I think the leading cause of homicide of women is when they leave abusive partners. People think you’re safe when you’ve left them; it’s actually the most dangerous time if you can’t secure protection / they go to prison. Even then it’s still seriously dangerous. That's absolutely true; also, strangulation by an intimate partner (non-consensual, of course) is one of the biggest predictors of future homicide. If your partner does this to you, please, please get out before it's too late. And I don't mean to over-simplify - I know how incredibly difficult it is to leave. It takes a huge amount of courage; so be proud, OP, of what you've managed to accomplish. And for anyone out there who's thinking of - or trying to - leave: there is nothing to be ashamed of if it takes a few tries. You haven't failed, you haven't let anyone down. Just remember that your life is worth something, and you deserve to live it. Congratulations again on getting out, Elle! I’m amazed I never heard of this case! I’m a DV advocate that in rural Oklahoma (right outside of OKC) and I’m going to send this to all my coworkers.Thanks for covering this, Mike! A lot of people ask why doesn’t someone leave but never think of the dangers AFTER getting out of the relationship. It’s actually more dangerous to leave because the abuser loses power and control of their victim and will be pretty pissed. This case breaks my heart because I see women (and men) like her every day & this is the harsh reality of domestic violence.

A safety plan for leaving is _critical,_ and I think that, fortunately, the word is spreading more widely that leaving is the most dangerous time for a DV victim. I do also wish that people would talk more about one other thing Mike mentioned happened to Tiffany, and that's strangulation. As I'm sure you know, there is no better predictor that a woman's partner will kill her than a prior non-fatal strangulation. We can't convince everyone to leave, or that the violence almost always gets worse, or that most abusers will not change... but we _can_ tell them that once he's strangled you, you are 750% more likely to be killed by him than you were the day before. Some women are waiting for a "red line crossing" moment and (again, as I'm sure you're familiar), much too often, they only realize that whatever it was, it's been crossed, during the final act of abuse resulting in death. Being able to give women a concrete, specific red line, with such a good factual, rational basis behind it, has saved a lot of lives. I'm so grateful to all the entities and organizations that cared enough to collect and analyze the data to find these kinds of things, and I wish more people knew.

The crazy thing about this, I've met Keegan before. She was an ADA with a case my boyfriend at the time was in jail facing prison time over. I remember asking her a simple question and her attitude !!! such a huge red flag. At the time, I thought how differently it would have gone if she weren't an "officer of the court". The state of Oklahoma wasn't even going to give this dude anytime for DV, they never do. She honestly would have won the case just by asking her why she stayed and didn't file charges for so long. Every officer who came across her all banged up should be held responsible too because they had the option to file anyway. The DA of Oklahoma Co. doesn't prosecute DV anyway so it would've been pointless but still. As much as the local news covered this, I never knew how seriously violent his abuse was, it's so clear that him killing her was next. Anyway, I knew she was a dumb bitch when I met her. If I know anything about Oklahoma justice, I heard she was from old money, there's probably a good deal coming her way.

OK sounds about 30 years behind basic best practices in handling DV cases. BTW -- "dumb bitch?" It's unfathomable to you because you're a healthy person who probably just moved on from exes, and hoped they'd find happiness eventually. But narcissists aren't made that way. They want their exes to be dead, not living. For revenge, as an ego boost, to stop them finding someone better, as a way to control and reverse the narrative of the relationship (which they'll tell their new victims, while pretending to be the victim). If you can understand that part of the narcisstic mindset, this kind of thing won't ever be a surprise to you anymore :/

The answer is Yes. Abusers work by manipulating so the lawyer may have believed he was set up. Abusers "future fake" so he could have her convinced that the ex only wanted him for his money or he was going to live this great life with this lawyer, etc. It's how abusers work or Tiffany would not have been a victim within the first month. Their charisma of love bombing and future faking (making great plans with you that will never come to fruition) is to cover the actual deep abyss of vitriol, anger, despair, violence, contempt, and hate that they are truly comprised of. Until the mask of charisma drops many people believe them and can get them to do lots of things you wouldn't believe.

Deadbeat is a major understatement in my opinion - my heart goes out so much to Tiffany Eichor and the horrors she had to endure at this monster's hand. Sadistic, evil monster seems a more apt term for this man - and yes, the death penalty absolutely should be sought. The brutal, relentless violence she was a victim of again and again is just unbelievable - only for her to spend her last moments on Earth at this man's mercy yet again, enduring prolonged pain that's impossible to comprehend. Unbelievably tragic and heartbreaking beyond words. Now even her memory is shrouded and partially obscured by the media sensationalism surrounding her tormentors which is yet another insult. Even in death she seemingly isn't free of him, and never will be. Not unless we focus on her and try and set her apart from these wretched people, and celebrate her lone bravery and strength for attempting to break free of him. R.I.P. As for planting drugs, here's a story for ya... when I was like 13/14 I pissed out a local bully kid who was like 15/16 at the time, because I started hanging out with his ex girlfriend. He didn't like it at all and started looking for me to beat me up but I always managed to dodge him somehow. After a while he got pissed and concocted a plan. So this one day I came home and my mom just looked at me kinda pissed and said something along the lines of: "Once dad comes home, we're gonna have a chat.". When that happened I was always shitting myself, but I knew I didn't do anything wrong so I was only half shitting myself lol. So my dad comes home, we go to the living room and they close the door behind us. We all sit and my mom says: "Look, we had this letter in our mailbox saying that you owe someone for drugs and that you buy from them quite often. They even included a bag here..." and sure fucking enough, there it was, a little baggie with a white substance. I was dumbfounded and ofc I denied everything. My parents believed me because I was a straight-shooter but also, the letter clearly had a non-adult hand writing. Then it hit me, that it must have been that guy... They ended up flushing that stuff down the toilet and we were cool. But damn, for me it was like something from a movie. I couldn't believe someone would actually do something like that IRL. As you said this guy must really be something for Keegan to throw her life away like she did or she must have really been missing that special something from her life, who knows 🤷♀️. It's just really sad that 3 people had to die before this piece of rubbish was put behind bars 😔. Can't wait to see the final outcome. As always thanks for another interesting story told in true Mike style. Stay safe & remember we love ya.

He was a nut for sure. My cousin was the ex before this ex and he was a piece of work. Cocaine was in full force. Didn't seem to be a ladies man but he was very possessive.

Usually new partners of abusive people are told “my ex is a lying crazy bitch, I never did any of that!” And it’s fair enough for the new girl to take his side. It’s happened to me until I saw their true colors. But to be his lawyer, having the evidence laid in front of you, and to still take his side? And then to SLAUGHTER her and her family? That’s a whole different level of evil.

How a woman that deranged was able to get a degree to be a lawyer I can't even understand...
@m.y.o.b.7242 жыл бұрын
Well, she didn't have to undergo a mental health examination to become a lawyer. Apparently people like her are booksmart and can pass the bar exam, but common sense is another story. And yes, she's definitely an evil person for participating in a triple homicide. Just bc you're a lawyer, judge, or a cop doesn't automatically make you a law abiding, decent human being. She was most likely in her profession for the money.

Mike, was that "circuitous route" from studying _electrical engineering_ to law an exceedingly clever and subtle pun, or a terrific accident? You can tell me.

It would be cool if Mike added historic murders. Where my mom lives over by Greenbriar, WV where back in the day a man was convicted of his wife’s murder because her ghost visited her mother and told her. She had been buried and they took it as an accident. There was an exhumation and a conviction. Hearing his take would be brilliant!
