The Buick Roadmaster is an automobile that was built by Buick from 1936 until 1942, from 1946 until 1958, and then again from 1991 until 1996. Roadmasters produced between 1936 and 1958 were built on Buick's longest non-limousine wheelbase and shared their basic structure with the entry-level Cadillac Series 65, the Buick Limited, and after 1940, the Oldsmobile 98. Between 1946 and 1957 the Roadmaster served as Buick's flagship.
When it was resurrected for the 1991 through 1996 model years, it became the marque's largest vehicle. The Roadmaster sedan, a C-body vehicle over its eight previous generations, shared the B-body for the first time in its history. It was 10 in (254 mm) longer with a 5 in (127 mm) greater wheelbase than the C-body Buick Park Avenue. It was also larger both in wheelbase (2 in (51 mm)) and overall length (6 in (152 mm)) than the K-body Cadillac DeVille.
1954 - 1956
In 1956 Roadmaster had a shallower Sweepspear that did not dip down to the rocker panel as on other models. Twin chrome strips were on the decklid with Roadmaster spelled out between them. Roadmaster script was positioned on the doors beneath the vent windows. Fender tip dual bombsights were standard. Two stator wheels were adopted as an improvement to Dynaflow. A brand new 4-door Riviera hardtop, proved to be the most popular Roadmaster, with 24,770 units sold and beating the pillared sedan by more than two-to-one. Overall sales were 53,427 (which was 9% of model year production). A padded dash became standard.

In my humble opinion the 1956 Buick's are the most beautiful vehicles ever produced.

This beautiful Buick is absolutely amazing & well worth the wait!!! When I was a little boy back in the sixties our neighbors had a yellow Roadmaster with a red interior just like this one but it wasn't a convertible!!! I thought it was such a cool car back then & I still think that today!!! Thanks for sharing this exciting video & for bringing back those fond childhood memories!!!👍👍🙂

Absolutely gorgeous car. The convertible Buick roadmaster was the pinnacle in prestige. No money was spared with this luxury car. One step behind Cadillac in the General Motors gradings ,however one would not notice. These cars were well advanced ,headlight dimers, electric seats just to name a couple of features. Thanks for your video

I ws 16 in 1966, but didn't start buying cars until I was 17, had a job and a driver's license. 50s vintage cars were all over the place for net to nothing. I had more 56 Buicks than I can count, but didn't keep any of them. I had a fair amount of 58s, too, and have one now but it'll never run again.

I paid $50 for my first 56 Roadmaster convertible in 1967. A guy down the street from me owned it. I admired it for years then finally got it. The transmission leaked like a sieve and finally went out on me completely, neutral in all gears, so I junked it. At the time it was a relief to be rid of it, but I'd take it back in a heartbeat if I could. It had a great engine. Ran perfectly. Don't get me wrong, it was no cream puff, but it was a 56 Roadmaster convertible. I'd love to have it today just as it was back then.
