I don’t know why this just occurred to me, but I wonder if “crossing a river” is an analogy for some other threshold that the three brothers crossed in their magical experimentation that would have angered death. Simply crossing a literal river seems pretty basic to anger literal death
@RavenPeake
@RavenPeake 8 ай бұрын
I can totally see it. Like a crossroads or a point of no return. The oldest two had done too much and their experiments were too dangerous. The youngest employs passive, protective magic. Antioch wanted to progressively cause death. Cadmus wanted to pervert the cycle of life and death. Ignotus wanted to preserve himself and his loved ones and he still respected the cycle of life.

This makes so much sense. I can't remember who said it, but I recall a theory that the elder wand is just made of Elder wood and a thestral core. Basically a darker less loyal unicorn wand. Thus, I have a theory of my own.. If true that the elder wand required a thestral, it means the brother who made the wand had to witness someone die. The stone could have been a container for a soul. Not a horcrux exactly, but something that holds the dying in a state that prevents the moment of death. A sort of limbo if you will. The cloak could have been related to the veil between the living and the dead, since the word veil has a double meaning. Veil can also mean a kind of garment, so maybe the cloak hints at this. If so, each item relates to a plot to almost die.. almost but not quite. To use the moment of death to stage an experiment that "cheated" death. Each Hallow is named so simply. What if each item just started with the brothers calling them by what they literally were. The stone, the wand and the veil became items of legend, but only because the brothers were not willing to tell others what had happened. After all, how do you experiment with death in such a way unless you know EXACTLY when someone is going to die and prepare for it?

Dumbledore did not "allow" dementors to roam the grounds. The ministry of magic imposed the dementors on the school and Dumbledore insisted that they stay outside the boundaries of the school. They broke that rule when they came to the quiddich match and he drove them back. He also insisted that Fudge remove them from the school after they tried to use the kiss on Harry

I beg to differ on the point of Dumbledore raising Harry only to have him die. This may have been factual up until Goblet Of Fire but as soon as Dumby learned that Voldemort used Harry's blood to resurrect himself, he either knew or strongly believed that the blood was Harry's ticket to life. He couldn't let anyone know what he believed because Harry had to BELIEVE that he was going to die. Harry, believing that he was going to die also let him cast the same protection spell that his mother did for him. No one else knew that Voldy could not kill him as they both shared Lily's blood.

The first one is ridiculous. I could def see Dumbledore trying to manipulate Tom to avoid another Grindelwald, one who is the heir of Slytherin no less, but the idea that he would allow Tom to make Horcruxes is a quantum leap. The idea that he would've known there were 7 and waited until Voldy was back to do anything about them is to be on all the drugs. The idea of him being Death incarnate is kinda cool, but you could use that argument about anyone who sought the Hollows.

@aimless9 I don't mind when people want to come up with a new storyline. Someone wants Voldemort to be the victim, and Dumbledore is the villain? Fine with me, but create the logic, evidence, and facts that fit the new storyline. But, I really dislike the idea when people create a conspiracy when the evidence doesn't even support a conspiracy. These people are trying to use the existing facts, twisting them into something that doesn't exist in the story. If they did this in a court of law, they would be held in contempt of court at the very least. You recreate a story, as long as the copyright owner has no problem with it. But, you can't tamper with the evidence in something that already exists. I really dislike these videos.

Dumbledore would have known that Voldy would have made a horcrux after the second book at the latest. Remember the diary was the first Horcrux created and was the first destroyed. He would have known that Voldy made multiple after the 4th book, but not how many. The 6th book is Dumbledore trying to figure out how many. He knew he had found another because of the ring, but no clue how many total. That’s why getting the memory from Slughorn was so important. That was where Voldy let his plan slip. Voldy just thought he could intimidate Slughorn into never telling anyone. Why do you think the Death Eaters were trying to find and recruit him? Voldy knew Slughorn was a potential loose end.

Why do folk still say he 'raised him as a pig for slaughter'? As soon as he heard baldydork had taken Harry's blood he knew he had him. He wouldn't be able to kill Harry cos of the blood, it was deep, ancient magic and I believe Dumbledore wasn't totally sure that Harry would be ok but he was sure enough. Im not saying Dumbledore didn't routinely put children in danger and scare the shite out of them. But I think he had enough understanding of the old magic to be fairly sure he'd survive.

