This was so cool. I have never seen this ceremony up close and I learned so much watching this. You did a great job to make the viewer a big part of the experience. The thing that seperates you from others is you are actually inside the lives of real Thai people and you have Thai friends in diferent levels of society. This isn't the kind of variety of content you can get anywhere else. This family made some epic face with this setup and spared no expense to make this awesome, even a beer truck. Haha and you did the Thai dance parade. You deserve sub and membership joins just from that. EPIC, EPIC, EPIC, EPIC VIdeo Serg! Loved every moment of this.

This was such a fun event, Rob ! I was pretty tired just recording it and helping out wherever I could. +2 days straight of this music at top volume was very draining. I’m so very fortunate to have experiences like this in my life.

@@LifewithSerg Yes, it's insanely loud. Even though I have never been part of one of these events, I have been within 1/4 kilometer so I did hear it clearly haha. It's amazing these old ladies tolerate the eardrum piercing music for sure. But it looks like a lot of fun.

@@LifewithSerg It's called the Three Jewels / Triple Gem / Three Refuges in English, consisting of The Buddha - the fully enlightened one, The Dharma - the Buddhist teachings expounded by the Buddha, and The Sangha - the monastic order of Buddhism that practices and preserves the Dharma (AKA the monks). So if you see anything done three times in Buddhist traditions, like going around something three times, or praying/bowing three times, you can assume it's about showing respect to those three.

Uthai Thaini is a small and peaceful province in Thailand. It's a tiny town and there are not many attractions for foreigners, as you mentioned. But it preserves truly rural lifestyle. The monk ordination ceremony is truly local tradition for central Thai people, and central Thai love music and party, that's why there seemed like a mini-concert. (But for monk ordination at the forest monastery in Northeast Thailand, the atmosphere will be more peaceful with no lights and sound). I like the way you represent a small town in Thailand, not the major tourist attractions!

This was just WILD! You would think monk ceremony like this would be just silence and chanting and prayers and singing bowls or what ever those things are called but nope! It was like a carnival over there with all the lights, music and beer. The resort name is (Baan-Rai-Wa-Run-Rush). By the way, if you go to Uthai-thani, please take a visit to the (Wat-Tah-Sung) Temple. This is the iconic place of Uthai-thani. To become a monk, there are many requirements more than the age, such as, you have to be a real man or not be a fugitive. The walking around the temple 3 round is showing the respect for the Lord Buddha, the Dhamma, and the Sangha, usually walking in the clockwise for the auspicious ceremony and counterclockwise walking for funeral ceremony.

@LifewithSerg2 жыл бұрын
The family pays for all of this. Everybody else volunteers to make the decorations and share the food. The only people that I really paid is the head cook, who organizes everything, and the woman who wash the dishes. Because no one wants to volunteer to wash the dishes. This was a very large scale of that. Usually the month coordination is much simpler. Something like this one would cost about $10-$12,000 US. Which is a huge amount of money here in Thailand.

The cermony is the Ordination. Background: Buddhism places extreme importance on the Sangha. The Buddhist society is divided into Monks, Nuns and the Laitly. To become a monk means renunciation of all attachment which is the root cause of Samsara or the endless cycle of birth, suffering, pain, fleeting pleasures, death and new lives and lifeforms on countless planets and planes of existence. The Thais follow the Theverada school of Buddhism.

@@LifewithSerg That's a myth, really with Thai music, as long as you avoid Grammy material nobody cares. Thai singers use each others material on a massive scale, no problem. Also there were over 100 record companies in the past 100 years, apart from a handful they are not in business any longer. As I say Grammy are the only company to be concerned about.
