They did NOT ruin Lexa’s character, it was an evolution, can’t you see that she is fucking in love with Clarke? She’s afraid she’s going to fuck up again, she wants Clarke to trust her, that’s why she is being so benevolent with Skaikru, it also makes sense to break the cycle of bloodshed so it isn’t completely odd, she is a revolutionary, the first to unite the 12th clans, she’s smart so it is not so strange that she wants to change some of the savage costumes of her people. It’s not bad writing, she’s for once listening to her heart instead of her head, it makes sense because of what she’s been through, it is coeherent with the story, stop calling it bad writing just because it is unexpected and you don’t like it.

I disagree with a few points of yours (respectfully). While Clarke, yes, did kill everyone in Mount weather, no one else would have. No one else is willing to make the hard decisions she does. They didn’t have the numbers to fight the mountain men, and her people were being tortured and would have died. The mountain men would have left once they had the cure, killed any of their own people who opposed them (as they did while shit was going down), possibly killed of Arcadia and taken their weaponry, and gotten away with torturing and killing countless people for their selfish gain. And that’s IF they didn’t turn on the grounders once they had high powered weaponry, since they clearly lack the honor to keep to a deal. They promised Sky Crew safety and then started harvesting them. No one else was willing to make the decision to pull the switch, and Clarke saved more lives than she took. It’s not black and white, but nothing is. It was a sacrifice but a meaningful one. As for her influence over Lexa, yes, Clarke has a large influence over her. To an extent I agree, but Lexa has United thirteen clans that were at war, and is hoping to unite Arcadia like she did the others, and cares about many of the people in there.

Clarke and Lexa both learn so much from each other and to be honest it's one of the more interesting aspects of the politics in these few seasons to me. And you're right I don't even think that Bellamy, had he been alone in that moment, would've pulled the lever

Allowed her heart to control her head? It's the opposite. After losing Costia and buying into love being weakness, she stopped listening to her heart. She was all head. We see that in Season 2 when she chooses to leave Clarke for dead in spite of the love she felt. Head > Heart. The decision to forgive the massacre was very out of sync with who she was. That's not to say it couldn't have worked, it could, but it requires further development of the character, which they didn't do. It was an very abrupt and unexplained change in persona and rationale.
@aleinadzap6040
@aleinadzap6040 5 жыл бұрын
For Lexa, love is weakness, and right now, she's in love with a woman who wanted to kill her only a few days ago. So she's doing all these things to please Clarke in an effort to regain her love. And it's true that Lexa did not allow her heart to rule her head last season, but then Clarke got through her defenses (denial mostly) and she has changed her behavior accordingly.

@elfan7348
@elfan7348 5 жыл бұрын
The writers/showrunner absolutely meant to write it this way; and there's one dead give away: They didn't show the massacre! The knew that showing him actively participate in the massacre would make him irredeemable. So they deliberately didn't show it and skipped it in order to try and separate him from it. The argument that he only had bad experiences don't count either. He befriended Lincoln, he knew about them from Octavia's experiences with them, he worked with Indra, and the entire group of Grounders that were in the camp to work with them. After Mount Weather the Grounders continued to work out trade agreements and land proposals with Lexa and the coalition between seasons 2 and 3. Bellamy was in the throne room when EVERYONE found out that only the ice queen was responsible, he KNEW it wasn't Lexa. Plus he was in the room when Lexa announced that she would send a peace keeping force. He got Pike elected because he wanted to kill the Grounders. He did it out of anger and because he wanted to kill them out of revenge. That's the difference between this and the things that Clarke, Lexa, and some of the other characters have done. Lexa's decision also doesn't make sense. I agree with that. We know that Lexa has a history of making peace. Kane says in season 2 that she's a visionary, and it's because of the years she took to unite the clans. She even made peace with Azgeda after they tortured and murdered Costia. But the way she approaches Skaikru after this is nonsense. There's a difference in working towards peace and letting this happen. Don't annihilate Skaikru, fine Lexa might do that, but there's no way she won't kill every single person that participated in the massacre. The show acts like there are no good guys and it's realistic and dark; but then they just let this go unanswered with no consequences for the characters. The main skaikru characters have plot armor like nobody else's.

