100% right. ALL you really need to do is "how was your day?" i've been married 20 years this past june, and i still ask "how was your day" EVERY day of the week. and after 20 years, my wife STILL says "thanks for listening, hon" EVERY day of the week when i let her talk about her day. sometimes she'll actually break down and cry a little and say "you're the ONLY PERSON who asked me how my day was today, you're the ONLY ONE who cares." and you know, that's often pretty true...your spouse often is the only person who really cares how your day was. guys, for real--just do this one thing. it's like magic. women should do it too! :)

Then realized guys don't like to vent like girls do; so I taught him what he needed to know. I told him he didn't even need to listen if I was venting, just nod sometimes, make a face, and when I pause for a while go "That bitch!". Few weeks later I was venting, paused, and got an enthusiastic "That bitch!" and I was like damn straight, so anyways this bitch... everyone was happy.

Whereas men are the exact opposite, 1) I feel like a little bitch venting to people, 2) why would I want to burden other people with my burdens, they don't deserve that, 3) other's feeling sorry for you and being a yes man is fatal to male confidence, 4) if I talk about it it just brings it BACK UP, I'd almost forgot about it and moved on, BUT NOW we're back on that thing, venting. 5) and most important, if I have a problem I'm trying to solve, the ONLY reason I'd rant to you about it is I'm ASKING FOR HELP. Not a listener, I want solutions, it's why I'm telling you the information, I want advice from it. Why would I be communicating without a purpose? That's just talking to talk. This is why modern therapy is horrific for men, you talk for hours just to get "what do YOU think you should do?"...motherfucker I'm paying you hundreds of dollars an hour for YOU to provide that answer, if I called my electrician who charges $150/hr and he asked me how to wire something, I'm seeking a better electrician.

When a new posh neighborhood popped up down the road, you wouldn't believe all the empty gas station mini bottles of alcohol that are tossed out the car window on their way home. Even a rich man gotta drink before he gets home to face his woman.

I guess I'm a good wife because one thing that kind of annoyed me in the beginning of marriage was how my husband came straight home all the time. He never wanted to go out with friends. We're both introverts and I was desperately craving alone time. I knew it was bad when I was almost begging him to go to a strip club with co-workers when he mentioned they were going, lol. But he also always came home to a clean house, quiet time, dinner on the table and we don't have kids. I learned to love that he came straight home from work. So ladies if your man doesn't come straight home from work, you need to work on creating a different environment for him that makes him want to come straight home.
