Nearly fell out of my stool when you mentioned Cian McLaughlin. Cian was a good friend of mine, I miss him. Thank you for mentioning his case in this video. His case kind of got overshadowed by the Gabby Petito case because it was the same time and same place, so really, I appreciate it. Great video as always. See ya in the next one.

How long had he lived there? Surely as a ski instructor he knew about the mountain lions, bears, poisonous snake maybe wolves or coyotes and NOT to bushwhack. I think most missing people go off trail, get turned around, and never find their way out. Even the most seasoned hikers have been found 10 ft. off trail or a matter of half a mile from a river. I used to hike in the Ozark Mountains, which runs halfway up the central part of America. We went off trail only once and even tied ribbons yo mark the way back. What a joke! Everything looks different coming back and the only way that could’ve worked is if I’d put ribbons every three feet. We only walked about five minutes off but it took hours to find the trail. So you can imagine how militant I am about staying on trail no matter what cool thing I want to go explore. I think that happened to your friend. Also, it’s too easy to get lost if you’re still hiking after 5:00 pm. The trees block all sunlight and it suddenly goes dark and cold. Definitely one of these happened to Mike. He doesn’t seem like the kind of man who could survive in the mountains for five years. Hopefully a mountain lion got him. 🇺🇸 🇮🇪 ❤️🤟🏻

Man, if he is alive and out there, anybody that isn’t aware of this case could’ve bumped into this guy or casually talked to him and just thought, “What a sweet old man.” Not an ounce of knowledge that he’s a murderer. Gives me the heebie jeebies.

lol this. My mom always acts like every elderly person is just a sweet old man/woman, and I'm over here like mom, you have literally know idea who they could have been in their life. Rapist, murderer, pedo. You have no idea! She's also a bit too friendly with the homeless, I've been attacked before so it really makes me nervous how overly trusting she is at times.

So, he did all this when he was old. Imagine what he was doing as a young boy and as his age increased. This was not something new. He has always been this way inclined. There's a crowd out there; damaged, harmed, and hurt by him. He had a family somewhere once. They know what he's like. A fiend.

Its honestly insane how some people work , there is people who has been living in hell all their lives and wouldn’t hurt a fly and people who ”had/has” it all that can kill people and ruin peoples lives including theirs , i dont know if this is the case here but to think that your loved one can kill your family without any real reason will forever be impossible to understand.

Ya I always shake my head when I see a rapper/gang banger in a music video flexing stacks of cash while sitting on a rolls Royce or Bugatti and then the following week I’ll see his mug shot on the news for a drive by shooting or an ops murder. Like is life that bad that you need to go around shooting people? I’m over here working two jobs and 70 hours a week busting my 🏀’s off and sure I have bad days but most of them are pretty good! Agreed, this guy was obviously a dirt bag but made it to 60 and wasn’t violent and then commits a triple homicide? I’ve always been amazed how some people can just flip and become a monster. Even seeking out her friends and asking about her whereabouts I assume in an effort to create an alibi? I guess the answer is there is no answer and some people can go through an entire life and then just kill their loved one after getting outed in a lie, scary to consider

I suspect he was the beneficiary of a life insurance policy in his wife's name and his plan was for her to have an "accident" before she moved to the new house but then she messed it up when she made the surprise visit and he panicked. I also suspect it's likely he'd already left a second car at the park so he could make an escape as soon as he abandoned his wife's car. He would have known it would take authorities a long time to search the park and that they'd probably eventually just assume he's dead and been eaten by the wild animals.

I have a homegirl who went though a similar situation a few years ago. She had been engaged to a guy who not only was married with children but was actively staying with his wife and kids at the same time he was proposing to my friend. His secret double life went on for about a year; my friend was suspicious due to a few events that took place and one day the guy’s wife contacted her with the truth, saying that she was deceived as well. The guy got mad and first attempted to gaslight her into thinking she was paranoid and hallucinating and then he pulled the “I’ll harm myself if you continue to be angry with me for betraying you and my wife and kids” card which spun things out of control really.

Let’s think for a second about this though: Sociopaths are famously stupid because of the size of their egos. They’re arrogant enough to think they can survive anything- eg, Mike entering the frozen wilds with nothing, not even water, proper clothing or shelter. I’m an avid outdoorsman (well, woman) and I survived a relationship with a psychopath. I personally would gamble a lot of money on him being dead as a doornail, ESPECIALLY in the Grand Tetons. Was camping in the area myself last week. I would guess he suffered frostbite, paranoia and dehydration till his last moments.

