History is one of the most exciting disciplines of all time. Frankly, it is the discipline that unifies all disciplines together. You just have to find the right way to show it to the public. I am glad I am an academic historian.

Hey Nick, congrats on all the views and subs. I have been following you for quite someone time and I really like your work. IDK if you are a historian, or if you majored in History back in college, but I love how you explore the history of the films you watch. By far, at least in my opinion, your best videos are the reviews for Dances with Wolfs, Apocalypto, and 1492. I graduated as an anthropologist and focused on archaeology, my thesis was about the Chanka culture from the Late Intermediate Period of Peruvian archaeology/ history (roughly 1000 C.E. to 1450 C.E). While watching your video about Apocalypto I could relate with the point you made about how a bad historical movie can be dangerous and create further misconceptions and ignorance. Anyways I really love your content. Your content shows how complex history can be and it debunks misconceptions people have about history. Again great job and congrats and may many more views and subscribers come your way. I apologize I cannot give money to your Patreon at the moment, I'm kinda broke cause of the holidays. However, I hope you read this message. I wanted to suggest films you should work on next. I would like to suggest that you review "Silence" by Martin Scorsese, or "The Man in the Iron Mask", or "Aguirre Wrath of God". I have seen Silence and it covers a fascinating period of Japanese period (The beginning of the Tokugawa period before it's total isolation from the rest of the world). The Man in the Iron Mask, which I know is based on the novel by Victor Hugo, is nostalgic for me. While growing up I didn't have cable TV, it was insanely expensive in my native Peru. So for entertainment, I had to watch whatever Peruvian television had to offer. On the Channel ATV, during the evening, they would show movies on Fridays and Saturdays. One of the movies that were replayed multiple times was The Man in the Iron Mask. And as far as Aguirre The Warth of God I haven't seen it but I have heard it is very historically accurate. Anyways I am sorry for the long comment. At one point I will be sure to send some money down your away, the quality of your work definitely deserves it.

There’s a reason the phrase ‘History is stranger than fiction’ exists... why invent stuff, especially when it’s so out of place in the wider historical narrative? I also don’t understand why people have to ‘modernise’ or make history ‘relatable’... the human story is *eternally relatable*

What makes this channel, Kings and Generals and the Great War channel (alongside it's World War II channel) so gosh darn popular and great for history people like myself is because you are keeping history alive while actual television stations of the same namesake abandons it's roots for...whatever they have got going on. One of my favourite films, entertaining, quirky and shinning a light on a time in history that changed music. 2. Danger Close, The Battle of Long Tan. The Battle of Long Tan is a cracking story. I was lucky to meet a Long Tan veteran. When asked what it was like he replied, "We left Nui Dat okay then It turned into a bugger of a day". Little known outside of Australia, this is one of the Vietnam War's great stories. 3. NARCOS. Seasons 1&2. The story of a man who made $420 Million US a week! Lost 10% of that to rodents in warehouses. Spent $2500 US a month on rubber bands for his money. The man who single handedly started Columbia's cocaine smuggling trade, bloody cartel wars and a hippopotamus plague. And the more I saw and read about Pablo Escobar, the weirder and more outrageous it got. Thanks again for such a great channel.

I've always had an interest in history. Maybe it is because I never went to college so I didn't get a chance to study the more detailed subjects of history other than US and European history. There is so much more to know and learn about all over the world and I have used KZbin to educate myself on other events in history. So Nick, you don't apologize for infrequent uploads. Quality takes time. Take your time and do it right. Thank you so much for educating me a bit about subjects I don't know much about and peaking my interest in those that I do.

HB is one of my favourite channels I'm subbed to. Because each video I get lost in the depth, detail and also explanation of historical events against some of the innacuracies of Hollywood.

There may be gaps between videos, Nick, but they are always worth the wait. I am never annoyed by the relative infrequency, but joyous when one pops up - always a very pleasant surprise. Your videos are high-quality, well-thought-out, well-researched, and extremely well-presented, and that's what draws us in. Nobody should be surprised by this well-deserved achievement of yours. Congratulations, and Merry Christmas.

History is fascinating. That's why I subscribed not only here, but Schologladitoria, Skallgrim, and Metatron. Congratulations on 1M subs. You deserve every single one.
