I really loved Mwalimu. Such an intelligent & altruistic man. His praises won't be sung because he was a true man of the people who din't care about enriching himself, his family & a few friends as many politicians do. I wish that was a system of government that worked well enough to do right by ALL people. It's really not about socialism, communism or capitalism. It's about man's greed & his lack of empathy, compassion & kindness. If we all seriously cultivated these ideals, then no child would go without vis-s-vis education, access to healthcare & all other things that contribute to true progress of a nation. Anyway, you did so much for your people and, in essence, many others & for that your name & legacy is ensured in history books. Rest in power, Mwalimu. And may God forever bless your soul.

That's a fact. The only thing we learned about Tanzania in elementary school was information about Kilimanjaro and in high school we learned nothing. I first learned about him early this calendar year. I am from Denmark and I was surprised to learn that the former Danish king and queen visited Tanzania and spent time with Nyerere. That concludes that it would be relevant to learn in a Danish school system.

Thank you for this. Tanzania was a true democratic state until neo-liberalism cheeped in. Nyerere defined freedom as work 'uhuru ni kazi'. Nyerere's definition of freedom, an altruistic and objective, makes western democracy a mockery and unintelligent . Anyone without work to feed his family is not free.

I didn´t understand about internal problems too in Tanzania. But i did really loved theirs rich culture and it was exotic too. Not the same like socialist state in Sweden year 1976 before we moved to Tanzania.

Korea, China, Ufaransa, Ujerumani, Urusi, n.k. hawaongei kiingereza, je, hawana maendeleo? Ujinga wako ndio pazia linalokuzuia kuuona ukweli. It's not government's fault that you are lazy and you don't read, keep your mouth shut. It's amazing that you don't even listen to this documentary

This is what I googled.... "World leaders who Cannot speak English " Now read what came out!! Vladimir Putin only began studying English a few years ago, and rarely speaks it. Chinese President Xi Jinping can only speak a little English, and Japan's Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe, always uses an interpreter when conversing with an English speaker. Conclusion: It is not mandatory to learn the language of the oppressors. Furthermore knowing English doesn't equate to being educated (Many world leaders use translators and its very common in Europe UN assembly and the list goes on and on). Language is an identity and the more you learn to appreciate your identity the more respect you get. Kama kiingereza changu hapo kimepinda, basi jua tu Kiingereza si lugha yangu
