In this video I show what I think is the first thing you should buy after the purchase of a new (or used) vehicle. In my opinion, one of the most important factors of owning a vehicle is resale value. I'm always trying my best to keep my vehicles clean and in great running condition and the interior of a vehicle is no exception. The floors in particular probably take the brunt of the wear and tear but there is a way you can keep them looking good for as long as possible. The trick is to completely remove the factory floor mats and replace with a high quality aftermarket floor mat. The ones I'm using in this video are the WeatherTech "FloorLiner" and they're custom made for my truck. They are decently expensive and not everyone is willing to fork over the cash for a set but they do make universal floor mats that are a lot more affordable.

We had weather tech in a few of our vehicles but I will never buy a set again. Our weather tech liners never fit correctly (gaps between the floor mat and the carpet on all sides), they turn a grey color that does not go away, and they tend to curl on the edges of the rear seat may. I went with Husky and I love it. They fit better, they stay black, and they feel nicer. The Huskys are a softer material so it feels nicer and fits better.

I have Husky liners in all my vehicles and love them. Especially the edge lips that hold the snow melt and mud so I can dump it out later. Carpet looks brand new on my 1998 suburban.

I detail my weather techs twice a year after winter when they have salt and rocks on them and they are gray. I use an all purpose cleaner and an aggressive brush. Then black trim cleaner or a shine to make them pop again. That way they don’t dry out and look good for years. Had this set for 4 years and the weather tech logos fell off but they look new

I spent like $500 on new weathertech floor mats on my wife's Tahoe when I bought it. They are great. The rear cargo mat did not allow the 3rd row seats to be installed with the mat. I got a husky liner with little cut-outs for the seat bracketry. It allows me to slap in the 3rd row and keep the floor protection for my kids and nephews.

Have them for my wife’s Sorento. There is a weathertech store near my house. Located in Romeoville IL. They make all kinds of other things for you car. Excellent quality. And works great in the Chicago winter with snow.

Bought a set of those for my wife's Terrain when new, fit like a glove, worth every penny. You can message out some of those areas where there are waves in the floor liner to make them fit better with a hair dryer or heat gun. Wear thick gloves. OR since you are in Cali; Buy a bag of sand and fill some old socks with sand (that's the hard part). Place the sand/socks over areas where you need to form the shape and park the vehicle in the sun on a hot day. Make nature work for you. NO, The FIRST THING YOU SHOULD BUY For Your Vehicle, is an emergency kit, i.e. jumper cables (big enough copper wire to actually jump start your vehicle), all of your vehicles fluids and filters, flares, tow rope (big enough to tow your vehicle through the worst situations), etc..

I got a set of Weather Tech mats for my 08 Trailblazer. The fronts fit fine. The back not as well. It fit but had cutouts where they weren't needed. I called Weather Tech to see if they sent the wrong mat. I was told during the run of Trailblazer's there were several changes made that would require several different rear mats. So for the rear the mat you get may fit perfect or not. Depends on the year of your Trailblazer. That is not mentioned when you order these over priced mats. You get to find that out after you install them. And call to ask if you got the wrong mat.

Totally agree. I have them on all my cars. I love Weather Tech floor mats. I held off on getting them for my Explorer because it was old and had a lot of miles so I went cheap no name black mats and after a year, they already had holes. Finally went Weather Tech and they look so good. Should have done it two years ago! I’ve had them on my minivan for 6 years since I bought it new and the carpet underneath still looks new and the mats have held up very well. Also MADE IN USA!!

I live in the Chicago area, Weather Tech is in this area. We have snow, etc. here, these are the only floor mats that work in this area. I have a Honda mat in the cargo area, it does a better job with spills because it has about a 1 1/2 “ raised area all the way around. Now this maybe specific to my 2009 Honda CR-V, but my wife’s 2006 Accord and my friends 2007 Honda Odyssey were the same. My 2017 Toyota RAV4 is the same (these were new with the car).

WeatherTech mats were the first thing I bought when I purchased my new truck in 2016. Perfect fit. Carpet is mint underneath. No wear on the mats either.

Hahah this is so funny cause the first thing I bought for my honda is the weather tech floor mats . I bought my car last July and I still had the stickers that cover my floor carpeting I did not want to remove the stickers for fear of getting the carpeting dirty . I will say this my rear floor mats didn't fit as well as my front seats in the aspect that I have major gaps where I wanted more coverage but not a big deal to me I was still being a bit of a Karen about it tho 😂 your floor mats fit like a kings not gon to lie I'm a bit jelly mine weren't fit like the chevys but still happy I have them .. oh and that's a dope stache you got there lol

Watch the edges there as the weather changes - they tend to curl up and get stuck under under door, parking brake pedal, etc... Ive found you can reform them slightly with heat but even still, after the first year they dont fit quite right for me. Thats been my experience in my yukon at least. However, in sedans I’ve never seen them curl up like that.

Weathertech are top notch, don't get me wrong (have a set for the wife's Volvo) but I prefer the Husky line for my Suburbans. They have a raised lip all the way around and traps any water or debris and doesn't run out on the sill/step plate or get the bottom of the door wet. Great video!

I initially bought MaxLiner mats for my wife's Infiniti QX80 because they were about half the price of the WeatherTech. I immediately returned them upon receiving them because they were so flimsy and bought the WeatherTech instead. When they arrived...they were just as flimsy as the WeatherTech! The OEM mats for my Ford F-150 that came with the truck were much thicker and far more durable than either the MaxLiner or WeatherTech. They also included much more of a lip around the edge to contain any liquid spills, melting snow, etc. I think WeatherTech is way overrated. They've worked well in the Infiniti, but I don't think they are worth the money. The MaxLiner's are virtually identical and half the price. I don't know how much the OEM version is, but they are the best option, at least for my Ford.

If they get out of shape turn them inside out and leave in hot sun for a while and when you turn them back they will fit like they are supposed to. I do it proably once a year.

Thanks for the video Jimmy. I've been meaning to get a set of front mats for my 1992 K1500 GMC Suburban so ordered a set after watching your video. I had a set of tan ones in my 1994 K1500 Burb when I had it and kept them when I sold it and put them in my 1999 Tahoe. Wife has had a set in her 2013 Dodge Grand caravan since it ws new and they are, although as you stated pricey, great floor mats.

I used some thick nylon over my floor. It cost only 40 dollars . It make me enjoy the original carpet look without to wory for anything . U can use it in the middle if u liked it

Lucky! They don’t make these for a 95 c2500 truck, only the Burb. The ones for a truck are generic and not laser fit. I almost want to try getting a burb front one as I’m sure they’re probably identical.

I have a set of weather techs in my minivan and after about three years they're actually wearing away on the driver's side. Not all that impressed with their durability. For a new truck we went with 3D Maxpider floor liners.

I agree with buying good liners but not weather tech there quality has gone down hill. Max liners or Husky liners are better quality and cheaper and have the same custom fit for your vehicle.

My 99 gmc suburban has a problem with holding moisture in the back carpet. When i put a matt or anything on it. Within a few hours if i lift it up carpets soaked. I dont get it. No leaks. Happens even when it hasnt rained or went through any puddles so i dont think there are holes im the floor. Idk.