Hakeldama, or Akeldama, is the field that Judas Iscariot purchased with the 30 shekels of silver he got for betraying Jesus. It also the place where he hung himself and then eventually fell to the ground with his innards spilling all over the field, thus giving the place the name Hakeldama. Which is Aramaic for Field of Blood.

Lexa’s decision isn’t totally stupid. The basic idea of ending the cycle of violence isn’t a bad one. However, I feel like Lexa wouldn’t be that swayed. She liked Clarke but she never let her control her. This kinda action from Skarikru requires a response.

This is why I hate the romance between them in this season. Season 2 Lexa had feelings for Clarke but didn't allow herself to influenced. She was firm in her convictions; she put her needs and the needs of her subjects above Clarke. In Season 3, the opposite happens. She puts Clarke above all else. So she DOES allow herself to be controlled by Clarke (because she wants Clarke to reciprocate). It's such a badly developed and abrupt change in character and I hate it.

Lexa as a commander has always been the most flexible, its why she has been the only one so far that has 13/12 clans on her side. This show is all about points of view and to me Bellamy wasn't crazy or wrong-Why should Bellamy/Pike trust anything the Grounders say- 1-When they first landed the Grounders tried to kill Jasper with no provocation 2-When they went for peace talks the Grounders brought archers when they said no weapons 3-Lexa allowed TonDC to be bombed killing some Arkers 4-Lexa betrayed them at Mount Weather 5-while1-4 happened the Ice Nation killed children unprovoked 6-While under the guise of peace the Ice Nation blew up Mount Weather killing 30+ people --- Bellamy had no reason to believe Lexa was telling the truth when she said it wasn't her. She lied and betrayed them before. How could they be sure this just wasn't another trap. We know Bellamy was wrong but Bellamy didn't have that information. Ken Boggs *le sigh* 1- The grounders didn’t spear jasper “with no provocation”. The grounders have been watching them since the moment the dropship landed(ain’t no way in hell any of them didn’t notice a ball of fire falling from the sky). They watched the 100 for a while, saw that they were just a bunch of reckless kids & whatnot so far so good but the fact that they’re all eerily similar to the mountain men puts them on edge(ppl who have been terrorizing them for almost a century). They still didn’t do anything to them tho to their efforts, that’s when shit changes when jasper crosses the river moving past the border which is close to the Mt’s territory in general and without apprehension; so they were on guard. Jasper then yelling “Mount Weather” with the sign like he’s happy to be there immediately solidified the grounders suspicion that being strange new ppl=enemy. Clarke mentioned how she thought it was bc they crossed the border, he dismisses it apparently 2- The grounders brought archers to the peace talk bc they’re in their own territory wary of new strangers when they’ve already had enough to deal with in their time(The Mountain Men, Reapers) they’re not going to take any chances. Especially not since the Skaikru recently just burned what was an entire village. Even still, they didn’t shoot or anything, they had no reason to. Until Jasper fires the first shot causing chaos. Bellamy- the 23 year old- knows most of this. 3- I don’t even kno what’s up with Bellamy if he was actually concerned about Tondc bc _some_ Arkers died. For fuck’s sake that was a whole _grounder village_ meaning the amount of casualties of the ark ppl could not compare to those of Lexa’s own people. She did it bc of him anyways, at the time if he died they would all too. I can’t remember if he ever put those two together. 4- Lexa betrayed _40 something ppl_ of people who were her enemy just 2 weeks ago to save the people she grew up with and swore she would protect. Saving _hundreds_ over _forty something_ is not a hard decision to make. Especially not when they were being held at gun point if she didn’t take the deal. Bellamy-being the smart “soldier” he is should’ve at least thought abt why exactly she made the decision in the first place if they literally were marching to war, fighting said war, only to leave midway. 5. We don’t know exactly what happened with Ice nation and Farm station completely, what we do know tho from Pike is that farm station had a hand in killing some innocents too if his words “we gave more than what we got” was anything to go by. But yeah what ice nation did was bad. We don’t know the full details bc the..show decided..to not show flashbacks or include details..? Idk man 6. Ice nation blew up the mountain even tho it was obvious Emerson did it bc only a mountain man would know how to self destruct the entire thing. He chose to focus on the one grounder nation literally every other grounder detests instead of the one man who made it possible in the first place. Yes he _did_ have a reason to believe it wasn’t her. She was *literally* in the process of making the skaikru officially her people, why the hell would she at the same time blow up the mountain just to kill a couple dozen? Bellamy-the 23 year old- didn’t think of this. Also the grounders have been helping them out and trading with them during the 3 months I suppose bc none of them starved to death. I guess that’s another reason. She wouldn’t betray them this time bc they would be _her_ people officially. And heda’s duty is to _her people_ . You can believe them if they’re telling the truth if the one side that’s been “attacking them” had legitimate reasons to. They burned down a whole village and there was no reprieve for that even tho there should’ve been, one of theirs massacred half a village and they didn’t even get a proper reprieve for that. For every one skaikru death that happened there were 50 for the grounders. He couldn’t think abt that either.

