Same here in Australia. I feel like the world has plenty of foot-long subs in delis, bars and pubs now just because of Subway's influence. Despite most of us not even using feet as a measurement.

Tip, roll the bread out evenly, don't point the ends that much as the yeasty bois will do all the work for you... proof for as big as you want it to come out when its baked, (more than in the video) but not too much or it'll cry and deflate like papa's heart when he has to taste other people's food. Very similar to the hoagie rolls in the steak sandwich recipe. Not complaining! I made those, and they turned out fantastic. Josh, you should do a “But Healthier” segment. I think it would be great for you to give us some tips on cooking delicious meals that are on the healthier side, but still taste good! Just a thought :)
@ienfrg
@ienfrg Жыл бұрын
There are 2 schools of cooking 1. Cooking for taste 2. Cooking for health The “Healthy but also tasty“ will always be lacking in either direction. If you want healthy: Chicken, rice and broccoli, you know the drill. If you want DELICIOUS. You can go ahead and throw "health" out the window. But that being said, pretty much anything homemade is healthy, just depends how much you eat. In this video for example, everything is healthy minus the granulated sugar used for the baguette. But overall a perfectly fine meal
@christiandalessandro4009
@christiandalessandro4009 Жыл бұрын
@@ienfrg I disagree. One thing is cooking for health, other thing is cooking for weight loss. You can cook high calorie delicious food, and as long as you keep your macros fairy balanced and use mainly whole foods you’ll be strong and healthy. Everyone has a calorie threshold for sure, you just have to know when to stop eating otherwise you’ll start gaining weight and at a certain point you’ll stop being healthy. In my case snacking is the enemy, if I keep it 2 meals a day (moderate lunch, big dinner) I can keep my weight just fine.

Seeing some of these comments i think a bit of context is perhaps necessary in that Texas compared to other areas of the United States is not as expensive in regards to groceries. I can find 4 avocados for $ 3.78 in Central TX vs 4 rock solid avocados for $ 5 in Upstate NY. Also usually you should wait for sales on certain products like meat, milk, mayo, etc. Note: not gonna try to compare to other countries since I'm not knowledgeable like Canada or even Mexico and I chose avocado for comparison bc it's such an expensive produce item to begin with.

I got the cheapest deli slicer (like 35 USD) I could find that looked like it might actually work and it's literally the best for slicing anything - it's good enough for occasional use at home. Recommend upgrading to a 50 buck one if you find it weak...I got my kitchenaid stand mixer (the flip top, not the bumper jack one) at charity thrift store for 10 bucks so keep your eyes peeled and you'll find some well loved quality appliances here and there that you can give a good home to. But the first time I shredded lettuce for burgers with that thing ... was a moment. Tomato slices that don't destroy your burger geometry and making your own long thin pickle slices...

the meat alone is like 4-5 lol tomato is like $1. I guess making your own bread saves you? but you can buy a big roll of french bread for $1 here at walmart or smiths.. But i soppose. Thats worth more than $2 for sure. lol

Probably not. Pretty much every apartment in the US outside of a college dorm has an oven and frankly the demographics that don't have one are too poor for his sponsors to care about.

...$5.56 for *2 lbs* of chicken? Come on man, that's not even close to how much chicken actually costs nowadays. I haven't seen any kind of meat for less than $5/lb in months. You went harder than you really needed to on the meat, but still.

This sandwich looks amazing but I am not sure what universe it's $2 per serving. Maybe if someone has most of the ingredients already but for the average person that is highly unlikely. Just for shits and giggles I added up all the ingredients just to make the bread, the cheapest I could find from a big box store, and it came out to $20...just for the bread... given that's if you didn't have ANY of the ingredients but we are still missing the meat, produce and cheese.
@wv7228
@wv7228 Жыл бұрын
That’s not how it’s calculated. You only count the amount you are actually using. For example, if a pound of chicken costs $5 and you use half of it for the recipe then the cost is only counted as $2.50.
@randojay

Agree to a point. If you buy all the ingredients and spices and so on, you'd probably be able to make 20 of these, so your $20 is split across them. Having said that, $2.23 is a stretch. I would not be able to make these for under $3-4 each considering the prices when i walk into a supermarket.

I just bought a pack of 5 chicken breasts, with bone in. It was about $18 on sale. One chicken breast is more than $2 (Canadian).

@@SophiaLilithUwU flour is a normal thing to not have on hand TBH if you don't bake. I've barely ever actually used any in my home cooking, I don't think I actually have any on hand and I cook all the meals for myself every day

I highly doubt it's $2, the chicken alone would have cost more than that. Maybe it's $2 per serving but what's the total cost of the ingredients?