@Larka661
@Larka661 8 ай бұрын
@jamessmithson-br7rm Actually, Dumbledore knew more than people gave him credit for. He knew eventually Voldemort would return. He knew Harry was a horcrux when he held him as a baby. The concept of taking Harry's blood was technically luck. That's why Dumbledore had a look of triumph on his face after Harry told him. Dumbledore didn't tell anyone for fear of that information getting out. As long as Voldemort lived, so did the protection charm. And that meant Harry couldn't be killed by Voldemort. And due to Voldemort's personality and obsessions he wouldn't let anyone but himself kill Harry. Dumbledore knew Harry would survive. In limbo Harry asks if Dumbledore knew he'd survive, to which Dumbledore smiles and says "I guessed." Which we all know he was just being humble.

voldemort couldve killed harry without. its better described in the movie, but harry had to be willing to die in order to come back. if harry knew he could live, it wouldnt have worked. so he told snape that harry had to die, so snape could show the memory and harry would be willing to die.
@Larka661
@Larka661 8 ай бұрын
Actually, it's in the book, not the movie. Voldemort taking Harry's blood seeled his fate, and Dumbledore explained this in limbo. Taking Harry's blood made the protection charm stronger. Making Voldemort the only person unable to kill Harry. "As long as Voldemort lives, so does the protection charm." Which is why in the final duel, Voldemort's killing curse rebounded again. And as for killing Harry in the forest, all he did was kill his own horcrux. Because the protection charm was still in effect, and Harry sacrafising himself caused another protection charm for those fighting Voldemort.@SMT_Pnut

That's actually a very good idea, it could work. The only thing is, I don't think Dumbledore made a horcrux because this act darkens your soul and then his magic would become dark, and with that Dumbledore wouldn't have been able to summon the sword of griffindor or do any light magic, we can see by the color of the magic that comes out of his wand that Dumbledore hasn't gone dark, and also he was able to go beyond when he died. Had he created a horcrux, his soul would have stayed in the limbo and would have looked as maimed as voldemort’s soul fragment that was inside Harry. We say in the limbo that Dumbledore's soul is still intact. And also if Dumbledore had created a horcrux he wouldn't have died at the hands of Snape, he would have been tethered to life as voldemort was when his spell was fired while attempting to kill baby Harry

Theory... Dumbledore always believed in questionable plans for the greater good. And who else would he fear to discover his secret plans then his staff? My theory is that Dumbledore is intentionally helping rule breaking students in order to keep his staff distracted. For example i think Dumbledore taught the mauraders how to turn into animals and helped them create the mauraders map as well as teach fred qnd George how to use it... What better way to keep your staff busy then help your rule breaking students and then choose to never let them get expelled?

My take on these Dumbledore death theories is that Dumbledore wasnt lieing. Ever. He put the ring on. Not to kill himself. But because he thought it would grant him the power to bring back his dead loved ones. I doubt he actually forgot it was a horcrux. And more forgot what that meant. He was very full of himself and confident of his powers. I suspect he figured he could handle the aftermath and master the stone at the same time. Only to realize that both were false. He was humbled. It wasnt a self scarficing plan but a moment of pure hubris from him. A flaw he admitted to having often. He figured, in the moment, he was stronger than Voldemort and more clever than Death. Also i think Snape totally killed him. I believe his curse wasnt a full power because he lacked the true desire, even though he never seemed to like Dumbledore at all, he never hated him either. If Dumbledore wasnt at deaths door from the ring and the potion he drank with Harry, the curse likely would have simply harmed him and not killed him. But being severely weakened, it was enough to do the job.

The three tests in the movie were a distraction. The real test was wanting to possess the stone but not use it. Three first year students and Voldemort beat the three easy tests, but only Harry did want to use the stone.