So two grounders betrayed them, and he decided to exterminate three hundred of them? Just because you don't trust someone doesn't mean your justified in becoming a racist mass murder. And the people of the ark have been just as treacherous as the grounders, or any other faction in this show. The point is you shouldn't trust anyone unless you either have leverage that will make betraying you a bad decision, or unless you have a close and longstanding relationship with someone, and even then plenty of people have betrayed there closest friends on this show. But there's a big difference between not trusting someone and starting a war of aggression.

Not to trust ANY grounders anymore? What if we just extend that and say "My friend was killed by a human, and another human lied to me, so now I hate all humans and want to kill them". Why just place people into a bracket, a category defined by a label, and then place blame and hate on EVERY person within that group, even those you've never met and don't know? How can you hate and wish harm on people you've never even met and know nothing about? That's like wanting to kill all black people because someone who hurt you just happened to be black, or wanting to kill all Europeans because some guy from Germany hurt you. You're encompassing a wide range of individuals and placing blame on those who did nothing. People need to stop segregating and placing each other into groups to begin with. Forget about labels and definining words, and think of all people as people. No more "your people" or "my people", just people. The us/them mentality needs to go. Where does it end? Only with war, death, and pain. It's time people change and stop harming others, because there are no others, people killing people, humans are killing themselves.

Lexa has never fully been on board with the "Blood Must Have Blood" mentality. The 100 impressed me because it was a show that was willing to do things that most teen dramas won’t, like make their protagonists make decisions that we never thought they would make. IMO Raven is the X factor of the show, she brings so much to the character and her story gets more interesting. For season 1&2 it’s Clarke and Bellamy stealing the show. For 3&4 it’s Raven. Pike blamed the explosion on bellamy and made him feel like it was all his fault, even though it wasn’t. Pike manipulated bellamy into doing his bidding because he knew he needed him and bellamy was so emotionally driven in this season that everything pike said, made sense. Bellamy is a character who is driven by his heart, Clarke is driven by her brain, without clarke, bellamy is different and the show runner confirmed this. You may not agree with what bellamy did this season, and neither do I, but it’s easier to understand why he did this if you have empathy and look at it from his point of view. To him, the grounders have only ever killed and betrayed his people, he acted out of emotional grief and later on he realizes that. Just think about that before completely hating him or changing your mind about him. It’s good to have an open mind. And don’t forget that many other people on the show have done terrible things and people still continue to love them. This show is very crazy and complicated and the only way to enjoy it is to have an open mind. Just some advice.

