The extra taxes we pay also go towards a lot of free amenities, that you don't get in many other countrie, like good bbq's to use at the beaches, parks. Free water playgrounds in most cities. Free and decent kids playgrounds. Nice clean toilet blocks at parks and beaches. National parks and some free camping area's. Clean infrastructure, cities and towns, with lovely gardens in most places etc. After living in the USA, Singapore and Greece for 12 months each, I've never complained about our taxes here, because at least we can see some of it returned, in the form of good amenities for all.

For as many KZbinrs there are encouraging migration to Australia, there are an equal number of KZbin channels from Australians moving abroad because Australia is no longer affordable!

We are full. Hospitals full. Roads full. And at breaking point. Doctors appointments full. 3 week waits. Rentals full. And prices skyrocketing. Houses impossible to find. Food prices skyrocketing. Fuel prices skyrocketing. Energy prices skyrocketing. All because of mass migration. We are full.

My rent just went up by $600 per month due to low housing supply 😡 more and more aussies are living in tents it’s wrong! Surely the uk folks understand not wanting high levels of immigration

I do agree with you when you say it took you almost 10 years from thinking about Australia to actually moving there. I wanted to move out there when we first visited family in Perth back in 2016. 8 years on we are applying for a visa now. I just hope they want us. We may have to opt for a regional area as Brisbane looks to be out of our reach with my wife’s job and points required for us to even get noticed.

As for taxes here in the uk. I’m sure most of mine here pay for people who don’t want to work.

A massive thing for me was even though we were moving for my career, we are now able to afford for my hubby to stay at home with the kids ! The fact we can live off one wages, still enjoy life and save is incredible! We were both working 45 hour weeks in the Uk and broke at the end of every month! Here i can finish at 3pm, take the kids swimming after school and enjoy family time

There is nowhere in Australia that’s affordable. Good luck trying to find housing we are full and I wouldn’t advise foreigners moving here

Can I ask if you’ll be applying for citizenship now that you’ve been a resident for 4 years? Content around that would be super interesting!

Me Again - His latest vid? Link - kzbin.info/www/bejne/gKHIY36PpZesjM0si=13GZ_dMOIs8kbOe- I suggested he connects with you for a chat. Sounds so depressed now he is back at home . He would be a positive for Oz - a nice funny smart guy with a great job - we could do with more people like him here. Cheers Sam.

I think we've both aged out at this point - 52 and 45. There's the Global Talent thing, but I don't think either of us are as renowned in our individual fields as we need to be to qualify for that one!

Yes same, the age cut off is really outdated. We are 40 and 48, and i dont think i can get anything but a holiday visa or student visa.

True blue told me my decorating qualifications aren't high enough, no only option now is to find a sponsor but looking at wages, I'd actually be taking a pay cut moving to Australia and housing is much more, so sadly our journey if you can call it that is over, gutted to be honest, but everything happens for a reason I guess

Try the down under centre they specialise in trades and you can convert your experience into the qualification you need and you might still get in

Sorry Ross now is not the time to push emmigration from anywhere our infrastructure has been stretched to breaking point by over immigration since the shut down ended.. Immigration needs to be cut back until supply can catch up with the demand. The government has begun doing things like reducing the number of tempoaray visas being issued because they see the anger that is building in the community and they dont want to risk getting thrown out of office at the next election. I would say that people who apply through channels such as the skilled shortage visas will still be welcomed but be warned they will struggle with finding suitable housing and also be impacted by rising living costs the same as every other Australian.
