When I started going to the gym seriously almost 2 years ago, my first proper training shoes after research and based on your recommendation was the Nano X3, Which I was very happy with having a wide foot. Specially that I went true to size, didnt try it before hand and purchased it online and was spot on. I have enjoyed it but it was a bit on the heavy side I guess. Then came the Nano X4, which was good in some areas ( heal slip was improved) but the midsole felt more tight. I used it from April 24 to August 24. Thats when I was travelling and tried Nike Free Metcon 6 by chance. It was just released, and historically, I have always sized up in the past with Nike's shoes in general. The Free Metcon 6 was a nice unexpected surprise, made me ditched the Reebok X4, and use the Free Metcon 6 full time for the past 4 months, couldnt be happier. Regardless of my experience. I always love to come back and be up to date with what you have to say, even if I have no plans to purchase any shoes soon. My main focus is cycling, and I am in the gym for strengthning myself to be a better cyclist.. but I couldnt help that I also enjoying the gym and accidently fell in love lol.. Thank you as always for the amazing work, time and effort you put in Jake.

@levibosshart23407 күн бұрын
Hi Jake, for the TYR L1 squat shoes how much room do you recommended having between your toe and the end of the shoe? And since they are leather how much for they stretch over time? I have one size where I have about .35 inches of space and another where I have .55 inches of space. Can’t decide which one. Thank you!
@levibosshart23407 күн бұрын
Also that is without the insole taken out. And I only use them for hack squat, leg press, and smith squat variations! The smaller size feels pretty snug with my thicker socks but does not hurt my toes
@thatfitfriend5 күн бұрын
Have you tried taking the insole out? It really comes down to performance. If you're having slip with the bigger model, then that's a no-go. Conversely, if you're not having toe jamming in the snugger shoe, then you're gucci. Personal preference. The idea that there's a one-size-fits-all length that some folks push doesn't sit well with me. Your preferences, anatomy, and the shoe's feel when training make the difference!

Is it Okay for deadlift? Isn't it bulky? Cause I hate bulky shoes like nobull impact..
@thatfitfriend9 күн бұрын
I'm deadlifting in them today! For trainers like this and deadlifts, I like to assess their feasibility from a maximal stability standpoint and performance in WODs/general workouts. If I'm pulling singles, doubles, and triples, then I'll ditch my shoes for mechanics sake, but I still test them for deads because not everyone is going to do that and there are many occasions when athletes will pull in their trainers. All that to say, it's not the biggest deal for stuff that isn't crazy specific and programmed for rec lifters/WODs.

Reebok Nano series had identity crisis since Nano 9s. It's beyond me how you can have a series as good as Nanos and fuck it up by gradual stupid changes. My favourite training shoes were Nano 8s (didn't try any before that) and I could never again make a gym shoe feel this good ever since. They were also one of few shoes that fit me perfectly true to size cos I usually half size up for more toe box space. I recently tried Nano X4 and they bad. Too narrow in the mid, too big of a stack height. Makes me feel off balance all the time while Nano 8s were crazy stable and wide while remaining flexibility.
@thatfitfriend9 күн бұрын
It's the shift away from CrossFit. For Reebok, it's about getting more people in shoes which makes sense when you consider the design shift. I loved the 8, too, but it was actually a pretty polarizing model that not everyone loved. This is most big companies, though, as they ebb and flow with the market. I feel your frustration.
