I remember FasterProms K swapping theirs and then to my dismay they said they would turbo it. I left a couple of comments telling them to run it NA for a season to tune the chassis and to see if they really wanted that much power in a shopping cart. My comments didn't get through it seems, they crashed it hard the first couple of times they tried it, after that they parked it and the channel stopped. I think they were getting 650 to the wheels which is insane.

Hey David! I'm sure the builder is aware of it, but Quaife has a dedicated gear drive/transfer case for bike engine builds with a built in reverse. Kotouc Gearboxes also has a page about their version as well. One of those setups would be awesome for milkjug, ground clearance and axle angles could be optimized and no more chain destruction.😉
@isaacson065 ай бұрын
Budgy I looked into this past year when I was debating the dual chain setup and after talking with quaife they told me it wouldn’t hold up to the power I planned on making. I also went as far as talking with FTI about using one of their transfer cases as a diff but the rpm’s in turning would kill the box quickly. The new dual chain setup has been maintenance free at this power level. I set them and haven’t touched them since. Finger crossed it stays that way at the track lol. Thanks for looking out and giving some good info though!!

I wonder if a timing chain from an engine would work better or not? Or one of those wide chains from a Borg warner 4476 transfer case? Also, @7:06 I saw a quick shot of the axle shafts, while the smart car was parked, and the axle shafts look like they already got a lot of squat, not ideally parallel with the street. Is there any issue with that geometry? Cause I assume when on hard acceleration, and squatting even more, those axles are probably hating life. Maybe it's all good tho

I've had thoughts in the past of taking a Dodge Neon and putting a Hemi in it. Suspension would need to be reinforced to handle the higher engine weight, would need a custom hood because engine bay is too small, would have to swap to RWD, again because engine bay too small for FWD or AWD front diff + transmission... and I'd need a lot larger tires just to handle the increased power. Might be easier to just swap in a gas turbine from a small helicopter, those can be sized down to 600 hp at the gearbox output shaft. Couple that to a CVT and I might have a sleeper, or at least a sleeper when the engine's off!
