i like him but of course every character punches faster than him, and his uppercut range is so bad, so you have to really just block and then counter and then do some serious combos, i also figured that you should not learn combos from the internet but instead go into practice and do it that way, i learned a 48% combo

Hey f0xy, I've been struggling a lot with people staggering, especially johnny cage/liu kang. Do you think you could make a video/comment on how to play around that/other playstyles?

For me, I just commit. If I think someone is going to stagger, I just start swinging with 100% confidence and don’t hold back lol gotta make the hard read. I think some players have the reaction speed to react to staggers, but I usually don’t have that so that’s just what I do. It’d be interesting to see what Foxy thanks about this. But yeah man, if a Johnny keeps staggering that mid or some other string, assume he’ll do it next time it’s his turn and make him eat 30%. If he’s smart, he’ll start changing it up after that 😂

Some scenarios the risk/reward is in your favor. Perhaps they get 20% if they do whole string but if you press confidently you might get 40%. (In Mk11 liu kang 12 stagger you should always press because most he would get if you guess wrong is the kick of 123) Also most people don’t really change their offense much so read what moves they stagger in first round and they will repeat the strategy in 2nd round. Also check the frame data, some staggers from johnny or liu as you mentioned are indeed plusframes that you might have to respect. You can also armor out of pressure after those plusframes or whenever you think they might stagger

The game gives unblockable protection, you have to deliberately delay both hits so it hits overhead/low or low/overhead a bit apart. If you do it on the same frame, either block (standing or crouching) will block both.

Okay so basically I really have a few questions that could easily give you at least a few episodes of guides/content. I've been playing league of legends professionally for about 6 years but I dropped it completely cause I wasn't enjoying it anymore, I got hooked up in MK X and 11 and now in MK1 and something really confuses me about framedata specificly and reads generally. General example, your enemy is knocked on the ground and they have multiple options, armor wakeup, delay wakeup, normal wakeup, random attack or straight up just sit and block cause they're being pressured, could you make an in deph stuff about managing grounded opponents? And the framedata thing, is it really accurate? I mean, mathematically speaking yes, it is but if you put into practice, how can someone punish on that exact -7 with their 6 frame attack, how do they manage to be spot on with the punish.

In short, a reversal special that’s 7f can punish a -7, but if you’re using a normal attack it has to be 1f faster because it can’t come out within the reversal window, you’d need a 6f attack to punish -7. Dealing w/ people on wakeup is mostly just looking for delay/no delay & wakeup attack. Their options expand when you give them respect though, that’s how people get away with all sorts of random shit like jumps. That’s why an assist like Lao Buzzsaw hat is good, it’ll do the work for you

@@AmiriHipHop100% right. And also if you’re too early, your second button will come out instead of your first, so you’ll just punish with one hit. I tend to have that issue more than being late. Timing does have to be precise in those situations.

Keep the opponent guessing instead of guessing what they will do on walk up. And go for short strings that have different timings and ranges. And use your kameos for safety. Mix up your timing

I'll add this: you don't have to put out your punish in the exact first frame. while you are in block recovery, you can press let's say 1 and it will come out as soon as you recover. that question also screwed my mind when I first started with fighting games.

After his nerfs, How would you play Subzero effectively? Definitely can’t be as Yolo as he was in MK11, altho if he opens you up, he can get some decent damage. Seems like he’d benefit from a low hitting kameo that can double as mix and/or safety for his B2 (like Lao hat). Or something like Sektor/Kane that can keep opponent under pressure.

Isn't it all just preference I only do it for saucy morph combos but I much more skilled player would probably use it in a beneficial way like for instance if you do a morph General Shao combo and end it in no Axe form so you have better pressure on there wake up or maybe you wanna spend a bar to get insane damage if you know the Characters bnbs well especially a character with already crazy damage you do the same exact combo you get even more damage there's many reasons I see it being beneficial I think most shang players just want to stick in there comfort zone it's understandable

Depends if the kameo I’m running has cheap shit with their character, or if their character is worth using while damage buffed Kenshi Sento is as dirty as it gets, so if you catch a freeze it’s worth it. Liu Kang w/ Lao kameo is worth it because you get launching throws damage buffed

What frame advantage do you need on oki for Lao hat jump in setup? Also when would you go for a mid rather than go for a back dash mid when trading pokes. Madar fakar

When trading pokes quick mids can check people who mash d1 on their lower minus frame strings, if you're opponent has slower mids however u can go for d1 on you're minus strings for lower risk. You're opponent will start to either block you're d1 and punish with d1 or they'll d1 first since theirs will come out faster, to beat both options u can backdash mid and get a full combo if they tried to d1. The same theory can be applied with lao's low hat bc ur plus enough to d1 after the hat hits so if you're opponent respects it then u can start going for the mid string, however the mid will get beat if they try to d1 again so u can either start conditioning with d1 again or go for backdash mid which if done correctly will catch their d1 for a full combo. This isn't foolproof, if you're going against a smart player they'll catch on and start using either d4 to catch the backdash or wait for you to backdash whiff a normal and whiff punish you.

Honestly scorpion has no opening or 50/50 that can start something unless you use frost, but then you have no combos. And this scorpion you can see hes using cyrax and his kunai spin to deal tick damage.

I dont know if that's just me but i have had a lot of issues with properly punishing in this game same for jailing. I dont know if the hit and blockstun have increased but for example when i try to punish an unsafe string with a 1,2 more often than not ill hit my oppenent with the 2 and punish window already closed. Do you have on tips? Because to me it seems these stuns vary from string to string and i dont know the timing for every single one

Mk11 had very lenient timings whereas mk1 went back to execution heavy gameplay. Gotta be patient on a punish and don’t press buttons while your still in block stun

I’ve had the same problem. Block stun is insane in some cases. Like flawless blocking reptile’s overhead special move where he switches sides. You have to wait to punish. But if you up-block a jump in, you have to start pressing buttons immediately or you’ll miss the punish. We just have to lab the different types of block stun timings I guess. Jailing is similar too. You can’t press too early after connecting a poke. The recovery is still active after hit.

Most the MK Kommunity knows for a FACT that Avirk is the #1 Scorpion player. This dude right here is mid. the chip damage pressure is good but overly repetitive which many will catch on and adapt. I've watched this play style of his get exposed by numerous people during R1ps Arena tournament. He's legit good but Avirk is next ok level in terms of utilizing Scorpions combos, maximized DMG potential>"chip to win"
