The 1 HOUR COMIC Challenge !! (I Challenge You!)

I created this 1 Hour Comic Challenge for myself and I'd love to see You to try it as well!
I love making comics and I've made this 8-page mini comic out of one piece of computer paper before but I've never tried to do it in one hour. Check out the video to see if I succeeded or failed.
This is the 1 Hour Comic Challenge created by yours truly. This is a challenged I developed using a foldy comic/zine (which I did not invent) which is created with one page of 8.5 x 11 or A4 computer paper which folded correctly creates a fun little 8 page comic!
RULES
1. Everything must be created within the space of 1 hour. (Idea, Script, Pencils, Inks)
2. Feel free to skip any steps as long as you come out with a finished Inked comic that can be copied and printed before the hour is up.
3. Don't feel bad if you don't make it (I didn't make it on my first try but I did finish a fun comic quicker than I would have otherwise!)
4. (Optional) Share how you did somewhere online via video, blog, social media post or however you like.
5. Let me know so I can share it as well and if you make a KZbin video I will be happy to add you to the official 1 Hour Comic Challenge playlist!

As well as this comic challenge I've also done the 100 days of making Comics challenge and i'm currently doing my second round of the 365 Days of Making Comics challenge. I think any making comics challenge is a great exercise to help learn new things and get better at creating comics! There's also the 24 hour Comic Day Challenge which I don't know that I'll ever try just because I never want to stay awake for that long LOL but many have and they've got great results! Another one i'd like to try is the 5 hour comic challenge. Maybe I'll try that one next!

Very cool! It's like a hyper version of the 24-hour comic. 24 hours / 24 pages... 1 hour / 1 full page of art... Very similar, and maybe even a bit more difficult too!

Yeah it was crazier than I thought it would be. I just saw somebody today do the 24 hour art challenge but they actually took seven of those hours out to sleep LOL and still completed the comic if I can do that I may one day do the 24 hour comic challenge well 😬😎

i did a 20 minute comic challenge , i should clarify, is that i scripted it out and drew a rough draft in 20 minutes. - it was for a competition where you had make something in 20 minutes - do you have any formal rules? like could you start with a script or concept? does it have to be an 8 page comic? could it be a 1 page comic strip?

wow 20 minutes that's awesome!No formal rules exactly. At least not yet. But whatever kind of comic you can make in an hour I think is probably a pretty amazing feet! Even if you started off with a concept or something so I'd love to see you try your hand at it in whatever way makes sense for sure!

I am in a similar situation. I've been drawing really seriously since 2014 and have a stack of individual drawings and a stack of concepts and stories. But somehow I cannot transform the two stacks into a harmonious unit. That would be a comic, or more, as many as I can create. I'm also around forty. But one of my goals is to draw comics. So I can feel with you.

That looks insanely difficult. You put in a great effort and probably learned a lot from this experience. Next time, if you were to try this again, just go straight to inking. It would be rough, but I think it's possible.

I dig it. 3 hours is a good amount of time. I think anything drawn in one hour would have to be straight ink, no pencils, and would probably be so messy it'd be unreadable. Decent lettering itself is a huge time drain

Yes I think the biggest change I will do next time is skip the pencil step. And probably make the prep time quicker and possibly eliminate it all together. Thanks for watching :)

Me, too - making those creative choices is SO HARD when you are an idealistic idea person! I have so many shiny ideas it's not funny - maybe crazy? But at my "age" I really want to begin making comics/graphic novels...and I can NOT draw, LOL. I've downloaded ComicLife3 - so we'll see!!

I'd say give it a go maybe once every three months. Maybe even add something like a hat filled with prompts for things like a character, mood/setting and a line of dialogue. I think ill give it a go myself

@@MarshMakesComics Thank you. The process was mainly with a pen for the dialogue and mainly used a sharpie marker for mostly drawing the characters. The folding process went pretty backward but still learning.
