The 1995 Suburban Gets An Upgrade!! New UpDates For The 1995 Suburban!! GMT400 Gets An UPGRADE!! Here's Why The Suburban Is The Best!!
This 1995 Suburban is in for a bunch of upgrades! I show you all the parts I have ready to install as well as a new toy for the family that the Suburban is happy to haul. This Suburban is the perfect size to haul something like this Old Town Sportsman Canoe. Old Town Canoes are made in the USA and great quality. I've been searching for a good used one for a while and finally found one. I grabbed the 1995 Suburban and went to get it. I was a little nervous about how to strap down a canoe but it turned out to be pretty simple.
This entire video was filmed with the new GoPro Hero 10 Black in 5.3k and exported in 4k. The settings were as follows: 5.3k/24, Bitrate High, Color Flat, White Balance Auto, Sharpness Medium, Lens Linear and Max ISO 400.

I have a 1992 GMC suburban with just over 100,000 miles ( 170,000 kms. ) and I totally agree with you Jimmy. Burbs are the most versatile vehicles ever made. When people ask about it gas mileage as it always seems to come up and I tell them I don't care what the gas mileage is but if you feed it gas it'll do anything you want it to.

I have a 98 Tahoe 4X4 with 349,000 miles. It runs and shifts perfect. The guy I got it from said it was his dad's and he went to Florida every summer. That's where the miles came from. Missouri truck with no rust. These Chevys are the best. Twentieth Century vehicles are second to none. Maybe except the 30's through the 60's.

Hell yes, I love my 2006 burb 6.0L. You summed it up perfectly. I built a camper truck out of an old F150 and a topper, but bought my burb shortly after that and swapped everything over. It's so much better! It's all in one cab and easier to use space efficiently. I've got a queen memory foam mattress in the back and plenty of room for all my gear/tools! Love the vids, Jimmy! You've been a huge help in my burb build!

Old town r some of the best canoes u can buy. I own one so does my brother in law, I've had it since i was 18 so 20 yrs now, still love it. Btw, never leave it laying on its bottom when u store it for long. It will flatten the bottom over time, wont cut thru the water right. Always lean it on its side leaning against the wall or there's creative ways to hang them, but its easier to just lean it against the wall lol
@1RoadGarage
@1RoadGarage 2 жыл бұрын
Awesome to hear! Question for ya, have you ever applied keel protection material? Like that peal and stick type... Just curious if that's something that I should do now to protect or leave as is.
@travdripdrip382
@travdripdrip382 2 жыл бұрын
@@1RoadGarage I've never used it, I've heard about it though. But i have no exp with it. The most important thing when storing is not to lay it flat on its bottom over time tho. I can't stress it enough, you'll be noticeablely slower through the water once the bottom flattens out.

I'm original owner of a '95 Chevy 4WD Suburban with only 157k miles on it and don't get anywhere near 15 mpg on the highway...but that's okay. I recently completed a photography road trip from Texas to Joshua Tree NP and back...awesome for long-distance road trips. Was able to carry a lot of my photo gear (film and digital) without having to check any baggage if I flew instead. Setting it up now for overlanding, building a rear bumper with a swing-arm tire carrier...spare inside takes up too much valuable space.

I was at school at NAS Memphis Tennessee in the winter of 1970 and they had an ice storm and ( sorry but I am from central Illinois) it was so funny watching the Tennessee drivers. They didn't even use common sense, you slow way down on ice and don't use your brakes at all and steer into the slide. Also chains work great but in 1967-1969 there was studded snow tires and they were wonderful but of course the idiots that spun their tires cause the studs to launch and I guess they hurt someone or a window so they outlawed them. I bought a set for my parents and my dad and mom loved them until they were wore out.

The long roof line and rack system on my 97 GMC Suburban ideal for carrying my 21 - 25 foot long racing surfski kayaks and outrigger canoes. With something that long and skinny I recommend Goodboy Kayak racks though that attach right to the factory crossbars. Also, I have had those boats on other SUVs, but I can't fully open the hatch. The barn doors on my Suburban are awesome for getting into the back with the long boats on . Cheers from Chattanooga!

I agree, I love my 99 GMC and use it for everything from Camping, to towing, to helping people move. One suggestion, pick up some NES tie downs specifically for strapping kayaks / canoes to roof racks. Ratchet straps can be over tightened and cause damage if you are not careful.

Yakima/Thule crossbars will give you some extra clearance from the roof, plus you can get wide ones in case you ever want a roof box side-by-side with the canoe, or even a couple of canoes. Plus they are flat instead of arched like the pretty light duty stock crossbars.
