Marriages in the US are also transactional. We like to fool ourselves into thinking it’s a romantic thing based on love. But if it were really based on love it wouldn’t need to be legally binding. If you are a wealthy man who marries a financially dependent woman in the US, you will be on the hook for far more than a few thousand a month. And she can divorce you and legally force you to continue paying thousands a month without even needing to do anything for you. No one would enter into a business relationship with such conditions. Yet men do it all the time. The only reason marriages aren’t considered a scam is that men freely enter into marriages even while knowing the legal consequences.

Hi. That's an old video (I will say maybe six years ago) but the question scam vs "sponsorship" still apply. What is interesting is there was a thai judgment few weks ago about a farang and a thai lady (not married). Thai lady defense was : all money was a "gift". The fair judgment was to split common income, because in any way it was same same a regular couple. For your question at @3:45 : no, the age difference is not the point, the real scam is when the money is not used for the agreed purpose....and there are so many purposes : build house, change job, help family.

My friends and I paid for the lessons in advance, 2 months to help him and his trainers , he wanted more. Turns out he had a big gambling problem.
