Who here is in the 'fallen off the wagon' club? Apartment is a mess, gained almost 10 pounds, havent been to the gym in two months.... but I had a happy Christmas season, and I know I'll get back there with the home. Also, those meals look delicious, if you ever feel like making a meal video, or a cook along, I'm sure a few people would be interested :) I wish everyone a very happy new year, and just remember - even if everything is a domestic disaster, how do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time 💛🎉

My husband and I have dates every week too. I learned from my parents (and he from his) that dating after marriage is more important than dating before marriage. Due to his work schedule for the first year we didn't have the ability to, but we've only missed maybe 2 weeks a year (typically during the holiday season) since.

Hi! I want to thank you for your comment. I had never heard of the S.H.E. method until I saw this. I started looking into it and love how hands on it is. And one time but ongoing. I think it will help me stay on top of things and also easily get my kids involved with cleaning. They like to help but not be told what to do, while not knowing what to do despite the mess in front of them. I've got all my supplies and am in the process of filling out all my cards. I just wanted to thank you because if not for THIS specific comment, I never would have found it! Have a wonderful day!!💖

I just want to encourage young mom's, when the kids get older, they can do the chores. It's the best, I now just have to check chores, not do them. I have 4 kids and a tiny house by the way so nobody come after me lol.
@RhymeandRamblings24 күн бұрын
Please share more about this. I have older kids and it’s tough to get help with chores. How do you assign which chores to whom? Do they change monthly? Do they choose when to do them? Any advice is greatly appreciated.
@forceofnature77724 күн бұрын
@RhymeandRamblings Sure! I have 4 kids so I split the house into 3 sections because my youngest is just a helper, so she goes and does what her older siblings ask her to help with. So the first section is dishes counters sitting room. Second is bathroom, laundry, playroom and entry way. Third is dining room sweep/mop, bedroom and hallway. We keep a chart on the fridge and only change the names weekly. My oldest also has trash as a chore, he does that every week regardless. So after dinner everyone quickly does chores and whatever time they have after they can use for gaming. If they don't do thier chores they lose screen time for the next day all together unless they were given an exception for some reason. When someone is sick, the other kids have to do half of the sick kids chores. It sounds pretty strict but it's not. My husband really took the lead on making this happen and talked to them about everyone pitching in and working together. It's definitely not always perfect but it's way better than being the only one cleaning. Obviously you will have to teach each child how to do each chore, make sure you are still available to help and again, my house is pretty small so it's not an overwhelming amount of work for them. I personally deep clean a couple things a month just cause they definitely aren't doing deep cleaning, but it's not scheduled I just do it when it looks like I should. Putting away laundry is also each person's own responsibility. Whoever is on laundry just sorts it into piles of who it belongs to.
@RhymeandRamblings23 күн бұрын
@@forceofnature777 This is amazing, thank you so much! I’ll definitely be trying this out, with lots of patience ofc. Quick question: when you say no screentime, do you put up their phones and turn off wifi? How do they react to this and does it happen very often? Thank you again!
@forceofnature77723 күн бұрын
@RhymeandRamblings Glad I could help:) Screens are pretty limited in my house so if one child is told no screens, the others will remind them lol. They don't have phones, we have two Xboxes and then they can take my phone or use the computer to stream a show on Netflix or something similar. It's not the end of the world to them if they lose screens, because there is plenty of other things to do but they will feel left out if everyone else is playing wobbly life together and they can't. So I know the incentive or punishment will look different for every family, you just have to consider what privileges they won't have access to if they don't pitch in and do chores. Also we never made it like a punishment, it's been established that we are a family who all play our parts, mom already has to do the majority of the shopping and cooking and driving etc... so chores, feeding the dog and rinsing dishes after eating is their job.

