Kow Chaire ข้าวแช่ we eat this menu in the summer time . Created to served to the Royal family and got spreded to local people. There were many side dish to eat along with the steamed rice top with ice and pore a fragrances water that baked with fragrance candle Jasmine flower and lang lang flower also added ice on top. How to eat this menu is that you take one spoon of rice and of course water then take one bite of those side dish not dunk those side menu in the water coz it would make the rice and water got cloudy and oily.

that's little balls are deep-fried egg-coated shrimp paste (กะปิ). k้hao-chae is relatively difficult to make due to many processes involving, especially a preparation of the rice. thai people in the past would have it during summer.

@@theroamingcook Hi Gary, Happy Songkran🔫💦 Thanks I’m good. I don’t know if I told you but I need bilateral knee replacement. I finally saw a orthopedic surgeon on the 12th and will hopefully get the right knee done soon. The other one will be done as soon as I’m recovered. This was a long process because the US healthcare system sucks. ( Unless you’re rich 🤑) I had to sue my work Insurance company to get approval. This has been in the court system since the start of Covid! I found out that I won the case a few days before I left for Thailand in January. Very slow. For now I’m working on selling all my crap as fast as I can. For my down time when I’m in rehab the plan is to get a small cinema camera and work on learning the camera and how to edit. Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro🤷🏽‍♂️ Any advice? Hopefully I will see you in October. Keep the food coming Mike A

I sadly can't eat any foods with high purfume content like Kow Chae because my body reject them, I can taste them for a second and vomit all out, it's pretty nice but, yeah sadly can't eat them

I know how you feel, forgame. I can't eat or smell a vietnamese herb called Diep Ca, I think, because it smells like a very strong smell of raw fish. Luckily I can eat other herbs though.

32:00...what you say here is what happens in unbridled capitalism. This is one of the reasons I like Laos over Thailand, while I don't love the government necessarily, I love the fact that these western corporations have been for the most part, kept out. This is now changing, but for years it was refreshing to cross the friendship bridge and not see 7-11's and KFCs and all of that stuff on every corner. As I said, this is slowly becoming a thing of the past there and they are embracing the western slop that Thailand already did decades ago.