We have two views of grounders. One from Clark's perspective where Alexa is a good Heda and grounders want peace. Other perspective is from Bellamy, last season he was undercover and helped caged grounders escape, then grounders double crossed them by breaking alliance and fleeing from the mountain people. If Alexa hadn't ordered retreat last when Bellamy interacted with grounders he might have been more understanding of them. In Bellamy experience they were hunted by grounders and warred against grounders when they just landed on earth. Then they were betrayed by grounders and he had to kill friendly mountain people and kids because of grounders betrayal. Bellamy had to commit genocide last season, because of betrayal. In his eyes grounders couldn't be trusted and if there are grounders surrounding their camp, his first instinct will be preemptive retaliation
@aleinadzap6040

One thing that must be remembered is that Bellamy doesn't trust Lexa, at all. So, she says she's sending 300 warriors to protect them, but what if she changes her mind? What if she betrays them again? She has done it before, what's to stop her from doing it again? In his mind, he was protecting his people by enabling Pike. Besides, he was just betrayed by another grounder that he personally trusted, Echo, and it led to the death of 48 of his people, including his girlfriend. In his eyes, there's little difference between Treekru and Azgeda because there's little difference between Lexa and Echo. They're both traitors and he's not going to make the mistake of ever trusting them again. And he doesn't understand how Clarke can trust Lexa's word again after what happened. Anyway, that's my two cents.

I disagree (also coming from a big Bellamy fan). More light should have been shed on him and his trauma, it would have enhanced the story and made him more sympathetic. But his arc makes sense within the context of the story. Trikru massacred the delinquents, attempted to decimate them completely under Lexa's orders. Lexa with her coalition threatened to massacre all of the Arkadians if they didn't leave. Then Lexa, after having struck an alliance, betrayed them and left them to die, forcing them to kill people who'd aided them. Echo's subsequent betrayal and the Azgeda attack... It's unreasonable to expect Bellamy to behave in any way that isn't negative, to hold no resentment or anger towards Lexa and her coalition or even just Trikru on an individual level, to trust Lexa who had proven to be dishonrable. The build-up for this arc is solid. It didn't come out of nowhere.

Love The Normies . Love The 100. The writers have a genius for twists and surprises. >Chris, it's not a show about how everyone can get along. Quiet the opposite, as you may come to agree. >The reason for the inevitable conflicts is almost always the same -- poor communication. >One beloved character is trying to make things right in one venue, while another is trying to make things right in another -- but the efforts are at cross-purposes. Seriously -- the writers are geniuses.

listen while do I also do not agree with Bellamy’s actions I understand why he did what he did. it’s also explained later on in the season. but these grounders were send by lexa and you remember what happened last time they trusted her (she betrayed them and this forced them to massacre MW) also he was betrayed again in the begging of this season by another grounder (echo) and another massacre happened. so him choosing not to trust lexa actually make sense. he’s also very vulnerable rn blaming himself for the two previous massacres so when the whole army of grounders surrounds them he obviously thinks that they’re here to attack them as this is all they did since they came back to the ground. and he doesn’t wanna lose more of his people and wants to protect them. and he’s under the influence of pike and he wants to believe his ideology that they’re the bad guys and the skykru are the good guys bc it easier than considering all the grey areas

You guys have the exact same discussions before and after every episode about how you feel about the show and comparing it to others. I enjoy the reactions and the discussions about the actual episodes, but talking about how much you all like or dislike the show is becoming tiring. At this point you're just saying the same things and have the same opinions that you've had about the show for a while, and it doesn't seem to be changing. I don't really see why these discussions keep happening now.

Yes Clark did do that shit, but Clark can't be blamed for Lexa betraying them. Bellamy is just a brat throwing a tantrum. He has NO direction and Pike is offering what sounds good to someone too pissed off to see reason. "let them try" he says who are these farmers to think they can fight against a people who have been warring for longer than they've been alive. war is in the grounder's nature. the Arcadians are Civilians with a few guns. the grounders are thousands of warriors one and all. Even the Grounder farmers are warriors.

