Thank you so much for sharing! I have been to numerous doctors and chiropractors. They only inflicted more pain. This is super helpful!

When I had frozen shoulder, I couldn't lift my arm. Would not have been able to do this.

Same here. I couldn't have done this exercise either. I remember the nurses trying to change my hospital gown and screaming in agony.

I completely understand, Judy. And starting lower with the arms can be helpful and necessary in some cases. But, the real "magic" of this movement comes from leaning in and pressing into the wall. Adding multiple points of contact like this increases stability, activates the intrinsic shoulder stabilizers and most importantly - increases a person's sense of safety. It is a very different experience than lifting your arm.

I know exactly what you mean. Having another person moving you arm when you have frozen shoulder can be extremely painful (it's also scary because you don't know how they are going to move you). This reduces a person's sense of safety and causes the shoulder and arm to tighten up even more. This is why exercises like the one in video work so well, because they put the individual in the "driver's seat".

Where can I find the research evidence that this is an effective treatment for frozen shoulder?
@painfixprotocol2 күн бұрын
I not aware of a published study that focused specifically on this exercise. This is coming directly from my clinical experience.

I have rolled a towel as tight as I could, but it still keeps coming undone when I try to push it up the wall. Could I use a rolling pin or something else? Any suggestions? Alos, I assume it's ok to star below eye level if I can't get my arms that high. Thanks vey much for putting outthis information

It's definitely ok to start below eye level. Sometimes I have people use a small pillow instead of a rolled towel.
