Soon after I got my Amiga 1200, I saved up for a 20-meg hard drive. 20 MEG. When I installed LeChuck's Revenge, I had to uninstall every other game I had on there to get it to fit.

@@caseofquartz7366 Oh hey man! Sheesh, no wonder so many people were switching to PCs around this time. Yeah, the drives were expensive. And actually by the time I got my hands on that 20 meg drive, my PC-owning friends had drives up in the hundreds of megs, I think. But the Amiga drives were always so overpriced. Even though it was nice to finally have an IDE controller on the 1200, it still took the more expensive 2.5" drives.

@@pacbilly They were overpriced, even additional floppy wasn't as common. I remember that time, VGA/Soundblaster PCs started to get superior ports of games and I was jealous since I was too poor to get one. One time, I got invited by a school friend and I got to play Wolfenstein 3D on his brand new 486DX2. Just in few minutes in the game, it dawned to me that this is it, PC is the future.

Operation Stealth was a masterclass of how point and click adventures should be made. Delphine was such an incredible game studio. I'd vote Flashback as the most iconic of them all, though. So many people playing on other platforms were so jealous when listened how the beretta sounded on the amiga. I would know, I was one of them :)

I never really took much notice of who published what bitd, I was much more interested in the devs so I was pleasantly suprised to see so many great Amiga games were published by US Gold which generally has a bad rep. Color me surprised, as I had no idea US Gold had any good games , or at least games I didn't know they had published in other regions. A few of these games I knew from NA releases, while a few others I didn't know about at all but they look rather good. Thanks for the gaming education, as it's always a good thing to learn about some hidden gems.

I always found it strange that US Gold published so many games from so many different companies. Here in the U.S. most companies published their own games. EA games were published by EA. Epyx games were published by Epyx. Lucasarts games were published by Lucasarts, and so on. Yes, sometimes a company bought the rights to a UK or European game, but then they usually published it under a budget label. And even then it was an Accolade budget label, or an Epyx budget label. I can't really think of a company that existed just to publish other companies' games.

I know it's probably controversial opinion but I really didn't like the Monkey Island games. In fact, I couldn't get into any of the point and click style of adventure gaming. I think the soundtracks for all the Amiga games I had or saw always hit the mark but (imho) never matched by gameplay. Can anyone remember that motebike racing game's name? The bikes were almost Tron-like but it was racing on a circuit and the mouse control mean you either didn't lean in enough or you ran out of desk space trying to steer 😀

Unpopular opinion: Line of Fire was an excellent conversion and should be on this list, specially considering the original arcade it was based on was a spectacular display of super scaling tech. It's a way better conversion than Operation Wolf on the Amiga for sure, and although the decision to use a digitalized sample of the original arcade gun unit's recoil mechanism as the sound of your weapon firing might come up as odd to many, I think it actually was a clever and creative decision in an attempt to truly capture the feeling of playing the original thing in spite of the inherent limitations. And the soundtrack is awesome.

@@oldstylegaming No, it wasn't. Opinions aren't objective facts, sorry.
