10 000 hours, generally, will get you good at doing something, so much so that you can do that as a professional. But it's won't make you "world class". If you want to be the best at what you do you have to be actively constantly pursuing to challenge yourself in what you do, that and the 10 000 hours, 20 thousand, or 30 thousand, depending on the complexity of what you do. And now with the internet, being "really good" means much more than it meant 20 years ago. Now you are competing with the entire world and not merely with your locals.
