Yes the parents are to blame but the boy's more than likely a master manipulator too. It becomes a survival instinct in some situations, and his would fit that bill. I still feel sorry for him but would have a near impossible time taking him for his word. Junkies are the best of the best among liars and manipulators.

Lol it drives me crazy. It's because from my guess they are using essentially a camera system to track his finger, it's not a big touchscreen. So the cameras have to send the images to an algorithm that figures out the location of his finger based on the images sent to it. Then theres the issue of it being a huge screen and sending information to a screen like that is generally delayed. The combination of the two things caused a huge amount of latency, but dr Phil seems to use it just fine.

If you are dealing with suicide, drugs, relationship problems, just know that you may not feel like you are worth much, but you are worth everything, and you will only increase your self worth as you continue to fight, you aren't losing resources, your gaining courage, willpower, wisdom, strength, and love. And you’ve gotta think- we don’t know the REASON he was on some of those heavier meds and for how long. Things like promethazine w/ codeine is typically given to kids for a few days for a bad cough, or right after a tonsillectomy. So those heavier medications he probably only took once for a short period of time. Dr. Phil’s staff DEFINITELY exaggerated the list and not only did they do that, they purposely left out the reasons and durations for those medications. Very manipulative on the show’s part.

It's hard for a person to understand or to recognize when or if they have a parent who is a liar or delusional. You expect your parent to love you and be honest and not to lie about things they have done that have damaged you. Unfortunately I think sometimes the healthiest thing in these cases is to just learn to let go - and not include people in your life who continuously hurt you no matter what your biological relationship is.

I strongly suspect that she is a functioning alcoholic, but still an an alcoholic nonetheless. The audacity of her to expect him to admit to being an addict and having a plethora of mental issues painting him out to be the biggest mistake of their life all the while denying her own alcoholism and the abhorrent things she said to her son? All because she can't handle the guilt she knows she deserves to feel. So effing sad.

I think Tommy is telling the truth. I absolutely believe him when he says his mother wished she had had an abortion and she told him that he was a waste of a perfectly good kid and they favored his brother over him. Why? Because AS SOON as Dr. Phil confronted her about the truth, she burst into tears and started playing the victim. These are NOT things that a child would just make up. These are NOT things a child wouldn't remember correctly.....EVEN if he IS doped up on 50 different medications. This is a little boy who DESPERATELY wants help. He WANTS his mother to love him and acknowledge that he is a worthy son too. And SHAME on the parents for making him think he is not worthy.

He keeps saying “How will I get better if you keep telling lies?” He’ll need to get better despite his parent’s behavior.

I am just going to go out on a limb here after looking at Mom with the red skin and grinding jaw that it’s likely this poor guy has fetal alcohol spectrum disorder. If so, he would very likely be unable to regulate his temper, would appear to be “strange” (FASD is often diagnosed as autism as symptoms present similarly), have zero concept of social norms, etc. These parents are some of the most epic gas lighters I’ve seen. This poor kid never had a chance.

That mother is so clearly not sober. She’s drunk or on something, I can’t believe DR Phil didn’t bring that up. The way her mouth is moving and her eyes

If he has anger issues then the world is done. Well handled and appears to be barely medicated if at all. His Mother, however, needs to take a leaf out of his book and have some ownership. Keep going young man, be strong and God Bless. Same to your parents as well. It would be a happy conclusion to this if you all managed to get on top of things.
