Oh my God, Thai food is the best!!! I'm America lived in Thailand for Ten years after Vietnam, in Vietnam I ate their food as I was in the jungle with Vietnamese people so I'm not timid about other countries food so in Thailand I love their food also love some of the Thai customs about food for instance if you go out at night they like to go eat after they go out and they the spiciest food when they've been drinking way too spicy for me because it takes away since I live back in the States I've always gone to Thai food restaurants and I try to find the Thai food that's closest to the original Thai food and not farlon food there are many great things to remember about Thailand from living there but the food is one of the best I've eaten in Singapore Thailand Hong Kong Malaysia but Thai food is by far the best
@ShevandDev

Wow thank you for sharing! We have to agree that Asian food is probably our favourite, especially Thai food! We cannot wait to try out the Vietnamese food when travelling is permitted again. Our tolerance for spice has increased since living here, don't think we could go back!😜😊

if you really missed that taste, and if the owner of the restaurant is really Thai, ask for it," give me the real taste, I know, I'm not Thai", kinda thing. Now, depends on their side. Most of the restaurant tended to toned down the tasted, for cover all the audien.. no the customers XD

Thailand has cheap food mixing together to create exotic dishes every 5-10 years. There will always be a new blend of food. Mix of other peoples until the taste of food is right with the taste of Thais people.

It is called "Khanom Bah Bhin" or ขนมบ้าบิ่น in Thai. It made from a combination of young coconut meat, coconut milk, sugar, salt, and glutinous rice flour. I think you can find this dessert in all over Thailand typically the local market in the south and central part :) Enjoy

Thanks for showing us around. I'd favor the pork gyoza and then coconut pancake for desert. I thought that was a fancy machine swishing the drinks in a tub of ice water. Not sure why it needs to do that unless the drink needs to be shook well before drinking. I think the noise would drive me crazy as a vendor selling it. LOL
@ShevandDev
@ShevandDev 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Rick, nice to hear from you! 😊It is kind of like an ice slushy machine - so it slushes around making the ice then you pour the soda over the crushed ice like a soda slushy! Haha the noise bugs us too, we can only imagine how the vendor feels 😂

Please check out a weekend market called "Rustic market" or in Thai called Talad Jing Jai which open at 6.30 am.- 2 pm. This market is very unique and it's natural friendly, all vendors use natural materials, no plastic bag. There are an organic foods, fabulous gifts and local handmade products. They also have a sitting area for you to enjoy the food, snacks and coffee. I personally love this market very much and hope you guys will enjoy this matket as well. 😊❤️

The word "farang" is a term used to refer to westerners since the old times, guess it's distorted from the word "Foreigner" or "France" or "Franks" Guava fruit was first imported during the Ayutthaya period by Portuguese, so it is also called Farang fruit.

Farang visited this land since Ayuthaya period at least 400 years ago, long before Rama5. Thai ambassador visited France for the first time during Louis XIV.

When we siamese met white guys for the first time 200 years ago they were like who are these people? And the white guys were like we are from France (speaking French of course) and apparently our ancestors thought it sounded close to Frang or Farang . True story.

That's what I thought, too, judging from how the Thais say the word RESTAURANT as the French do, you know, not sounding the T, but add an imaginary G where the T is.

Literally “Farang” derived from “Français” (pronounce like fa-rang-ses) which were the very first white foreigners that came and lived in Thailand. That has nothing to do with guava fruit. It just sounds similar 😊.

As far as I know, the word "Farang" in Thai derived from the English word "France" or "French". In the past, probably since the time of King Rama 4, when Thailand traded with many countries from the west who traveled by sea.

The word "Farong" is actually transformed from the word "Foreigner". For Thais, it is hard to pronounce the word foreigner, so they made it short and easy by saying it as farang. I hope this helps.

@@ShevandDev you are welcome..and that word happened to be similar to a white guava that you mentioned in the vdo, so it s even made it much easier for Thais to say. Do you know Thai language doesn’t have an “r” pronunciation? So, you heard Thais say “Fa-lung” in stead of “Fa-rang” all the time, right?