The Dumbledore horcrux thing: I think that if he had used Fawks as a horcrux, that would have destroyed the horcrux the first time that the phoenix went through the burn and rebirth cycle. Even if the Elder wand had been in his possession at the time, the film version has Harry snap that wand like a dry twig. the other horcruxes we encounterd were nigh indestructible. Although I even take things taken from interviews with the author with a grain of salt, if Dumbledore did make a horcrux, it wasn't in either of those items.

5:30 Dumbledore did some heavy research into Voldemort and his creating the different horcrux. Voldemort killed lots of people but saved making a horcrux for special occasions such as killing strong and/or meaningful people/witches/wizards. Killing Moaning Myrtle was not a special occasion or strong. She wasn't even his first kill, that honor goes to his father and grand parents. Dumbledore specifically says this and that Voldemort made his first horcrux at that time. During his research, Moaning Myrtle isn't even a foot note. She was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. As far as we can tell, he doesn't even think to talk to her and he was at Hogwarts when she died.

If she'd have been bullied after her move, then everyone, magical or not, that lived in the area, would have known of her existence. The idea, therefore, that she'd have been bullied after her move doesn't really hold water for me.

I don’t get the need some have to paint Dumbledore as a dark character. Yes he went through a phase in adolescence where, influenced by a very dark character he dabbled with evil ideas. He behaved badly towards his family in his grief, and he may have accidentally killed his sister. But he pulled back from that path at an early stage and lived his life in the service of Wizardkind. He was clearly a good, or even a great man, as well as a great wizard.

The brothers didn't meet death, they saw death, that is they saw someone die, then they all immediately saw a thestral materialize and thought it must be death as they aren't well known even in the magical community as they're seen as bad luck and even death omens or related to death in other ways so it's not far fetched to think it was death or a version of, and we already know the elder wand has a thestral core, and the invisibility cloak being thestral skin makes sense as they are invisible to anyone that hasn't seen death and the cloak acts in a similar way in that you can only see through it if you have experienced death meaning the living cant see through it and the stone is the stone found in a thestrals stomach similar to that of a bezoar enabling the holder to see past deaths veil which it's believed thestrals can naturally do anyway so in the story, death gives them these items like the cloak off his back but in reality the 3 brothers slayed the thestral and fashioned the items from it's remains like the skin making the cloak and together became masters of 'death' having believed to have slain death, upon splitting up though 2 nearly imediately died so the rumor of 'uniting all the hallows' and becoming 'the master of death' was born. Dumbledore even backs this theory saying the 3 brothers were powerful wizards well learned in the magical arts and likely made the hallows and didn't actually meet death

My newest theory: Dumbledore, head of the Wizengamot, ensured that Sirius went straight to Azkaban without trial so that he couldn’t put up a fight about sending Harry to the abusive Dursleys, essentially clearing Dumbledore’s path to manipulate Harry from the very beginning. If Sirius had been involved from the beginning, he would have been Harry’s advocate and have a stronger position making decisions for Harry’s wellbeing, and would likely have told Harry about the prophecy etc.

I think the color difference might be more because of the feelings Snape was having when he had to cast it. They don’t explain the meaning behind the colors but I wonder if it has something to do with the feelings and intentions of the wizard/witch casting the spell. Great video, I’m glad I found your channel!

Question: If Voldamort got the Sword of Gryffindor and made it into a horcrux would he have been truly immortal because the blade only takes in what makes it stronger nobody could destroy it. And was it impossible for him to get ahold of it being from Slytherin or could he take it from a Gryffindor without it disappearing before he could make a horcrux.
@catterin7815
@catterin7815 8 ай бұрын
I should point out that Dumbledore gave Snape the sword to give to Harry. I therefore assume that non-Gryffindor's can hold on to the sword. I don't count Bellatrix's holding the sword because she only had a copy. This doesn't mean that if Voldemort somehow got the sword that it wouldn't just disappear as soon as he tried to make it a horcrux.

I have a question... though maybe it was answered and I didn't pay attention. If Dumbledore faked his death at the tower, wouldn't he still die shortly afterwards because of his cursed hand? Or would Voldemort's death cancel the curse?

