This story makes me realize how much I would have loved to have read Alan Moore’s Twilight Of The Superheroes. Moore intended to give the DC characters and universe a definitive end, feeling the floating timeline prevented that. Mark Waid and Alex Ross did something similar with Kingdom Come, but I wished Moore could have told the story he wanted. Sal brought this up during the Back Issues of Kingdom Come.

As someone who watched it from 8 to 18 when the show was originally aired, it was a fun show that took the themes it wanted to discuss seriously without going overboard with the drama with douses of humor added to the pathos. It had its fair share of great genuine moments and mixed humor in there to keep it light. Its not the best science fiction upon rewatch by me as an adult, but its not terrible, I still love the series and some moments are absolutely beautiful for certain characters that allow them to shine. I really like the show, but it isn't perfect, but its mix of humor is great like when O'Neill had flashes of the life of a Barber for I think 5 years and thought nothing of it besides it being relaxing, stuff like that made the show.

I loved this story. I liked how it explored that Death should mean Death in the Marvel Universe and seeing all of those heroes, but wish that they had more to do. If you're gonna have the entire Universe end=;let eveyrone have a cool shining moment.
@Ashguy7334 жыл бұрын
I like that you point out that Thanos under Starlin got over Death and had grown as a character since Infinity Guantlet, so many people seem to forget that after Infinity Gauntlet and at the end of Infinity War, Thanos basically was given the chance by Death to be granted the love he desired, if he kills Adam Warlock and he basically tells her no, its one of my main gripes with other writers and Thanos now, they keep trying to reinforce his obsession with Death, even though he go over it. Starlin really wrote Thanos in his existentialist stage well, its just the stories and plot around the characters weren't always stellar, however I do like this story. Edit: Also Doom with Bush and Gaddafi in the same panel is hilarious.
@mitchellregan214 жыл бұрын
Agreed about Thanos. Part of my gripes with Endgame was that they just killed Thanos and used a much less interesting version of him from the past. So much good material they didn't cover with that character.
@Ashguy7334 жыл бұрын
@@mitchellregan21 Well tbh I think MCU Thanos is more a combination of Hickman's Infinity Thanos and like a tiny bit of Starlin's version. Its not a complete carbon copy.
@langleymneely4 жыл бұрын
MJ Regan For me Thanos’ death (both versions) was surprising & incredibly fitting as Endgame really was acting as THE END of that saga in every way they could. I appreciate them not trying to keep anyone & everyone alive to feed a film version of the comic book sliding timeline that never has finality. Sure theres a lot of great story they could have done but that makes the deaths THAT more impactful.
@mitchellregan214 жыл бұрын
@@langleymneely Yeah, I just think they should have kept the same Thanos in Endgame.
@langleymneely4 жыл бұрын
MJ Regan I feel you on that, Endgame Thanos is far more fleshed out & interesting than 2014 Guardians Thanos, if one had to continue Id vote for scarred Endgame Thanos too, but that head chop was wildly shocking AND cathartic in the most depressing way right up front. lol

When I first picked this up, I skipped out after the first issue, I just did not care about this random pharaoh. I also find Genis Vells presence interesting, since he also had a story where he destroyed the universe and was the only physical being left, which may've been published the same month as issue 6 of this book. Genis also restarts everything and inserts himself back into the timeline, then is killed in a Thunderbolts book later (Quesada lost a bet to Peter David over the character and I personally think that contributed to the character getting perma-killed, given the details I've heard of Quesada being Salty and David ribbing him over it)
