I think john became so well known in Australia that many didn’t appreciate his great talent. Now he has a health battle and may never sing again. I believe that he is one of the best performers ever, he has such a way of engaging with his audience and he is just so darn talented. I hope he recovers and I will always be grateful that he shared his incredible talent with us and was still able to keep it real and not be up himself.

Ha glad that request made it through. I grew up with John being omnipresent on radio, to the point where I admit I basically took him for granted, or didn't really pay too much attention to him. It wasn't really until a few years ago that I spontaneously had the urge to see what he was like singing with the Little River Band - and I landed on this video and was absolutely blown away by the stage presence and performance. After that I went down the rabbit of hole of all the live performances I could find for him on KZbin (and others I never had the chance to see live). Suffice it to say I realised i'd missed out on a LOT.

@usmadgirl30743 жыл бұрын
OK, don't get upset! You know that John is my favorite singer of all time...period & he was great with Little River Band (one of my favorite bands - think I must be part Aussie) BUT I didn't like him as much with LRB as I did their original lead singer, Glenn Sharrock BECAUSE John's voice is SO powerful, he overpowered Beeb Birtles & Graeham Goble & their normal smooth 3 part harmonies. Glenn Sharrock blended perfectly with Beeb & Graeham. John needs to be a solo artist like he became again when he left LRB & just do occasional duets with whomever he chooses like Jimmy Barnes. So I'm not putting down the original LRB singers & I'm not putting down John, they're the best at what they do in their rightful places!😘 Here's why: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iqaWiZ6af6tqeM0

It has been a joy watching you discover and fall in love with our "Voice" here in Australia. Words cannot express the depth of feeling we hold for this once in a universe talent, that's right - universe. A few special singers may have an element or two at the same level as John, but no one has every dimension of their art operating at the level this guy does. Tone, from crystalline to whiskey-soaked; timing, from comedic to dramatic; ANY genre, any key, any audience - he commands them all. As a technical singer, he is unsurpassed, and vocal analysts will still be trying to understand the mechanics of how he does what he does many years from now. But anyone who has seen him live will attest his performance presence is every bit equal to his technical brilliance. You cannot take your eyes off him, from the front row to the back of the stadium - if you look around at a Farnham concert, it is almost eerie to see how all eyes remain transfixed on him the entire time. He has worked incredibly hard at his craft, but the sheer mercurial beauty he is able to produce hints that, at times, even John may not know exactly the detail of what he does. He is evidence of powers greater than us in the universe - a conduit that allows us a glimpse of true awe and beauty.

"We want John Back" - John stepped into LRB when Glenn Shorrock left. Glenn came back when John went solo after they all decided he was more eclectic than LRB's one style. (We must wait for his Biopic as John won't allow one until after he dies)

LRB went way back before John joined as front man and was big in the 70s. So cool you are going back. There are a lot of skips like me that will reminisce on this

Hi. I am Australian also. A great song to play is John Farnham singing ANGEL live. Love your show. Love Michelle.

Not the singer I know and remember, but hell, still a fantastic performance.

Yeah so glad you did this one, I only found it a year ago maybe, we know John is so diverse and can sing the phone book, but I'd never heard a jazzy, soul side until I saw this, and those harmonies, so good!!! Thanks for this one.