There just wasn't any reason to kill any of them. If he got caught out in his lie, as is supposed here, he just as easily could have said addios to all three of them and left. Think about it. They are all standing in that little house screaming at him. His reaction was to get a gun and shut them up. A wiser man would have just said, I can't deal with this right now. Then he leaves, cleans out the bank account before wife can even get her bearings, and leaves town. She can't immediately set the law on him, what law has he broken? By the time she is trying to take him to court for alimony, he could have legally gone anywhere in the world to start over.

With this guy, I find the most likely scenario to be that he had a relationship with (at least) one more woman, probably strictly online, and more recently started up. He seems like he would have a catfish on the back burner for if/when he needed to pull the plug on his double life entirely and start over. He stays in the National Park long enough to grow a beard, drop some weight, and be harder to recognize off a wanted poster. He calls up his lonely, desperate, and submissive middle-aged prey to come and pick him up using a burner phone- and lets her know he’s ready to commit and take their relationship to the next level. He wants to move in with and start his life over with her…

A party I knew nothing about. Turns out he was there with his future fiancé. By the way, their marriage didn't last, she probably got the same sort of surprise one day. My step sister was married with three children when she found out her husband had another house, another woman and a daughter with her. This sort of thing happens more often than we think.

Seems pretty reasonable to assume that his plan was probably to kill his wife, at some point, before they reached the date that they planned on moving into the new house together. But, for whatever reason, he was struggling with the process and kept putting it off until... eventually... it was too late... and she surprised him by showing up at the property completely unexpectedly. So, ultimately, his plan to try and get away with one murder while sailing off into the sunset with his new family instantly and inconveniently morphed into murdering both his wife and his new family and sailing off into the sunset... alone... as a wanted psychopathic fugitive. You know when parents teach their children that one lie will turn into many lies until you're inevitably buried in so many lies that it's impossible to lie your way out? This feels like a prime example of that lesson.

When Covid hit, my husband "had to move in" with his elderly father (who was 94 and honestly needed home help). Actually, the "moving in" part was more my idea, as between work, getting his dad breakfast and then getting him dinner every day, we barely saw each other for any quality time anyway...he would get home at about 9 pm and fall asleep in a chair only to rise again at 6 to drive back to his father's to provide the requisite breakfast sandwich. At some point, this turned into his opportunity to start sleeping with the slut in his garage band. I only found out by accident after it had been going on for about 2 years (of course, since he still denied everything, I have no idea when it really started). I wonder what he has told the slut ?

He could've easily staged another vehicle somewhere in the park that no one knew about and that's what he left in so no one has a clue what to look for. Either way, he's f*ckin' gone and based on his ability to string along 2 separate lives for years without either of them knowing its highly likely he's already setup somewhere else doing his thing. He really does do a good job making these stories palatable and entertaining! Try Mr. Ballen too! He has a somewhat similar vibe. His older missing 411 stuff is awesome!

I have to hand it to Mike his tone has been consistently caring and upbeat for such a long time. The subject matter, I have to say, wears me out and I have to take a break from humanity's inhumanity on the regular. Don't know how he does it, but this is the only true crime channel I have the stomach for, on account of Mike's compassion for the victims and his humor. Sure and ye've kissed the Blarney Stone, Mike. You weave a good cloth from some terrible yarn.

It’s his paycheck friend! He’s going to do what he has to do to earn it, including keeping humorous and upbeat.

@@Stopstaring101 you have half of that, because there are many content creators that make their paycheck without being upbeat and humorous, they can be downright garbage people and get rich. That's why we appreciate Mike the way he is. 🥰

How could he do this? One at a time. C'mon, it's ahow about horrible, egotistical, scheming murderers; no happy endings here😖

Why do you like stories about evil, wicked monsters that kill innocent people without blinking an eye if you feel so bad when people get murdered? You know all Mike's stories are about murder, kidnapping rape and torture.

I think the moral of this story is........IF IT SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, THEN IT PROBABLY IS! I mean, how often does a great bloke come along and offer you and your kid a beautiful home with horses and animals and everything your heart desires? the answer to that is......NEVER! because the chances of that happening are so remote that you would have to be suspicious if it was to happen to you. Maybe i'm just over-cautious, but I can smell a rat a hundred miles away. Anyway, it was a very sad ending and what he did to the three people and all those animals, killing them the way he did, well that is incomprehensible. I think when he realised he couldn't keep up the facade and it was all getting too difficult juggling the two women and the daughter, he took the cowards way out. He so easily could have explained to them that the deal was off and he wanted out. He had nothing to lose by giving them the boot, they could have all just got on with their lives as they had before they met.
