I don’t know why this just occurred to me, but I wonder if “crossing a river” is an analogy for some other threshold that the three brothers crossed in their magical experimentation that would have angered death. Simply crossing a literal river seems pretty basic to anger literal death
@RavenPeake5 ай бұрын
I can totally see it. Like a crossroads or a point of no return. The oldest two had done too much and their experiments were too dangerous. The youngest employs passive, protective magic. Antioch wanted to progressively cause death. Cadmus wanted to pervert the cycle of life and death. Ignotus wanted to preserve himself and his loved ones and he still respected the cycle of life.
@teddyhh99474 ай бұрын
Maybe they had a purposefully induced near-death experience. In old magical teaching that is a quite common practice, where the goal is to wrest some knowledge from the other side before coming back a wiser man
@Maholix4 ай бұрын
This makes so much sense. I can't remember who said it, but I recall a theory that the elder wand is just made of Elder wood and a thestral core. Basically a darker less loyal unicorn wand. Thus, I have a theory of my own.. If true that the elder wand required a thestral, it means the brother who made the wand had to witness someone die. The stone could have been a container for a soul. Not a horcrux exactly, but something that holds the dying in a state that prevents the moment of death. A sort of limbo if you will. The cloak could have been related to the veil between the living and the dead, since the word veil has a double meaning. Veil can also mean a kind of garment, so maybe the cloak hints at this. If so, each item relates to a plot to almost die.. almost but not quite. To use the moment of death to stage an experiment that "cheated" death. Each Hallow is named so simply. What if each item just started with the brothers calling them by what they literally were. The stone, the wand and the veil became items of legend, but only because the brothers were not willing to tell others what had happened. After all, how do you experiment with death in such a way unless you know EXACTLY when someone is going to die and prepare for it?

@rhondacrosswhite80485 ай бұрын
I beg to differ on the point of Dumbledore raising Harry only to have him die. This may have been factual up until Goblet Of Fire but as soon as Dumby learned that Voldemort used Harry's blood to resurrect himself, he either knew or strongly believed that the blood was Harry's ticket to life. He couldn't let anyone know what he believed because Harry had to BELIEVE that he was going to die. Harry, believing that he was going to die also let him cast the same protection spell that his mother did for him. No one else knew that Voldy could not kill him as they both shared Lily's blood.

Why do folk still say he 'raised him as a pig for slaughter'? As soon as he heard baldydork had taken Harry's blood he knew he had him. He wouldn't be able to kill Harry cos of the blood, it was deep, ancient magic and I believe Dumbledore wasn't totally sure that Harry would be ok but he was sure enough. Im not saying Dumbledore didn't routinely put children in danger and scare the shite out of them. But I think he had enough understanding of the old magic to be fairly sure he'd survive.

Because this is how Snape describes it… and Dumbledore didn’t know Voldemort would take Harry’s blood… he had been raising Harry to die for 14 years up to that point, so he had been raising him like a pig for slaughter
@Larka6615 ай бұрын
@jamessmithson-br7rm Actually, Dumbledore knew more than people gave him credit for. He knew eventually Voldemort would return. He knew Harry was a horcrux when he held him as a baby. The concept of taking Harry's blood was technically luck. That's why Dumbledore had a look of triumph on his face after Harry told him. Dumbledore didn't tell anyone for fear of that information getting out. As long as Voldemort lived, so did the protection charm. And that meant Harry couldn't be killed by Voldemort. And due to Voldemort's personality and obsessions he wouldn't let anyone but himself kill Harry. Dumbledore knew Harry would survive. In limbo Harry asks if Dumbledore knew he'd survive, to which Dumbledore smiles and says "I guessed." Which we all know he was just being humble.
@SMT_Pnut5 ай бұрын
voldemort couldve killed harry without. its better described in the movie, but harry had to be willing to die in order to come back. if harry knew he could live, it wouldnt have worked. so he told snape that harry had to die, so snape could show the memory and harry would be willing to die.
@Larka6615 ай бұрын
Actually, it's in the book, not the movie. Voldemort taking Harry's blood seeled his fate, and Dumbledore explained this in limbo. Taking Harry's blood made the protection charm stronger. Making Voldemort the only person unable to kill Harry. "As long as Voldemort lives, so does the protection charm." Which is why in the final duel, Voldemort's killing curse rebounded again. And as for killing Harry in the forest, all he did was kill his own horcrux. Because the protection charm was still in effect, and Harry sacrafising himself caused another protection charm for those fighting Voldemort.@SMT_Pnut

@aimless9 I don't mind when people want to come up with a new storyline. Someone wants Voldemort to be the victim, and Dumbledore is the villain? Fine with me, but create the logic, evidence, and facts that fit the new storyline. But, I really dislike the idea when people create a conspiracy when the evidence doesn't even support a conspiracy. These people are trying to use the existing facts, twisting them into something that doesn't exist in the story. If they did this in a court of law, they would be held in contempt of court at the very least. You recreate a story, as long as the copyright owner has no problem with it. But, you can't tamper with the evidence in something that already exists. I really dislike these videos.

