Ok I really like this narration style, rather than being a strict serious script it feels like having a friend casually explain the game for you and it's a cozy and comfortable experience. Bringing up the konami announcement subject added more to that feeling. Comfy and really interesting ☺️

Imagine a horror game story with a speedrunning protagonist. The monsters are popping out of every corner doing their level best to scare the protagonist, who is beelining right past them without sparing them a glance, let alone shooting at them, to the hidden hallway the protagonist should have no way of knowing exists, before stopping and intentionally dislocating their ankle to turn 270 degrees in 1/30 of a second to enter the hallway with no decrease in walk speed and no signs of pain despite their feet now facing two different directions. Later, the protagonist is trapped in a locked room with monsters slowly approaching and a creepy monologue in the background when suddenly there's a rapid clicking. The monsters look to the protagonist whose hand is a twitching, inhuman blur as they turn the knob to the locked door 60 times a second, waiting for the first frame after the monologue to open it. Then they notice both hands are on the shotgun the protagonist is holding. Halfway through it starts getting really freaky when the protagonist walks into a room, turning to face one particular corner and continuously walking into it while hopping in place for 37 seconds, then suddenly twisting into a pretzel *still* with no apparent signs of pain and passing into the wall while the monsters stare on, horrified. Also: 42:27 If you're reading this Mr. ThaRixer, it's pronounced 'tair-oh' cards.

i'm really excited for shf, mostly because of who's writing it. ryukishi07 might not be a name most silent hill fans recognize (particularly in the west, even if most his visual novels and their manga/anime adaptations have been translated into english over the years), but i've been a fan of his work for well over a decade now. imo he's a great fit for writing that silent hill type of horror that combines psychological and supernatural elements

I love these Halloween SH speedruns. It's always interesting just how many tiny factors would go completely unnoticed by casual players. I hope you (and I) find time to play through SH4 and a good WR appears before next Halloween, but if it doesn't, I suppose the logical shuffle would be to Resident Evil, which I assume is fairly similar to speedrun besides inventory juggling replacing most puzzle work. Either way, I'll be sure to keep watching!

If there isn't a good Silent Hill 4 run to showcase by next Halloween, there are a few good speedruns for the game X-Files: Resist or Serve. It's a tie-in to the show with a similar setup to Silent Hill or Resident Evil, and I think it might be a good fit for this series. You could go for either the Scully or Mulder run by hansolo12.

I've recently finished the game for the first time and already started an extra new game, what I failed to notice not only the first but the second playthrough, is that you can place the books on the shelf at the first puzzle. So Heather ran through hell and back all while carrying several Shakespear volumes, probably on one of her vest pockets.

It's funny what you said about the mannequines later in the video. I worked a night shift in a college that had a nursing program (as part of construction on their facility). The only time I could work in their essentially practice hospital... basically by myself of course, in a room full of probably 20 hospital beds with mannequins in them that the students would practice on. I was a bit younger, 22 or so and used to constantly watch horror movies for a while. Il never forget the feeling of working in their space that night and just being so completely creeped out. The lights only seemed to work on one side of the room so I worked my way from that side out, if memory serves correct. . Either way Im not sure which is honestly worse. Seeing whats coming, or imaging what might. At least if you know you're dead, you know it's over. If you spend your life living in fear, it's not like you really had a chance to live at all. Thanks for the in depth video!!!!!

The only thing I'd say about all these new silent hill properties they're announcing is that if they're really experimenting with game styles and we get four different ideas of what the silent hill franchise could, or should, be going forward then I can forgive a few lemons or imperfect games for now if it means a renewed franchise in the future.