I tried every one of Ariel’s experimental systems. First Flylady Not comprehensive enough. Too much email and too much reminders. Then Clean Mama. It seems I was always cleaning. I skipped the English lady and landed on Motivated Moms. I absolutely love it. I subscribed and also have the app. I like having the files to see the big picture. The reminders come with such sweet enco and there’s only one a day. I like how I can sort by room or frequency. And the daily tastes, I’ve got them mastered and it takes hardly any time. Routines work if they fit your mindset cuz you can’t live someone’s life who may be an energizer bunny when you resemble a tree sloth most mornings.

I came here hoping this advice would be generally applicable, not just for moms or something. The intro had me a bit worried it wouldn't be applicable to me as someone whose life is a far, FAR cry from busy (yet I have, until very, VERY recently felt stressed out almost constantly about things I need/want to do, even if often I covered that stress under layers of trying to just have fun), but it was. Most of these are actually pretty close to the things that I've tried that have been the most successful. I think maybe most helpful would be my closest equivalent to the "date night" thing, which is...not at all the same as I am not married and living with my parents. But I've been spending more casual one on one time with my mom lately and I think that's helped me feel closer to her, and thus helped me want to do more of the types of things she wants me to do (like chores and stuff, which I've really struggled with) and...also probably just helped me to stop feeling so stressed because my relationship with her HAD been a major source of stress until sometime...this year, probably? Anyway, it's been really nice lately. Scheduling breaks is an interesting one because I kind of tried before (more for my laptop than my phone) but was never really able to get it to stick. I recently made some adjustments to how I handle tabs that I want to keep around for later (thank you Google Chrome tab group save feature) and made it a TOUCH harder to access Chrome by unpinning it from my task bar and that seems to be helping so far. This was the most recent change that I made but it seems to possibly be helping a LOT so far. It feels like my computer is a tool now that I can just use when I have a specific reason to do so instead of just something I use to pass the time or go to out of habit. This change was just a few days ago, so I guess we'll see if it lasts, but I'm feeling pretty hopeful about it. I may need to try audio books sometime if I do find myself falling back into more stress because one of the FIRST things I TRIED that seemed to kind of help was taking my phone with me when I wanted to try to do chores or something and watching some stories in a game I like while doing that, but...well...it's a little harder when you have to read the stories.😅 Thank you for making this video, I feel like it seems like much more practical advice for me than most stuff like this I've come across.

I get so excited when I see you have a new video! I want to eat healthier, exercise, and get the house cleaned while also finishing the massive pile of physical books and my kindle library...all at the same time! Thank you for the reminder that is not going to happen. I'm going to start with 3 nights a week workout before shower. I am also going to use a tracker and do at least 10 min of dishes every night to hopefully get that mess in check. No moving on until those 2 things are habits. Once I do a few weeks of night exercise I think I'll be able to go back to the morning exercise class I like. I haven't done anything in like a month so I need to work up to the class again.

First, love your videos. I agree about setting your day up for success. But I go about it a little differently. I’m single (no kids), but a busy work life, so the end of my day is the most stressful and the start of my day is the most relaxing. So I don’t have time at night to think about tomorrow. I do clean up at night, I don’t like to go to bed with dishes in the sink, dirty countertops, etc. But the thought of getting ready for tomorrow is just too much for me. But my dogs wake me up at 5am every day, so I have 2 1/2 hours before leaving for work. That’s when I can get ready for the day and even do an errand or two. I think it is about the season you are in and planning accordingly.

I double, even triple dare you, scrape your dinner plates first and put them straight in the dishwasher. No washing or soaking them. Do not rinse either. Just put them in dirty. Try it. I’ve been doing it for decades. I load as I go during the day, put on a hot wash overnight and empty every single morning when kettle is boiling. I won’t sit down for my instant coffee, until the dishes are out away. This had changed my entire life. I’m a big fly lady fan, I know you are too ! ❤🎉

This was great. I enjoy your cleaning videos but I like having something new to watch. You keep it real and I love that! Very encouraging 😊

Ariel, you're hilarious, your videos are always a pleasure to watch. I was contemplating getting back on the Flylady wagon with all of the routines, but your video reminded me that it would be better to start with the babysteps again instead of going whole hog, and I'll be much more successful that way. Happy New Year!
