, for Jeremy sinning the gold that the Dragon was guarding: Gold hoarding is a common trait in Dragons of any mythos. As you said yourself, Birdman, Smaug is an excellent example. And even in video games like Skyrim, the dragons at the word walls are always guarding a high value loot chest, and always have at least 150 Septims on their corpses.

9:44 There's an even simplier explanation for why Fiona's dress fit in both her Human and Ogre forms. Magic. This has got nothing to do with her wearing stretchy clothing, as even the wedding dress changes size to fit her at the end of the movie.

This is the first time I've heard that Robinhood was a nobleman. I honestly assumed he was a peasant.
@DrZuluGaming4 жыл бұрын
Robin Hood's real identity was Sir Robin of Loxley. His family's lands were taken by Prince John after he was assumed dead during the Crusades. Most versions of the tale established that as his backstory except for, maybe, the Disney version starring Nick Wilde's ancestor.

@cheezemonkeyeater Жыл бұрын
Minor correction, Robin Hood wasn't a nobleman in the earliest folk tales. It wasn't until after the upper class started writing them down that his nobleman backstory was added to it because they were uncomfortable with stories of the lower class being praised for robbing them. So whether or not Jeremy is wrong depends entirely on which period in history we draw from. Somehow, I doubt he was aware of this, though. Yup, this is what a degree in folklore studies lets you do with your life: make minor corrections to random videos on the internet.

11:05 I was about say this wrong until I remembered that in my Kung-Fu class I took about 5 years ago we referred to our teacher as "Shifu," and I was just remembering wrong. Points for accuracy, but what she was doing was not Kung-Fu, and could also be Karate if we're using well known fighting styles for names, in which case Sensei would apply to the Japanese martial art.

Even so it's not really a sin of the film. Just an inside joke that maybe a small fraction of the general film going public will get. So if you sin that you might as well sin practically every famous cartoon character since the dawn of animation because almost all of them are caricatures of actual people in either looks, voice or both.