Theory... Dumbledore always believed in questionable plans for the greater good. And who else would he fear to discover his secret plans then his staff? My theory is that Dumbledore is intentionally helping rule breaking students in order to keep his staff distracted. For example i think Dumbledore taught the mauraders how to turn into animals and helped them create the mauraders map as well as teach fred qnd George how to use it... What better way to keep your staff busy then help your rule breaking students and then choose to never let them get expelled?

I don’t get the need some have to paint Dumbledore as a dark character. Yes he went through a phase in adolescence where, influenced by a very dark character he dabbled with evil ideas. He behaved badly towards his family in his grief, and he may have accidentally killed his sister. But he pulled back from that path at an early stage and lived his life in the service of Wizardkind. He was clearly a good, or even a great man, as well as a great wizard.

The Dumbledore horcrux thing: I think that if he had used Fawks as a horcrux, that would have destroyed the horcrux the first time that the phoenix went through the burn and rebirth cycle. Even if the Elder wand had been in his possession at the time, the film version has Harry snap that wand like a dry twig. the other horcruxes we encounterd were nigh indestructible. Although I even take things taken from interviews with the author with a grain of salt, if Dumbledore did make a horcrux, it wasn't in either of those items.

Just a thought. Could it be that Dumbledore found a loophole in creating a horcrux? He might have "killed" his Phoenix, who would then have been reborn from the ashes. No major harm done, and might have somewhat satisfied the requirements.
@lironkufert74955 ай бұрын
That's actually a very good idea, it could work. The only thing is, I don't think Dumbledore made a horcrux because this act darkens your soul and then his magic would become dark, and with that Dumbledore wouldn't have been able to summon the sword of griffindor or do any light magic, we can see by the color of the magic that comes out of his wand that Dumbledore hasn't gone dark, and also he was able to go beyond when he died. Had he created a horcrux, his soul would have stayed in the limbo and would have looked as maimed as voldemort’s soul fragment that was inside Harry. We say in the limbo that Dumbledore's soul is still intact. And also if Dumbledore had created a horcrux he wouldn't have died at the hands of Snape, he would have been tethered to life as voldemort was when his spell was fired while attempting to kill baby Harry

I could def see Dumbledore trying to manipulate Tom to avoid another Grindelwald, one who is the heir of Slytherin no less, but the idea that he would allow Tom to make Horcruxes is a quantum leap. The idea that he would've known there were 7 and waited until Voldy was back to do anything about them is to be on all the drugs. 5:30 Dumbledore did some heavy research into Voldemort and his creating the different horcrux. Voldemort killed lots of people but saved making a horcrux for special occasions such as killing strong and/or meaningful people/witches/wizards. Killing Moaning Myrtle was not a special occasion or strong. She wasn't even his first kill, that honor goes to his father and grand parents. Dumbledore specifically says this and that Voldemort made his first horcrux at that time. During his research, Moaning Myrtle isn't even a foot note. She was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. As far as we can tell, he doesn't even think to talk to her and he was at Hogwarts when she died.

And was it impossible for him to get ahold of it being from Slytherin or could he take it from a Gryffindor without it disappearing before he could make a horcrux.

I should point out that Dumbledore gave Snape the sword to give to Harry. I therefore assume that non-Gryffindor's can hold on to the sword. My take on these Dumbledore death theories is that Dumbledore wasnt lieing. Ever. He put the ring on. Not to kill himself. But because he thought it would grant him the power to bring back his dead loved ones. I doubt he actually forgot it was a horcrux. And more forgot what that meant. He was very full of himself and confident of his powers. I suspect he figured he could handle the aftermath and master the stone at the same time. Only to realize that both were false. He was humbled. It wasnt a self scarficing plan but a moment of pure hubris from him. A flaw he admitted to having often. He figured, in the moment, he was stronger than Voldemort and more clever than Death. Also i think Snape totally killed him. I believe his curse wasnt a full power because he lacked the true desire, even though he never seemed to like Dumbledore at all, he never hated him either. If Dumbledore wasnt at deaths door from the ring and the potion he drank with Harry, the curse likely would have simply harmed him and not killed him. But being severely weakened, it was enough to do the job.