It's a huge cliffhanger. And we probably won't ever see the other two movies. The main thing from the 3rd movie is that the blood pact gets broken, Dumbledore and Grindlewald have a duel, which kinda winds up as a draw. There's plenty if other stuff that went on, but that was the only detail that was memorable to me.

something that would’ve also been interesting regarding the dumbledore is death theory is that the only wizard voldemort was afraid of was dumbledore. voldemort was also terrified of death (aka dumbledore in this theory). so you could make the argument that voldemort only feared dumbledore because dumbledore WAS death.

I think, overall, Dumbledore is a reformed dark wizard who has moments and manipulative motives that are still dark in nature. It would make sense that he tries to do good but does underhanded and arguably evil exections of his pursuit of serving the greater good. Thats why I think a few of these theories would make sense about our beloved Head Master.

In my honest opinion Dumbledore was like family to harry and he was like a father figure to him. Dumbledore always protected harry and in the 5th movie Dumbledore fought with Voldemort in the ministry of magic and that finally convinced fudge that Voldemort did return. Dumbledore was such a unique and intelligent character and he was one of the best professors and one of the best wizards of all time. I think snape did care for harry but in his own way. I still love the harry potter movies and I only read parts of the first book but it's been a long time since I read any book in general. Interesting video about Dumbledore and very good insights on one of the most beloved professors in all of the harry potter universe.

I have been watching alot of these videos and I have a question was Dumbledore in the room when lilly and James were killed? Was he using the cloak of invisibility? It would explain how he knew lilly sacrificed herself for harry. It would explain why they didn't have wands (they felt protected). It explains why she sounded like she was talking to someone before voldemort entered room. And how he had possession of the cloak when Harry started school. But I also realize Dumbledore had all three items in his possession at one time also.

Idk if it's cannon or not, but Dumbledore knew sirius was innocent bc he was the one who helped the potters switch secret keepers, but Dumbledore knew that since sirius was Harry's godfather a) sirius would never let Dumbledore take harry to the dursleys and b) the ministry would never let Dumbledore make that decision especially if the one who legally is Harry's guardian is still in the picture.

I feel like the three brothers story is supposed to tell wizards that you have powers that disrupt the natural order and that without humbleness to temper them, you're going to have a short life. I don't feel like death was evil, just natural. I don't feel like he was bored either or playing around. He greeted the youngest brother as a friend. The youngest brother wasn't a dumb person, so I don't think he'd be so friendly with someone who killed his older brothers if it wasn't understood that they killed themselves basically.

By that time, his soul was split 6 times and it was very unstable. When the avada kevadra backfired, he couldn't die as he was tethered to life by the other horcruxes, so his soul accidentally split and found refuge in the only living being in the room that was baby Harry. Voldemort didn't plan to create a horcrux that night, it was an accident

Dumbledore definitely died, he didn't have his wand so no axio or broom, not even Dumbledore could apparate in or out the castle, it was his wand in the casket and he definitely wouldn't have left that behind and most importantly.... The unbreakable vow...Snape agreed to three things during the Unbreakable Vow. First, he would watch over Draco as he does the Dark Lord's bidding. Second, he would try to protect him from harm. And third, if Draco failed in his task, Snape had to complete it. The third was he had to kill Dumbledore.

The idea that Dumbledore set Riddle up with a book on Horcruxes is, to me, admittedly pretty dumb. That's encouraging the kid to murder while gaining immortality, when otherwise even the most powerful Dark wizard would still be mortal and thus, could be killed in a moment of distraction. All he really had to do was point Riddle falsely towards some powerful source early in the game, but said source carried a powerful curse that would have taken Riddle out of the running.

To date, no. The only known ones that have done it are, obviously, Voldemort. And another evil wizard that we know next to nothing about, named Herpo, The Foul. There is some debate about the theory that Morgan Le Fey created one, but there's no supporting info either way. That said, it's been mentioned that people have tried and failed, so in all likelihood, there could have been evil witches similar to Bellatrix, that could have made the attempt and failed.

I do not think Dumbledore survived the fall, even if Snape couldn't wholly mean to kill him, because: The curse of the ring when he wore it had already started to kill him, the potion he drank to get to the locket brought him even closer to death (JKR made it clear he was VERY unwell, slumping down along the wall, etc.), then Avada Kadavra on top of it all... no, Dumbledore died and there's no getting away from it.
