The fact that she was upset about the van being ruined, and the fact that she belted out that it was probably a drunk-driving accident (when her mom was almost a non-drinker) told me all I needed to know about this chick. She really got away with murder. Three years is about 80 too few.

I fully believe she was involved in it and intentionally lied to them how "abused" she was to get them amped up and she kept at it for probably months if not longer! Until they were ready to handle her dirty work for her. I can't believe the jury bought her lies! I mean come on! When they told her it was done, she didn't cry about what they did to her mom, she Cried about The VAN!!!! An inanimate object!!! For crying out loud!!! If that doesn't spell out Guilty I don't know what does! What an absolute disgrace!!! I'm so tired of seeing "people" get away with things like this! With little to no consequences!!! It's just so very sad. May she Rest in Paradise.

She was a kid. That's why it's illegal to have sex with her. She should not have been tried. The "adults" should have talked some sense into her. Not encourage her plan of getting rid of Mom, if there ever was one.

FYI for anyone who cares to know, those guys tried to break that poor woman's neck over the course of HOURS. Including stomping & standing on her neck and pulling/ twisting her head as hard as they possibly could. They started in court that she was begging them to get it over with. She suffered so much it's disgusting. I can't imagine how much worse it would have been if they didn't let her get drunk first. What classy gentlemen..

Reading through these comments all these months later, and it’s shocking to me how almost every comment is about the two guys committing the crime, and almost nobody even talked about the daughter who damn near got away with murder, serving only 3 years. She was the sole purpose behind the murder, the two guys wouldn’t have done this if SHE didn’t make up all that stuff and tell them about it. A damn shame to hear she’s free to walk this earth now. There’s a special place in Hell for people who play a major role in their parent’s murder.

Maybe because you're basing your opinion on a 20 minute youtube video and the 24 people that were impaneled on both juries had the totality of the evidence presented with which to make their decisions. Based on this video I would agree with your opinion but both juries disagree. I'm guessing that the evidence presented was not damning. Like, what teenager hasn't told their friends/partners they wished their parents were dead? It doesn't look like the prosecution had substantive evidence that she was actively involved in the planning of the actual murder beyond a reasonable doubt, which is the burden of proof in a criminal case.

Yep, the darling daughter's primary concern about the condition of the burnt out vehicle her mother died in, rather than the condition of her mother, spoke volumes! She went free because of her tender age, but that was a reason for imprisonment, not clemency! Now she's free to do all kinds of damage to people and, God forbid, have children of her own. Soon history will repeat. Ironically she'll have cause to identify with her murdered mother when she has troubled teens of her own to deal with.

I don't recall it being stated there were texts and emails recovered of her encouraging or arranging the murder of her mother. I recall the officer saying they had recovered the computers of all three of them and that just because something is deleted doesn't mean it can't be recovered, but not anything about there being any that actually showed that. Did I miss something? If it were the case that such evidence was shown in court I can't understand how only 2 people in the first trial were willing to convict and the jury in the second trial only found her guilty of criminally negligent homicide and not at least conspiracy to commit murder.

upsetting video. This young woman got away with killing her own mother. Jurors must've felt sorry for this 16 year old. She set up the murder, and dummy boyfriends did the killing. She manipulated everyone, including the duped jury. What an injustice to her mother. I love your channel !

That book was pretty incredible in the amount of detail it provided - I assume the author had to have interviewed both Chuck and Marlene, since it was so in-depth about their mental states and reconstructed their day-to-day lives. The only frustrating thing about the book was that no photos were provided, and I haven’t really turned up many by searching online. I don’t know if Mike would be able to find enough footage to do this one.
