If someone broke into your home, in most cases it wasn't by accident. Burglars look well in advance when you're going out of the house and when you're coming back. They even know when you are going on vacation. That's because they scout your house or apartment.
What tricks they use and how you can tell if your house is being watched, I'll show you in this video.
Basically, you should watch out for anything strange. This includes stones in front of the front door or somewhere on the driveway, an upturned doormat, decorations that have been knocked over or even advertising flyers on the front door.
Because when these things are placed, the burglar knows if you are home or not. Because if you are home, you will fix these things quickly. So if you notice such things, you should pay attention to your surroundings.
Also, if you notice such things with your neighbors, be sure to make them aware of it!

Sometimes the burglar will put leaves in your driveway to see if you will move it. Sometimes burglars will make your grass grow to determine if you are home mowing the lawn. Sometimes burglars will make it dark outside, so if you use lights in your home they will know you are home.

Pull the tape off the lock go in your house put the tape back on the lock and close the door and sit there and wait on whoever it is with a security tool

Who says they are just going to burgle you? There is no implied contract and they could be there to rape and kill you. If they don't come in, then they don't have to face cause and effect in action.

I had stuff moved etc. Then I realised the cops were doing surveillance on the wrong unit. I put a camera up and then watched them watching my neighbour as they finally got the right unit, after 2 weeks they finally saw my camera in a pot plant and they went away. Turns out they don't like being watched.

If you are home for days they may think you are away for days if you dont open the door. I live next door to drug dealers and i wondered why stones were put by my door or under my door. Now i understand. I found leaving the light on outside my door scared them as they thought i was watching to call police on them and it kept them away. They signaled with a light outside their door to their clients

You did not mention bump keys, which allow the burglars to walk in and out of your house. You can change the locks every day - it makes no difference.

A quality dead lock in addition - not just a yale or similar - is a sensible precaution. No lock is 100% (locksmiths would go out of business) but some very common locks are especially useless against anyone with a few simple tools who can watch and understand a KZbin video.

A very similar range of issues has been published in a number of popular newspapers relatively in the UK. But beyond that, these are actually quite well known, and several of them are simply obvious means of checking for tampering. The use of coded chalk marks here go back at least as far as the early nineteenth century (and probably much earlier) for vagants using chalk or a knife. Don't shoot the messenger. You are better off informed about this.
