🎃 Happy Halloween everybody! 🎃 Doing a video on this TAS has been on my bucketlist all the way back in March of this year. When i heard it was being released in late october, i really wanted to get it out on halloween night. The Silent Hill community were all so kind in helping make this video become a reality, so huge props to them. I apologize if the bit rate of the game kind of goes to shit when it gets really dark, youtube compresses the quality of this game really badly unfortunately. Hope you all enjoy regardless, and don't forget to try and guess the time of the TAS in the comments, see if you can nail it like i did 👀 Thanks again for being patient with me, the creation process is long and exhausting at times, but all worth it in the end. - Ricky

SCIENCE NERD HERE!!! The gold medallion would almost certainly NOT melt due to the chemicals poured on it. Gold comes from the group of metals including platinum, palladium, rhodium, and osmium, among a few others, These are called the "noble metals". One of the things that makes this group stand out is its lack of reactivity. Gold really likes just being gold, and doesnt want to form compunds with other elements and chemicals. In terms of acid, in order to melt gold, you need a special mixture of Nitric and Hydrochloric acid. This is called Aqua Regia. When gold is mined, mercury metal is used because it also likes to mix with gold and can be used to pull it out of ore. Mercury would do exactly diddly squat nothin' to a clenched zombiehand. SO! unless you used a bottle of Aqua Regia, your gold metal would likely be totally fine. Youd just have to wipe off the hand goop.

10:28 Gold requires a specific compound called Aqua Regia to be melted, in the game only hydrochloric acid (same stuff as in your stomach) is poured on it, having no tangible effect on the medallion
@t_r_sa3 жыл бұрын
just a small thing about your comment at 10:28 the game says when you examine the acid that it is "concentrated hydrochloric acid." considering the medallion is made of Gold, based on the name of the item, hydrochloric acid by itself doesn't have enough strength to corrode Gold. Aqua regia, a combination of hydrochloric acid and nitric acid, can, however. its one of the only (if not the only) acid that can melt gold and platinum

Regarding the hand gripping the gold medallion: while aqua regia (hydrochloric + nitric acid) does melt gold easily, that bottle (as stated in its description) contains hydrochloric acid alone, which would not harm gold in any way, so it is actually scientifically accurate. They let you play the entire school level, which was pretty generous, but nothing before that, so no introduction. So, we didn't know what the radio sound meant, and we didn't realize you had to stomp enemies when they're down. Needless to say, we kept getting jumpscared by enemies getting back up and grabbing us when our back was turned. (I intended to just make a comment about my love for silent hill but it turned into something much longer sorry. But i'm sure someone will appreciate this.) Ah silent hill. A series I have long had a fascination for ... but not at first. I had heard of the series but generally a younger me avoided horror games cause I was afraid of everything. As time went on I started to become slightly more interested in them. Especially when my friends brought over silent hill homecoming to play (Yes I know it's a terrible game but we didn't know that at the time we were just having fun.) At first I noped out. But when I realized they were going to be playing it for a while I decided I had best get comfortable and try to watch it. Eventually participating. I don't remember if I ever got a chance to play but I tried to help them figure stuff out at least. Annnnd for a good while that would be it for me and horror games. Outside of the indie horror game boom that let a lot of now beloved youtubers rise. Markiplier to name one. But my favorite was psychadelicsnake. Although he was enjoying horror well before it exploded in popularity and chose to not be a part of that cause he didn't want in on the "in crowd" at the time. But he introduced me to a game series called fatal frame. It was disturbing and intriguing all at the same time. And I was deeply invested in the stories of all 4 games. Especially the first 2. (We don't talk about the 5th one.) And to this day he is the only one I can watch do a playthrough of those games despite the poor quality bad mic and loud screaming. He took an interest in the lore and tried to get everything he could. Everyone else just joked and made fun of the story. Which really annoyed me. Sure snake made jokes to. But ... idk it was more tolerable at the time for me. He of course played silent hill and plenty of other horror games that caught many people's attention. But my love for silent hill would spark of my own accord in an unlikely place. Left 4 dead 2. A mod map was made that was more or less the silent hill 1 campaign in left 4 dead 2. It was a blast to play through. And as I realized that I liked it. I got curious about the rest of the series and started looking more into the games. It was around this time that I found various videos talking about how beautiful horror game's atmosphere and soundtracks can be. I can't really put into words what this made me feel. Or even what happened next. But everything kinda clicked after that. And my fascination has only grown since.

You already know that a lot effort has been put into this when the maker of the video spent hours between research and playing the game again for himself.

What a gem of a video! Excellent commentary, both very entertaining and informative. I'll eagerly wait for Silent Hill 2 next year if it really happens!
