It's long but the video they did with Audiotree called Jinjer From Nothing. is a video quite a few people have reacted to. It has live sessions of three of their songs and in between those songs the band talks about the origins of the band, their writing procedure and their friendships.

@@coder4liberty Ya, I think the Audiotree video is a great reaction subject for people who are relatively new to Jinjer but are not put off by metal or harsh vocals. It's an awesome crash course for those who don't need "training wheels!"

This is one of my favorite live Jinjer performances, Tatiana looks like she is having the time of her life. I fell in love with this band about 8 years ago and I think they just keep getting better.

For context there were I think at least two pandemics in Europe prior to the global one everyone is familiar with where masks were a thing so they actually have more experience with it than people in the US. Eastern Europe has considerably less regulations on working conditions and environmental cleanliness than most western nations do so the band lived and grew up in that environment. in particular the band is from the Donbas region which has/had a lot of coal mining and metalergy plants where working conditions were pretty bad and the waste products from coal mining were just piled up into giant artificial mountains devoid of vegetation called "slag heaps", otherwise known in Ukraine as "terricons". The Jinjer song "No Hoard of Value" is about those operations and the miners who worked in the mines (some of the best lyrics Tatiana has ever written). This song itself is actually older than 7 years. It was on their 2012 album Cloud Factory. This is the current lineup playing the song live. The Cloud Factory album was done before they had a proper record company but when they signed to Napalm records the album was so good that they re-released it under the Napalm label which is pretty unusual. The reggae influence is primarily from Tatiana. Prior to Jinjer she was in several bands including a few Reggae bands and for years wore dreadlocks (she's fully decked out in dreads in several videos including the OMV for Sit Stay Roll Over and the official live version of Outlander). Two of her influences are Gwen Stephani and Amy Winehouse in fact in this video the only tattoo she has on her left arm is of Amy Winehouse. Those influences show up a few other places including their song Judgement and Punishment. The best video of that is her one take performance of the song.

The whole Cloud Factory album consists of protest songs. Pollution, Oligarchy, Oppression. Keep in mind the band comes form a part of Ukraine that was invaded by Russia in 2014. With war still plaguing their homeland they still have a lot to protest. ~PEACE to Ukraine!~ (edit: The song 'Rogue' from their upcoming album is a giant F**K YOU to Putin.)

Your interpretations were bang on - well done! This is a performance of a re-arrangement of the track for one guitar (2 guitarists played on the studio track, but the 2nd guitarist left the band before this performance), and it outshines the studio recording in every possible way, right down to the feedback. I love that the reggae-esque outro is a hat-tip to Bob Marley, who is of course well known for protest songs and of whom Tati is a big fan. The way the outro combines a reggae riff & rhythm with a jazzy vocal style & a bluesy guitar solo is musically ingenious - I've never heard anything else like it. It is a little taste of the more progressive tendencies that were beginning to emerge at the time of the song's release. I think that the best introduction to Jinjer is the video Audiotree | From Nothing. It's a brief, interesting and entertaining crash-course on Jinjer through the band's own words and live studio performances of 3 great tracks from their 2021 album Wallflowers ("Vortex", "Wallflower" and "Dead Hands Feel No Pain"). The live performances are *awesome,* and their discussions give you a good sense of their history, relationships with each other and their attitudes about their art. It's just under 24 minutes long, but well worth a reaction.

They grew up in a poor coal and heavy industrial region of Ukraine known as the Donbass which was heavily polluted. Tati's dad was coal miner - No Hoard Of Value is about that industry. The bass playthrough of WIGBTO is cool if you want to dig deeper into this song. Home Back is about their hometown Horlivka north of Donetsk city getting caught in the 2014 war. It's been basically on the front line ever since.

I’m assuming that doesn’t do damage to her voice? I don’t know that I’ve ever heard anyone sing like that before!💜💜💜
@davejohnston2197
@davejohnston2197 4 күн бұрын
It doesn't. She uses her false folds to growl, not her actual vocal chords. It's a technique that uses other parts of the throat to make sounds. She can also combine the two for more range, but she has excellent technique, so minimal damage. Oddly, she has more range with her growls than her clean voice, which is itself beautiful. Tati is a beast.

There are quite a few female vocalists doing false fold also known as harsh vocals. Tatiana is one of the best at what she does. False fold growls put no strain on your vocal cords.

@@wayned8077 Well that's great , But this is a reaction video I want to see Zacks reaction , I've seen the video by it self and hundreds of time from reactors , but if your gonna make the video so thin it looks like ghosts on the screen why bother , just put up a picture of the band and play the song , reactors should put up a warning that they did that for copyright issues , think of the viewers for a change , like the ones they ask for likes n subs , ive been watching reaction videos since 2018 I know why they do it .