All he really had to do was point Riddle falsely towards some powerful source early in the game, but said source carried a powerful curse that would have taken Riddle out of the running.

There is some debate about the theory that Morgan Le Fey created one, but there's no supporting info either way. That said, it's been mentioned that people have tried and failed, so in all likelihood, there could have been evil witches similar to Bellatrix, that could have made the attempt and failed.

Dumbledore had been a dark wizard? I understand that he was once the companion of Grindelwald, and that they once shared desires of greatness. Still, I had never heard that he was ever a wielder of dark magic.

i don’t care what anyone says about dumbledore , he was the smartest person and he did what he needed to and single-handedly kept harry alive (i know it wasn’t just him who helped harry) but nobody would’ve thought or had the power the way dumbledore did 🤷🏻♀️

The Dumbledore Death thing probably would have happened after the first step after he likely would have wanted death. Or after whatever point ended his sister's life.

As far as the theory that Dumbledore used a spell or apparated the only reason that I dismiss them is because he had no wand

Dumbledore is death. The scene where harry "dies" proves that. In death harry sees one person dumbledore. Dumbledore also says he has a scar of the london underground. Where did harry go at death ?

32:10 this isn't weird. It's a specific technology. Like, think of all the different software that does the same thing but they work differently. I agree that he wanted to study the hallows, but the argument for it... I think I can understand why he would, even if he could make himself invisible.

I have another question. Could Dumbledore not have destroyed the ring horcrux and decursify it before using the stone? Does a cursed object loses it's curse after it affects someone and this is how Harry was able to use it later?

Wow I'm sorry but I just sort of lost it when the theory goes that Dumbledore set him up Voldimort with horricrux books bc it might maybe defeat him some day. Because Dumbledore didnt want to become TOO powerful? Come on dude you're giving JKR too much credit. it really comes off more that Dumbledore secretly wanted him to win.

I always hate Dumbledore bashing it's so stupid, should he have told Harry that he was a horcrux when he was 11 when Harry had no occlumency and just tell him everything? One of the reasons Harry came back was because he didn't know he could come back, had he known that Voldemort having his blood would have saved him the sacrifice wouldn't have been genuine and therefore he wouldn't have been able to come back.

If dementors were once wizards what if said wizard made a horcrux before they were turned? Could you create a horcrux out of a dementor? 👀
@Avatar1881-u7z2 ай бұрын
After rereading the books I'm now currently at chapter 4 of Half Blood Prince, I've determined that Harry is very stupid, Sirius died partly because of him, had he just listened to Hermione and Dumbledore and practiced Occlumency like he was supposed to, Sirius would still be alive, he also could have reported Umbridge to Mcgonagall or Dumbledore but his stupid pride got in the way, if Umbridge had tortured me like that I'd have either killed her or reported her after the first detention. A lot of his troubles in OOTP could have been avoided had he listened to other people.

Voldemort wasn't evil he was following nature. The strong subjugate the weak. After all why should strong witches an wizards hide from muggles ? His downfall was noble not wanting to waste/shed magical blood. If all Voldemort wanted was power he could kill mass wizards an witches and be a god over muggles but what he really wanted was magical people to rule over non magical

why go out of his way to ensure tom goes as far as he did tho? the harry aspect I understand he would need to die to save all of wizard kind and human kind, but at any point along the way he could have helped, stopped or had tom imprisoned rather than set up a elaborate un-needed plan.

How come Dumbledores hand blackened by the ring although the golden trio and Umbridge were able to wear slytherens locket without permanent harm?
@johnjstamos39965 ай бұрын
Voldemort placed a curse upon that ring. And before Dumbledore destroyed the ring, he realized that the resurrection stone was on the ring, and he foolishly put it on, which activated the curse and killed his hand. It may have killed Dumbledore all the way but luckily Snape helped him and trapped the curse just to his hand.

I’ve just thought of something do you think Dumbledore might of manipulated Voldemort to go to the Potter’s house I mean Dumbledore had the cloak so he probably new that by killing both of the potters would make the events play out no it’s pretty out there but it does kind of make sense

I still don't understand pure blood. If two muggle born wizard have a kid that's a pure blood but if a 1000 year old wizard family have a squib isn't that a muggle ? And how are half bloods like snape an Voldemort pure blood fanatics ?
@rustystevenson56882 ай бұрын
You keep referring to a specific ritual to make a horcrux so how could he “inadvertently” make a horcrux in Harry? Lao as far as borrowing the cloak you need to keep in mind that he asked. James didn’t have to give it to him if he thought there was any danger. It seems he didn’t think he would be using it.

Because Voldemorts soul was unstable from having made previous horcruxes.
