The Strange Case of Kari Baker

That Chapter

Күн бұрын

Kari Baker and her husband, Matt Baker the preacher, were living happily in Waco, Texas. However, the family would endure tragedy, with it being too much for poor Kari Baker. Or at least that is what Matt would say, and seem to move on pretty quickly. Her family disagreed.

The only reason the mistress gave him up was because she saw the heat he was starting to get from the private investigation, and she knew if they started digging deeper she was going to be linked and held accountable for at least knowing about it! It wouldn’t surprise me if she actually had part in the planning of the murder! No way in hell that you can still have relations with a person who committed such a terrible crime if they aren’t at least okay with the idea!

I agree if she knew ahead of time. I've watched this story on a couple different shows an I believe she was informed after the fact. Not that she's not a disgusting human just for the fact she's banging the married pastor. But I'm not convinced she knew he was gonna kill her. Oh Im sure he said all kinds of hateful things about his wife but don't think she was told I'm gonna kill her ... Thinking she was told after the fact that Ya I did this all for you an our love... Would you run to that PD when they didn’t even suspect the guy? After all he was a minister, & evidently his wife didn’t take his shenanigans seriously when she found out about them. Highly unlikely the PD would wish to walk back on their initial findings, especially since they wouldn’t listen to victim’s family.

@TallulahFoxxx
@TallulahFoxxx Жыл бұрын
@@User31129 firstly the original comment didn’t make any mention of it being a female or male issue 😂 Secondly, although it’s technically true what you’re saying, this wasn’t that case. Vanessa is younger and way more attractive than he is. It’s highly doubtful she was just desperate for sex 🙄😂 In extremely broad and general terms (I have a psych degree), women cheat/look for partners with different reasons in mind than men 🤔 While there are always exceptions - many of them - in general, women tend to look for security, love and positive attention - sex is usually not the main (nor sole) reason. She was recently divorced and probably felt lonely and vulnerable. Many divorcees think “no one will ever want me now I’m this age and I have kids”. He was older, he was a pastor (so he had a good standing in the community), and he was infatuated with her 🤔 That’s very flattering to someone in her position. It’s one of the reasons why we say so many cases of younger women with older men - psychologically speaking, it’s about stability, security and older men tend to worship young, hot women. You feel adored and special while being secure knowing he won’t leave you (because he’s so infatuated) 🤔 It’s not always on a conscious level. As I say, of course there are lots of exceptions to this and it’s a very general analysis, but the point is, in this case, she wasn’t with him purely for sexual reasons 😂🤷‍♀️ Men typically can separate sex and love much more easily than women (again, broadly speaking). While men can just get what they’re looking for and walk away, for women, there’s an emotional element that makes it harder (and for the last time, before anyone jumps down my throat, there are of course exceptions. I’m talking from a psychological perspective that has been studied for a very long time at length lol).

I have consistently found that women who sleep with married men have no empathy, therefore they don’t care about whoever gets hurt or murdered. Of course, right? No empathy means they cannot put themselves in the wife’s position to begin with, which is why they begin the affair in the first place. These people are damaged emotionally and mentally.

Moral of the story: no, you cannot determine if this is "the one" from a mere 3 months of romantic-type interaction and two, you shouldn't try and commit for the long term in your 20's. The likelihood it will work is so extremely low. Wait to settle down till your 40's when all of the immature adolescent young adult values pretty much disappear.

To be fair, women who try to leave violent men often end up becoming targets themselves. It might have been she figured he was just venting and full of shit - talking a big game about something he'd never actually go through with (y'know, like all those people who say they're going to start a band). And then, as he's describing in painful detail how he killed his wife and the police have declared it a suicide, it hits her that he wasn't just a shallow sex-obsessed loser full of impotent rage, but was actually very fucking dangerous. On the other hand, he said he wanted to kill her because she "got fat" and called her "disgusting". She might well have thought "I'm younger and prettier, he's not gonna do anything to me".

Goddamn that was a calm 911 call. Homeboy didn’t even try to fake the waterworks. Also, it was really fucking suspicious that she was found naked - why the hell would that not red flag the cops?! A woman of her faith, seems like a modest lady, would be hyperaware of her appearance after death and since it seems premeditated (with the typed out note) it wasn’t a drunken accident. She would’ve had to have planned to take her clothes off and thought she’d be found that way. Never would’ve happened. Makes sense that it was a romantic thing and then he killed her.

Wouldn't be the first time. Heck, look how many women try to strike up romances with known murderers. In many churches, there are women who become infatuated with church pastors. They're authority figures and they're allegedly speaking the truth of God. The smarter pastors adopt rules so they are never put in a compromising position around women not their wife. Not that Baker would feel that way. I fully believe he initiated this. He didn't need anyone to help him cheat on his wife.

@@HamburgerAmy No, that's about as sadly human as you can get -- and tends to be VASTLY worse without faith or religion. Officially atheist governments murdered tens of millions (think Stalin, Mao or Pol Pot, for starters). I'd take Baptists (in general) over them, any day (as would you, I trust) -- and I'm not even remotely a Christian.

It’s sad and scary to think how many families and friends solve the truth about their loved ones case . If it wasn’t for them a lot of them would continue to be swept under the rug and never be looked at again . I’m thankful she had people that knew this isn’t something. She would do and looked into it . Imagine if people that were killed didn’t have support like that and were said to be dead from an apparent suicide which was actually a murder but never got looked at because there was no one there to say hey no this isn’t like them and bring evidence ! I’m sure there is so many cases where this is what happens and it’s honestly terrifying and also so sad . I’m so glad they stuck to their guns and stuck together and never gave up . They all worked together to find out the truth and that amazes me . I just wish the truth could have been solved by the people we put our trust into for these kinds of things to solve .
