Thank you for this. I am an alcoholic parent. My detox date is booked for 9 days from now. With the GP, counsellor, and psychologists help, I can do this. I must do this. Grateful for any prayers and luck anyone can wish me and my children. I quit meth 7 years ago, I can quit this too. Thank you again. Xx

You are going to ace your recovery. Just keep the prize of a better life in mind.I don't have good memories of growing up when too much drinking was going on in the house.

You’ve got this. Try to give yourself grace and work with those who can help you to release the guilt and shame you keep hold of. Alcohol does not define you, it’s an illness just like any other. If it’s too difficult to forgive yourself then imagine you’re advising a friend or a loved one. What would you say to that person? How would you help that person through their recovery? Take each day at a time and on the bad days, remember it’s just a wobble and not a step back. Wishing you all the best.

Thank you for this. I am not a child of an alcoholic parent, but the spouse of one and my children are those children - I am eternally grateful for the support that my parents gave. When he was sober, he was a wonderful man and father. May he have found his peace

Thanks for making this, I wouldn't tell anyone when I was a child for fear of being taken away. The reality of alcohol abuse is heartbreaking and its not going away. More support for children ❤

Thank you so much for sharing that. You are definitely not alone in having lived in that fear! There is still so far to go to get these kids the help the need and deserve! We're still in the dark ages in many ways on this subject, but we're lucky to have John as a leading light!

Thank you John I grew up wi an alcoholic father. Twas THE family secret . We NEVER spoke of it. It was awful. I understand your pain. Forgive mum, forgive dad. They had pain also. But for a child it’s horrible. Be good to yourself Let their lives be an example to you of what NOT to do in life. I am 73…. I know now that pain and shame never goes away.

Great documentary john.So many good people trying to help and change young people's futures with not enough resources or funding. The government should be ashamed of themselves. I think half of milton of campsie had a drink problem when i was growing up there.i remember getting the bus to work at 7 in the morning for my 1st job and all the older ones i knew from the craigfoot would be drinking their cans going to work. Then they would go to the pub for a few pints on the way home. All the times i spent with you i never realised you had a problem but i knew your older relatives liked a drink(Alex's dad, sailor, shug ...) Good to see you looking well and turned your life around. sorry i missed you when you were up in Scotland.Keep up the good work John All the best

You are bang on! Any apparent savings on services for these kids is a false economy anyway. Avoiding a penny on support for kids like this today will lead to them ending up as pounds later in health, welfare, and justice.

My mum was a chronic alcoholic. Me and my sister were taken off her when I was five and put into care. She could not give up the drink even to win her children back. I also went through feelings of guilt and shame, missing her but also not wanting to live with her. So difficult to process when so young. I became so shy and introverted because of her drinking. I could ramble on but no point as we all have our pains to carry now moving on through life. The Government wont ban alcohol or dirty drugs they put on the streets as it also breaks up families and creates problems in adult hood for these children which makes us (society) easier to control because we feel lost. Its all part of Social Engineering. Great video though. We need more awareness of how alcohol affects children. Thanks for sharing this with us ❤

@@NacoaUK I have worked for drug and alcohol services for 18 years and the ignorance that a lot of workers , managers and commissioners have around the affects alcoholism has on children is quite staggering.. it’s like it’s too painful for them to acknowledge this rampant abuse we have in our society… well i acknowledge it ❤️❤️
