Thank you very much. This is a very interesting nuance of the language. As always, a clear and understandable explanation. Can I ask a question that is not related to the topic of the lesson, to which I have not yet received an answer? There is no concept of grammatical gender in English. How do native speakers understand what kind of word it is if it occurs in the text for the first time and it is not yet clear what it is about? For example, the title of Arthur Conan Doyle's short story "The Lonely Cyclist". How can you tell by the name whether it's a man or a woman? Or here's another example. In the movie "The Nim's Island" because of this, there was even a misunderstanding, since the girl Nim did not understand from the correspondence on the Internet who she corresponded with. She was amazed when she realized that she had communicated with a woman, not with a man.

Interesting question! Yes, most nouns in English are neutral, but there are some word endings that indicate the noun represents a woman: “ess” is an example.

For example ; I am not that good in English. I must work hard. I need to repeat so much. Thanks for your video.
@Learnamericanenglishonline Жыл бұрын
Yes, that's a good example, but most people use the preposition "at" in this case: I'm not that good at English. Here's another example: I'm not that good at playing guitar. I'm not that good at ____ (gerund or noun or both).

Yes, perhaps. It depends on who is making the observation and how he or she perceives the degree of coldness.

@@Learnamericanenglishonline thank you for answering me. I would not be too annoying, but how it depends?
