I know the feeling. You can watch TGV and end up with a DW-290 which Jody hates but he loves. I think the right Oceanus could make a lot of watches much less appealing by comparison, so that could be an effective treatment. 😉

A slightly domed sapphire would make this watch look incredible. This one reminds me of the Duro, but in GADA form. Upgrade the crystal, upgrade to a nice strap, and it's beating much more expensive watches.

Hi Jody, thanks for this. I bought one - it's a goodie. Swapped out the bracelet for a brown leather strap. As an aside, I don't mind at all cheapskate bracelets. Prefer to see the dosh - my dosh actually - go towards the watch. I would be interested to see a vid swapping out the crystal.

I agree it’s better without the sunburst dial - not because that’s over the top, but because I find it changes the color depending on the lighting and angle. I have a yellow dial Doxa and Smiths Caribbean, and they sometimes look gold, sometimes even sort of green. The sunburst dial is why I didn’t buy a Tsuyosa.

Take a EFB-108D or EFR-S108D both with sapphire glas and very thin. And now in more color variations. Great watches for the price. But you cannot change the bracelet as far as I know.

I'm glad Casio are keeping this watch around and adding some fun colours, it's going to be another timeless classic like the Duro - except it's a much more sensible size. Before they intrroduced these new colours though they should have rereleased the white dial version or at made it more available. Also, when this watch was first available not that long ago it was 60 quid with the dreaded VAT, now it's 75 quid, that's quite a jump in price in a short space of time. It's defnately worth it though, if you're a collector of budget friendly watches you'd be mad not to have one in your collection. (Go for the sapphire)

I just got the blue one! And it looks amazing, I have a new favorite in my collection :D I have to agree with evereyting in this video, looks great, the bracelet is rattle but comfortable to wear, loom sucks. And how much would cost one more adjust hole? 50c? Anyway, I can recomend. It is really similar to Erebus Ascent, just has crown guard :). And the second hand do not move so smoothly.

Great watch. I have the EFR-S108 series that are a little bit more compact on nearly 40mm. However the reference you are presenting here has the following specs according to the official Casio website and a lot of dealers: 48 × 42 × 10.9 mm . Can you pls check if the case diameter without crown is really 40mm? Wish that to be 38 but if it is really 40 instead of 42, I will probably pull the trigger.

I just put a sapphire crystal in mine. The crystal is an odd size. Mine was about $35. I haven't seen it on Ali. Also found a decent solid link bracelet, had to use it original hollow endlinks. I'm on the hunt for hands with better lume. That's tough due to ithe 110/65 hole size. Might have to swap the movement for a vh31.. At least the case is suoer swee as is. Edit: I forgot, I ended up using the bracelet from the proxima px1690. Its solid endlinks sit a bit low in the lugs but the ends of the female endlinks match up ok. It feels extremely nice on my wrist.

I literally just ordered the gray dial version last night. Orange was sold out. I still say that, among established watch brands - no Addiesdive, Steeldive or Cadisen, etc... - the white dial version is probably the cheapest watch I'd want to live with as a daily. On a leather strap, of course. The bracelet is borderline rubbish. I did brush one out though. Looks better but still feels a bit cheesy. SNK was close but a touch smaller than I find ideal and no longer under $100.

I’ve got the older white-dial version, and it’s lovely. The hands and indices have a darker silver, almost gunmetal, and they look mostly black in some lighting situations, silver in others. The only problem with these new colorways, IMHO, is that they’re still a big PITA to source them in the US. Would it have killed Casio to just release them in the US directly?

I would love to see a Pillar box/ Fire Engine RED variant of this watch .I reckon it would sell well. Since Rolex came out with their 2020 rrrp $8,600 AUD watches (Reference number escapes me ) and their tiffany Blue version went gangbuster's, every company has tried to do a light blue version . However Rolex did do a Red version at the time in that release as well as a Green as well.

Apart from the sapphire (which is an interesting experiment), is it possible to buy a generic replacement bracelet for watches like this just using the 20 or 22mm size? Or is the fit between the bracelet and the watch case too specific?

Depends on the end links. There are a decent number of straight end link bracelets, and those will work fine. For fitted end links, almost surely not. There’s a lot which goes on for getting a good fit, from case diameter (bigger cases have a more gentle curve), lug length, hole placement along the lug. I have two Casios which came with curved end links, both 22mm, but neither of the bracelets fit on the Casio Duro, which is also 22mm. There are certainly 3rd party bracelets which exist for specific watches with well-fitting curved end links, but I would go for them unless the model matched. Maybe some would work for the specific watches, but it’s not a given.