The rest have only shown him violence and betrayal. Echo, the only other grounder he liked, betrayed him and got sm people killed in mt weather. Also, Pat's attempts to explain things r horrible😭 One of the only things I didn't like about the season was Clarke's influence on Lexa.

i was willing to listen to you guys argue silently but then i heard the guy say "internet--" so i'm gonna leave my opinion yall ignored bellamy's speech about how clarke let the bomb drop on tondc thinking octavia was there. youre mad at bellamy for killing s o l d i e r s when clarke and lexa let a bomb drop on villagers and civilians to "strengthen her army" and then she retreats from the war leaving clarke and skaikru at the mercy of mount weather. let me continue. clarke told bellamy "i knew i could leave because they had you." yet she ignores the fact that bellamy and clearly all of the skaikru that voted for pike are still traumatized by what happened in mount weather. clarke left camp jaha so she had no idea what they wanted yet she told lexa she could have power over skaikru despite the fact that skaikru is clearly still weary of lexa. sending 300 soldiers, the same soldiers who were attacking in season one and would attack again if lexa ordered, was an intimidation tact for them, and pike tried telling them to leave several times, making it clear skaikru didnt want them. so saying "bellamy is ruined because he killed an army" don't so easily look over clarke who let the bomb drop on tondc and made the decision to kill dante, thus furthering cage to continue the war and killing everyone including maya in mount weather.

I have no problem with people not liking Bellamy's turn. But can they stop ignoring what the show is telling them? Pike and Bellamy knew that Lexa sent the army. They knew that they told Kane the army was here to protect them. BUT they did not know that that was true. Pike fully believed that the army was going to attack them the first chance they got. Bellamy was so full of anger and his memories of what the grounders have done to his people, that Pike was able to convince them it was true. So no, they did not KNOW that they were allies. They didn't attack people who they thought were there friends. That's why Pike didn't want the crowd killing Lincoln last episode, he believed Lincoln to be their ally. Bellamy did not think this would be a massacre. He thought it was a sneak preemptive strike on an enemy army. Something that is done all the time in war. When the battle was over, he tried to convince Pike to spare ALL the wounded (something some on the couch didn't seem to hear). When he couldn't convince them of that, he saved who he could, Indra. Then, when he came back, he was clearly distraught, but most of the crew seems to think he wasn't. He even told Pike that what they did was too far. Hate Bellamy if you want, but don't ignore the fact that the characters do not enjoy the omniscience of the audience

Wow. The dude with the glasses (I think his name is Pat) is so severely wrong about Bellamy. BELLAMY ABSOLUTELY KNEW THE GROUNDERS WERE THERE TO PROTECT THEM. Literally, Pike came into the memorial room and told Abby & Kane that there was an army of Grounders outside their camp. Which forced Abby & Kane to announce it to everyone in the room. Literally, Abby & Kane said yes, there is an army of Grounders outside but they are here to protect us under Lexa's orders. Bellamy was in the room. So he knew. Bellamy's issues is that he's so angry with the Grounders for losing his GF and more of his people and Pike is fueling the fire (fueling his anger essentially) and Bellamy went off. Not to mention Bellamy doesn't really trust Grounders anyways. So yes, dude went crazy. The dude that keeps calling Clarke two-face. Um....she's been faced with the hardest decisions. One of the main themes of this show is that nothing is black and white. There aren't just good people and bad people. Morality is grey. Almost everyone is a grey character. On a side note. If I were Clarke...I would offer up Pike to the Grounders. LOL!

While I do agree with the general sentiment of this point, I think this is a bit of a false equivalence. Finn killed several unarmed captives that seemed to be the closest thing grounder culture has to civilians, and he did it as an individual. Bellamy, as one of many soldiers, participated in an ambush & massacre of warriors. Not saying either is right or okay, just that they're quite different circumstances. Something I really like about this show is that pretty much every character is morally gray, and many of them are forced to make hard decisions with no clear 'right' answer. It leaves the viewers to contemplate, and sometimes argue about, the characters' decisions.
