Something to note about flying backwards, when you first learn this and try to fly normally, you may find that you can't or it feels hard for some reason, this is natural, your brain for some reason is trying to use the backward controls for normal flying, so just spend some time flying back and fourth between the goals like normal to correct this.

As a Diamond 2 trying to reach champ, the exercises involving flying backwards and/or without air roll around the edges really showed to me what I was lacking in the air, as I had little to no use for those mechanics in a competitive game. Usually, the mechanics I already had covered up what I needed to actually learn. Thank you so much Thanovic!

A big tip people don’t take seriously is the fact your boost is what moves almost 75% of your car the input from the analog stick is what twists the car than the timing of boost is what makes you move that direction, practice focusing on your boost when your flying goal to goal it will help you better control your cars angle and better your aerial control to eventually get better with the ball

This is probably one of the best videos on the topic. I’ve been playing for maybe 4-5 months, made it to diamond 2 in under 300 hours and could hit basic aerials, dribbles, flicks, and stuff like that, but struggled with anything in the air that wasn’t a basic aerial. It was starting to impact my games a lot, even with pretty good positioning and game sense, so In the last few weeks I’ve been using these same drills and my air control is SOO much better. I went from not being able to air dribble, to being able to air dribble with air roll and without, very consistently.

I think we currently have an air roll epidemic in RL. People think they have to glue down air roll because they see pros and KZbinrs do it. I see a lot of players in ranked that could be really good but end up playing bad because they are spinning the second they leave the ground. In most cases this serves no purpose and you can almost always get to the ball faster and get a more accurate touch just flying straight to the ball.
@daddyslilmonster420 Жыл бұрын

My skill level is about 05:00 in the video and my problem is, that I unlearn flying forward while training the backwards flying (if you know what I mean). After a while I'm pretty confident flying backwards but if I then switch back to forwards flying my brain doesn't want to. My workaround is to fly the long edges backwards and the short ones forwards. It's harder by a good bit but that's probably nessisary. As soon as I try spinning by holding air roll I lose all control. I have 0 idea how to turn or readjust my car while spinning, and no amount of practice seems to be making this any easier. I hope the in depth guide covers the basics of how to actually handle the movement of your car while spinning, because for the life of me I cannot find a guide anywhere that actually covers this, it just seems to be assumed that it comes naturally enough to everyone.

I have always played with air roll left /right on l1/r1. I have never used free air roll in game rly ever. I can hit ceiling shots, wall shots and such, but have never had that freestyle movement. Everything else is default (circle boost,) I recent rebinded power slide to r1 and like the change. After I watched a couple vids to see what the best controls are I moved my air roll right to L2 per zen video, and it’s fine but makes the half flip more complicated. The main air roll directional on square would be fine, but not using boost on circle and on r1 Is a way crazy change than the power slide one. Should I just fight trough?

Hi, I'm a C3-GC, wanted to share my experience switching my air roll to LT after watching that video. In a few words, I found it incredibly easy and intuitive compared to most mechs I try to learn. I can actually do rings quicker now than I could before. The only issue is I had to practice trigger discipline on my half flips and recoveries. It was annoying at first, but in the end, I feel like it tightened up my timing in regard to those 2 skills. It forced me to actively work on old skills I had written off. The reason our experiences differed is that I'm learning directional air roll for the first time. My friend who already knows directional air roll tried this and gave up in a day. I could still play my normal game and only had to change a couple habits. I could still air roll with a normal air roll. He, on the other hand, was trying to reteach himself how to aerial each game.
@aaronwingard3886 Жыл бұрын
Same here bro, trigger discipline isn’t really something you think about in the moment and every game is like learning again
@omster_ Жыл бұрын
Air roll right on RT doesn't make any sense, you're holding down throttle practically the whole time you're playing, compared to a much lower usage of the brakes on LT
@dylanpsimer4583 Жыл бұрын
@@omster_ I could see some advantages to having better trigger discipline on RT. Flip resets and jumping off walls/the ceiling for example. Holding acceleration on these surfaces messes with your timings. Another positive is if you're trying to use air roll right after a jump, such as trying to hit balls straight above you, it would save you time from having to let go of one button and hit another. If I learned anything from the LT air roll it's that small adjustments to your input timings make big differences in the consistency of mechs.
@dyzorted Жыл бұрын
Last szn gc3 here, I changed my ARL to left trigger (had them on left bumper) and obviously found it very easy to get the hang of. You have a lot more control over your touches and makes your movement more fluid. Maybe in the lower ranks it doesn't matter as much but here I can tell u that its showing its advantages very quickly
