Again, BIG congratulations Lee! We all know what getting another Porsche sports car means to you and every other P-connoisseur. The 40th anniversary 911 is a hall mark in Porsche history as important as any other limited production run Porsche. We are all custodians of these great cars, merely looking after them until the next owner takes on the challenge. Of course you’ll keep it stock. No need to do anything to it. It’s just great as it is and I’m now on the lookout for one myself😂

I think you would be fine to add a PCM plus to it. I don’t think you are taking away from the originality of the car with that upgrade. Other than that enjoy!!!

Was just about to say the same thing; it’s the one mod I think even the most fastidious car collector would be able to swallow (as long as you keep the original unit that came with the car)

@@tonyharper5604Agree. I’m having PCCM+ installed in my 40th AE 996 along with new Michelins. I’m toying with retrofitting PSE while it’s still at the workshop that sold it to me. It’s not a cheap modification but it was done on some 40th AE cars (apparently it wasn’t a factory option but dealer fit only using genuine parts).

@@GT380man it is still on my list to have PCCM+ too! I had PSE on my 996 but when it rotted I went with Top Gear Headers and Milltek Cup Sport Exhaust, which is a nice sound combo but not switchable. Good luck with it all. Center Gravity CGGT suspension is my biggest outlay to date and that has been transformative

As always a great video Lee, I do agree with your philosophy of keeping the car as close to stock as possible. Certain models, to me anything that's numbered, should be "preserved" so to speak while still being enjoyed. I have read up a bit on these cars and they are quite a notch up from the standard fare 911 C2 of the 996 generation as you know, great purchase and happy motoring to you and yours!

I share your views on preservation, ironically it was one of the biggest reasons why I sold my 40 Jahre. I feel much freer with my Carrera to do what I want and unfortunately, I wasn't able to keep both. Enjoy your car, they are spectacular.

Keeping it original. I couldn't agree more! Yes, mods are fun and can be an "upgrade". However, in my opinion, all mods are fads. They may be considered an upgrade today, but as things age, the original will always be the more desired.

If you don’t have the PSE on it (Porsche Sport Exhaust), try and find one, they’ve become very expensive… I also added a short-shifter… and THAT’S it… drive the hell out of it, I wish I kept mine

Those seats should have been standard for the 996. My 996.1 are the "skinny" stock seats, but the shoulder flares are what should be standard for a 911 meant to be driven harder than a family sedan.

Its a stunning car , I’d keep It totally standard too , apart from updating the head unit , i think being able to stream your music through the car is pretty much essential these days . I’m really interested to hear your comments on the x51 power pack engine , it was standard in these but it was a VERY expensive option on the ‘normal’ 996s . I’d like to know your opinions on it once you have had the car a while Enjoy 👍🏻

I like that this car has been driven some 50k miles, and I hope you continue to log the miles! But what I don't get is how it has escaped getting any paint chips and imperfections. It just looks as though it is brand new. What say you about that, Lee?

The wheel colour change is by far the best thing you can do. The chrome finish looks wrong in my opinion. Even if you had to buy a second set and store the originals, that would be my first job if I bought one. I presume they had been changed by a previous owner?
